Skin codes are disabled to prevent abuse and fraud.
The only time you can currently acquire a skin code that works is at a real life event (such as PAX) where Riot gives out codes on cards. Those codes are only valid for a short time after the event ends, at which point they expire. However, Riot support can assist players in redeeming valid codes if they were unable to do so during the redemption window.
TL;DR: You can't buy any skins outside of the game store.
this always annoyed me. I dont like the idea of people only being able to obtain these sorts of skins based on location of where they live. I have never had an oppertunity to go to pax so if i wanna have any hopes of obtaining something like this id be looking at a few hundred bucks on ebay. i dont think thats possible anymore either but just an example
OK so i can't have pax sivir without going to a pax convention
Let's all start a petition campaign to Ty and Gabe of Penny arcade to beg them to let Riot sell the skins or release them for limited time. If they don't want Riot earning profits from their copyright, maybe we could convince them to sell the skins though League for their gamer charities. I'd definitely drop the money for PAX skins to support charities.
