Very sure they aren't going to pander weaboos every time something 'awesome' comes around. Plus you do know that the anime you are talking about is technically some Hentai heavy stuff that gets repeated often and either is usually using that 'fanservice' shcmiks to attract people to watch it and usually lack consistency and pull Mc'guffins for everyone even when they make little sense.
Hell if that is what took to sway them to make skins, we'd of already seen plenty of Tales series, Star'ocean, Final Fantasy, Megaman, Mario, Disgaea, Metroid, Star fox, Castlevania and so many other huge titles showing up references in League of Legends in the form of skins, which some we technically do, especially with Kled following the knight motif on a two legged bird.
Plus once again, i could probably whip up a list of around a dozen to maybe even 5 dozen animes which have similar trope designs of some overpowered as hell main character, gets to have their own literal harem of girls that want to marry or is attracted to them and the majority of these 'cookie cutter main characters' are basically plain high schoolers with brown or black short hair with only simple differences like middle length hair, some kind of accessory, scars, etc. And easily over half of them are running the mary sue personality of being some can't do nothing wrong individual. Plus at least 10 or more of them have the silly dragon'looking armor or dragon partner gag or just the plain old 'power up by suddenly wearing some fancy armor that makes them look like they suddenly aged 10 years since the armor covers them up entirely, yet they look like they had some massive growth spurt when they 'transform'.
