[New Champ Concept]: Hyunto, the Plague Spreader
Hi, I'm Davidesfed from Italy, and today I am going to present you a new champion concept that is inspired by another concept I read in an article some time ago. Unfortunately I could not remeber where that post was, so I am not able to link it. It's been a while since I first thought of a champion linked to some kind of a disease that slowly weaken enemies, and so I decided to think it through in a more complete way. I think of him as an assassin midlaner/support like Pyke is. He could, maybe, go in the jungle but I honestly see him as an anti-healer so his primary role would be support. Hope you'll read and like :D
Lore: Hyunto, as a child, lived with his parents in a remote village cut out from the world. His life in the village was simple and happy, and he worked as a healer apprentice. Unfortunately, one day an epidemic spread on his people, carrying away his beloved parents. He was so desperate and felt so guilty for their deaths that he just could not keep living in the village and he moved to Piltover. His new life was totally dedicated to medicine and finding a cure for all diseases, and soon he became one of the most important doctors in Runeterra. One day, though, he came in contact with a patience whom contracted the same disease that killed his parents. In that moment, years of repressed sense of guilt came right back into his mind and heart, making him crazy. In the desperate attempt to find a cure, he ended up creating a more powerful strain of the disease. He himself contracted it and this caused him to be banished from Piltover. He moved to Zaun where, full of resentment towards the city he once loved, he betrayed his duties and became Hyunto.
Base stats: Health: 590.8 – 2150 (+ 91.76 per level) Health Regen: 8.24 – 21.5 (+ 0.78 per level) Mana: 340.25 – 1050 (+ 41.75 per level) Mana Regen: 7.57 – 21 (+ 0.79 per level) Attack Damage: 65 – 116 (+ 3.0 per level) Attack Speed: 0.660 – 0.997 (+ 3% per level) Armor: 40 - 99.5 (+ 3.5 per level) Magic Resist: 32 – 53.25 (+ 1.25 per level) Range: 125 Movement Speed: 345
Passive: Leper All Hyunto’s abilities and attacks apply stacks of Plague after a short delay that lasts for 7 seconds. Upon hitting 5 stacks, enemy champions gain Leper as an additional passive ability for the next 10 seconds. (Enemies cannot gain other Plague stacks for 20 seconds after this duration.) Plague stacks duration is lowered to 4 seconds if they have not been applied by Hyunto. All Shields and heals are 20% less effective on Hyunto. (This effect is applied after all bonuses at heal and shield power. It includes consumables, active items, abilities and runes.) (Does not stack with Grevious Wound)
Q: Unholy Oil
cooldown: 6/5.5/5/4.5/4 seconds
mana cost: 80/75/70/65/60
range: 800
explosion radius: 275
ACTIVE: Hyunto throws a jar of oil at a target location. On arrival, it explodes dealing 80/125/170/215/260 (+60% bonus AD) physical damage to all units caught in the explosion and slowing them by 20/25/30/35/40% for 2 seconds.
PASSIVE: For every Plagued unit that dies near Hyunto, he restores 1.2 health and 5 mana. (range: 1000)
W: Infected Knife cooldown: 16 seconds mana cost: 60 ally range: 500 enemy range: 170 Cast On An Ally: Hyunto lends his knife to an ally, marking them as “The Holder” for 5-10 seconds (depending on level). The Holder gains Leper as an additional passive. After 5 seconds, Hyunto can recast the ability on the Holder to recover his knife early, reducing the remaining cooldown of Infected Knife by 70%. (if the Knife is not lended to an ally, Hyunto himself is the Holder) Cast On An Enemy: Hyunto stabs his target, critically striking for 10/20/30/40/50 (+110% total AD) physical damage and Grounding them for 1 seconds. If the target is already Plagued, they become Mutilated for 5 seconds. (melee range. AA reset, applies on hit effect.) Mutilated: auto attacks and abilities have an additional cost of 0.5% (+ 0.2 per Plague stack) max hp. Damage done in this way does not add stacks of Plague and is doubled on monsters.
E: Seed of the Plague
cooldown: 18/16/14/12/10 seconds
mana cost: 70
dash range: 575
slash radius: 225;
Hyunto dash for a medium distance and stops to the first enemy champion hit. Upon arrival, Hyunto slashes all units in front of him dealing 50 (+ 50% total AD) physical damage. Striked Plagued units take an additional 20/25/30/35/40 (+10% total AD) physical damage per Plague stack and are slowed by 90% for 0.5 seconds.
(Max damage: 150/175/200/225/250 (+ 100% total AD) )
R: Epidemic
cooldown: 120/100/80 seconds
mana cost: 100
radius: 550
For the next 10 seconds the Infected Knife is soaked with the more powerful strain of Plague. Number of Plague stacks applied to enemy champion by the Holder of the Knife is doubled, while all his base abilities have 30% reduced cooldown and his attacks deal (+ 10 per Plague stack) bonus physical damage.
(If Hyunto dies while his Knife is lended to an ally, the Knife will stay on that ally until the duration expires. Epidemic’s buff will shift from the Holder to Hyunto if he gets back his Knife. If the Holder dies, the Knife will automatically return to Hyunto.)
ANALYSIS:
-
Strengths: Hyunto is a heavy damage champion, even though he likes to play as a support. His strength is his passive: he is able to apply Plague stack with every autoattack and ability. Moreover, he can lend this passive to an ally (mainly the adc in the laning phase), to reach that 5 cap faster. Once an enemy has 5 stacks, it’s time for Hyunto to go in an unleash his damage by Infected Knife, Seed of the Plague and Epidemic. He excelles in teamfights and skirmishies because of all his AoE spells. Try to poke your enemies to get them reach maximum Plague stacks before you go in with E, this way you’ll deal a shit ton of damage. Immediately after E, you should excute your W in order to keep the most dangerous enemy in place. Remember, though, that you have absolutely no way to get out of a fight, so pick them wisely. Lastly, your ult is a great teamfight’s tool and can even be used to amplify your adc’s damage by a little bit.
-
Weaknesses: Hyunto is very vulnerable to poke and gain a lot less value from potions, meaning he has a weaker laning phase. Try to fight him when he goes in for poke, that is his weaker point. Bait out his E before you reach 5 Plague stacks, since it is the only mobility spell he has, this way his damage will be way less. Moreover, his E cooldown is high, so try to abuse that early on. Another weakness of Hyunto is that his passive can turn against his own team, if his team has heals or shields, but only if the fight goes long enough.

Item builds & runes: (live patch is 9.3) As a support, Hyunto will have to start the game with a support item (could be Targon or Ancient Coin). As a midlaner, though, I would suggest going Doran’s Shield with 1 potion over Long Sword + 3 pot, because Leper does not modify Doran Shield’s passive regeneration while it does modify potions healing. His first completed item could be something like Duskblade of Draktharr or Youmuu’s Ghostblade. His kit synergizes very well with The Black Cleaver and Sheen items. If ahead, Infinity Edge could be considered as a good solo-carry choice. Keep in mind, though, that you lose all you crit power if you lend your Knife to an ally. Items I would not suggest are lifesteal items. Instead, if you want to be a little more tanky you could go with something like Zeke's Convergence, Iceborn Gauntlet or Guardian Angel, given the fact that all of these items synergizes very well with your playstile. Keep in mind, though, that if you go heavy on tank items you will not have enough damage, so you will have to entirely rely on your adc’s damage. Note that abilities like Titanic Hydra and Ravaneous Hydra’s passives does not apply Plague stacks, and you already have plenty of AoE damage, so you really don’t need them. Moreover, your primal source of damage are spells, not autoattacks. For runes I would suggest going Dark Harvest or Electrocute for a heavy damage build. Again, try to avoid healing runes, since you will not benefit a lot from them.
And that's all! Thanks for reading until the end. I really appreciate if you could leave a comment down below and give some ideas and feedback on my champ! Have a nice day :D
