Mechanic Concept: Mana Decay

Right, this isn't quite a champion concept, but an idea for a possible gameplay mechanic. How does mana decay, as in a progressive loss of mana, sound for a champion mechanic?

Starting a game, the champion would have 0 mana. From this point, auto attacking will grant mana for use of abilities, which would then begin to decay either immediately or a short time after leaving combat. During combat, however, the decay would be inactive.

Thoughts?

Om not going into this in depth but lets just say this is a bad idea. Non mana champs would simply dominate the game.

This is an interesting concept, though it may kind of not work out too well if the mana decays so fast. But if we had something similar to Xearath's passive on mana-using champions I think that would be cool to have.

Sounds like an interesting ability,but I think it should be some unique form of resource as other mana items could potentially mess with the ability.

However it would be hard to balance,especially because the decay shouldn't be too high(otherwise you might just feel bad about using abilities),but also not too low(otherwise the mechanic would be pointless in the first place)

It's just a reskinned fury/edge/heat/energy mechanic.

And if you put it on an item which affects other champions, Riot will hate it. Wits End used to have mana burn but was removed due to being too "toxic".

this would make for very boring games people wouldn't roam because they would have to stack up mana and their would be less fighting
