There have been tales from all corners of Runeterra, of a women large of stature and few of words burdening a machine upon her back. Some say this machine breaths like a lung, less say the machine curses those around it, and even less say the machine brings great fortune. But they are all true.

Saoirse, The Eternal Operator Primary Role: Support Secondary Role: Fighter Melee

Overview

Saoirse [sear-sha] is a tanky utility support that relies heavily on an object she can carry around the map simply referred to as "The Machine". The Machine gives buffs to each ally champion within a certain radius of The Machine. Although much of her power relies on The Machine, she still has fairly decent Crowd Control and utility, however minimal damage. However, it is The Machine that makes Saoirse into the zone-controlling, team-fighting monster that she is meant to be.

Abilties

Passive: The Eternal Operator Saoirse is the keeper of "The Machine", a movable object that can be picked up and placed down at will that gives benefits to you and your allies in a radius around it. The Machine scales with your own health(80% of your max health + 50 health per level) and resistances. If The Machine loses 10% of its max health in a 3 second period, it will halt giving all benefits to its ally team for 5 seconds.

While carrying The Machine, Saoirse moves at 75% movespeed and may not cast any abilities until it is dropped. The Machine does not operate while being carried.

Each ability has a passive that you can link to any ally champion that is not yourself, this passive will be applied to that ally champion while they are in the radius around The Machine. Each ally champion can have only one passive hooked to them.

If The Machine is not at full health, Saoirse can repair it once every 10 seconds to restore 10% of its max health.

If Saoirse dies, The Machine loses health over a 5 second period and is destroyed.

If The Machine is destroyed, Saoirse will receive a new one upon returning to fountain.

** Q: Persausive Maintenance / Vault** ---------- 40/55/65/80 Mana ---------- 22/20/18/16 Cooldown Active: Saoirse channels for a short time, slamming the head of her wrench in front of her, knocking enemy units to the side. She can activate this ability again to jump and vault using her wrench to travel a short distance (this counts as a short dash). She lands on the opposite side, stunning any units under her landing for 1 second(1/1.25/1.5/1.75) and dealing moderate AP damage.

Passive: Increase Weapon Efficiency: Can be bound to any ally champion so that while they are within the radius of The Machine ability power and attack damage of the champion is increased by 6%(6%/9%/12%/15%).

W: Arc Wrench ---------- 60/80/100/120 Mana ---------- 20/17/14/11 Cooldown Active: For .5 seconds, Saoirse charges up a wide arc in front of her and moves at 60% of her normal movespeed. This arc can be increased in size(but not width) if she charges it for longer, up to 1.5 seconds. When released, Saoirse swings her wrench, knocking all enemy units within the arc in the direction of the swing and slowing them by 30%(30%/40%/50%/60%) of their movespeed for 1.5 seconds and dealing AP damage increased by the time the ability was charged. if they collide with a wall they are stunned for .5 seconds(.5/.75/1/1.25).

Passive: Movement Assistance: Can be bound to any ally champion so that while they are within the radius of The Machine they receive a 5%(5%/7%/9%/11%) movement speed boost when approaching enemies and auto attacks and abilities decrease hit target’s movement speed by the same amount(halved if ranged auto attack or ability) for .5 seconds.

E: Electro-Magnetic Barrier ---------- 80/100/120/160 Mana ---------- 40/35/30/25 Cooldown Active: Saoirse channels for .25 seconds and places down a large circle ontop of herself that remains for 2 seconds(2.5/3/3.5/4) that reduces damage done by 20%(20%/30%/40%/50%) by any enemy ability or auto attack for any ally unit within the circle.

Passive: Remote Magnetic Shielding: Can be bound to any ally champion so that while they are within the radius of The Machine they have a shield scaling with 4%(4%/6%/8%/10%) of their max health that bursts after 6 seconds or when broken through via damage, dealing an amount of AOE damage scaling with 2%(2%/3%/4%/5%) of their health around the buffed ally as magic damage. This shield reapplies itself every 8 seconds.

R: Warp Drive Protocol Override ---------- 100 Mana ---------- 150/135/120/105 Cooldown Active: This ability can only be cast if within The Machine's radius or if Saoirse is currently carrying The Machine.

The Machine disappears from its current location and a dark circle appears in target location. After 3 seconds the circle explodes, dealing massive AP damage in a large circle around it and all enemies in the circle are then slowed by 90% of their movement speed for 1.5(1.5/2/2.5/3) seconds. From the middle of the explosion the machine sits, with increased resistances for 5 seconds. For the next 5 seconds after this ability is cast, all allies within the radius of The Machine receive every passive on Saoirse's abilities.

Passive: Anti-Mage Countermeasures: Can be bound to any ally champion so that while they are within the radius of The Machine if they are bursted for 40% or more of their max health in a .75 second time span they cannot go below 2.5% of their max health for .5 seconds afterwards. This passive can only activate every 60 seconds(60/55/50/45).

Lore

Decades ago in the city of Piltover lived a loving father and fantastic techmaturgist, Corin Reveck. In the prime of his career, he was commissioned by Demacia to create a war machine capable of enhancing the ability of soldiers. For several years he worked on this contraption tirelessly, that he simply referred to as “The Machine”, but as the project was nearing completion, the techmaturgist’s daughter, Orianna died in a training accident. Effort on The Machine halted as Corin locked himself within his laboratory, creating a new, robotic Orianna. Eventually he succumbed to depression after his realization that the new robotic Orianna will never be his true daughter. Corin went missing, leaving all of his work behind. His laboratory was quarantined and for years all of his research did nothing but gather dust. Meanwhile, the daughter of a noble family was failing her classes in the royal College of Magic. Saorise never saw herself as a mage and rebelled against her family’s wishes by pursuing her true passion: techmaturgy. Inspired by Corin Reveck’s work she hoped to one day improve the world through her inventions, and get a lot of fame along the way. Perhaps it was fate that brought her into Corin’s laboratory, or maybe Saorise broke in and simply claims it fate, either way she studied over Corin’s research and discovered a project that was never finished, a machine with endless potential that would enhance the physical ability of all those around it. She decided to finish what Corin began, she would finish “The Machine”. Over the next few months Saorise worked day and night on the project and was forced to drop out of the royal academy. As Saorise studied the perverted scramblings of Corin her mind began to deteriorate, and she was aware of this, but decided knowledge was worth her sanity. For the next month she never set foot outside of the laboratory and she hit a wall in her development. In a time of great desperation, Saorise's mind was completely claimed by insanity and she began to see equations, runes, and more scrawlings that were not previously there. In these was the secret to complete what she had spent the last half a year on: The Machine. As the machine was powered it spat out gears as it struggled to expand and contract like a lung, it even sounded like struggled breathing. Saorise felt a presence search the room, and then focus on her. Then she felt a tug, not on her physical being but her soul. A thought told her to let it take it, to give in; and she did. Like ripping cloth in two, half of Saorise's soul was pulled into the machine which proceeded to steady its breathing and hum in a low comforting tone. Saorise tried to piece together what happened and for a moment she remembered a piece of Corin's journal speaking of The Machine requiring “an operator”, detailing that The Machine and operator will form an unbreakable soul link. As she thought this her mind wandered to how she might carry The Machine out of the laboratory that she had been locked in for months. As she thought this, a panel on the machine that was red fliped to black and it began to hum, ever increasing until it is nothing but a painful ringing in her ears, then stopped. The Machine seemed to just disappear out of existence. A moment later, Saorise kneeled over like the breath had been knocked out of her. She once again felt a tug on her soul, but this time pulling her outside of the laboratory. She approached the large doorway to the outside of laboratory and instinctively squinted her eyes for the expected sunlight she had not seen for months, but when she kicked open the doors there is no sunlight. A dark mist with sparkling particles illuminating like fireflies flood into the room. The tug pulled her further. Unconsciously she stepped towards the direction of The Machine. Upon approaching The Machine the tug lets go, like a child letting go of it's mother's skirt. In a perfectly cut pit in the ground The Machine sat, with a clean cut through the walls of the structure surrounding the machine. Saoirse stood there at The Machine, once again, trying to piece together what happened. As the mist cleared she saw The Machine's handiwork. The golems of the street that would be walking citizen's pets sat, their metal bodies glowing red, and dozens of bodies laid across the streets, half melted into a sizzling black paste. Anger entered her heart, but another emotion strangled the anger and replaced it. Pity. She did not know why or how, but she felt pity, not for those that were just killed, but for The Machine, like it was a confused child, unaware of its deed. Then an idea she thought her own snaked its way into her mind: "escape". Like a puppet played by its owner The Machine had Saoirse carry itself upon her back and far away from the city of Piltover to wander Runeterra for the rest of her life, all the time carrying The Machine along on her back.

Appearance

I'm going to be completely honest, Saoirse looks very butch. Her inspiration is hyper-exaggerated stereotypical female car mechanics. She is tall, fairly masculine looking in terms of body and muscle, and has short red hair tied into several knots with rubber bands. She wears a jumpsuit that has the torso section folded down around her waist, showing a white tank top underneath and worn bloodied bandages wrapped over her arms and left palm. She carries a giant rusted iron wrench she uses as a weapon and has a device she wears with buckles on her back that help her carry The Machine.

Personality

Although she was once very outspoken, her willful isolation and subtle influence from The Machine has altered her personality. Saoirse was once highly dedicated to the study of techmaturgy and a rebel to the norms society enforced on her, but now she is nearly solely dedicated to the research and care of The Machine. Now she is a women of few words, but when she does speak it's likely a blunt sarcastic remark.

How to play

  • Place The Machine where it will be difficult for enemies to get to.
  • Try to place The Machine in locations where teamfights are likely to happen
  • Disengage in bad situations with your Q and W
  • Place an E on top of your team to stall a teamfight
  • Ult in the middle of a teamfight to scatter the enemy team and gives your team the boost it might need

How to play against

  • Keep each of The Machine's buffs in mind when you are fighting enemies within The Machine's radius. Ex, if you are you going to try to burst down someone with the “Anti-Mage Countermeasures” buff, ignite them afterwards.
  • The Machine can greatly turn teamfights in its allies favor, try to disable it by taking out 10% of its health in a 3 second period to disable it then try to pick off important enemies during this, or better yet destroy The Machine.
  • Try to fight the enemy team while outside of The Machine's radius, as they lose many of their benefits outside of it.
  • If you see Saoirse carrying The Machine alone, engage her. You will likely get a kill on her or she will drop The Machine and run, in that case destroy The Machine if you can.

Additional Notes

  • All units that can see an an enemy unit that has one of The Machine's buffs will be revealed the location of The Machine. Due to this, Saoirse will likely never be a competent jungler due to her clear intention to gank, assuming she is using The Machine.
  • The Machine provides vision in the same radius as a ward
  • The Machine cannot be CC'ed
  • Passives from Saoirse form a visible link(similar to a Kalista Black Spear) between the champion and The Machine that is color coded. This is to make it apparent to the enemy team what passives are linked to who.
  • When I imagined her VO, she had an Irish accent

Phew, that was long. Thank you if you read this far and I hope you are interested in Saoirse! If you have any ideas on how she might be improved please comment. Tell me what you might like about her or what you might hate about her. I have a few more champion ideas so I'm looking to improve here.
