[Champion Concept] - Rek, The Reaper of Runeterra (Melee ADC Idea)
Hey guys, I'll start this out with a little inspiration on my part. Kind of a two part-er, One - I've always wanted a really cool ADC from Shadow Isles, I feel the aura and tone that Riot brought with Shadow Isles really screamed for a cool ADC (Kalista's awesome, but I was thinking something more Threshy). Two, I really like the idea of a melee orientated ADC, and was playing around with the idea. Below is my concept for Rek (Wreck), let me know what you think please, any feedback is appreciated :D.
This is very flesh and bones version of the concept as well (yes, pun intended), I figure numbers and stats are more balance related issues can be done once the fun aspect and cool core has been established :).
-Important Notes- Rek (Ourobos, Videl, Akuji, Kern?) would be a non-resource (mana/energy) based champion, only limited by his cooldowns (like Garen or Katarina)
--Lore-- All through-out Runeterra, people tell tales of an apparition, his name can be heard through the tree's in a soft whisper, it echo's down corridors on lonely nights, dripping from the crevices, and seeping from cracks there is no place that exceeds his reach.
The stories lasted as long as time itself in Runeterra, and throughout this time, the stories may have changed, but the spirit never did. Those that escaped death, weren't as fortunate as they might have thought legend has it, that if you cheat death, your soul is merely passed on to the Runetarrian soul collector If you're soul hasn't made it's way to the Shadow Isles... It will It's only a matter of time till the trees start whispering, the walls start echoing, your name.
--Abilities-- _Passive - _ Expose Soul Through each successful auto attack or ability use, a Stack of Expose soul is applied to the target. Each stack grants increased auto attack range (50 range/stack) on the target, and also amplifies damage done at melee range to the target by Rek (if at melee increases damage by % based on stacks). Max stacks are 10, and stay on the target for 10 seconds, and duration refreshes if another stack is applied. Thought Behind This - Rek will be, in his core, a melee champion. but through auto attacks and abilities he will gain an advantage in either holding true to his melee prowess, or still being able to do damage at a distance if melee isn't a good idea at that point in the fight.
Q - Harvest
Rek swipes his hand through the air, striking directly at the core of his target.
Thought Behind This - This will be at shorter range than a ranged auto attack, but still a decent amount (350~?) Rek would be able to last hit in lane without suffering too much from his melee advantage, this would help him apply stacks of his debuff, the cooldown makes him suffer a little bit - if hes gonna benefit from melee advantage, there does need to be a trade off for him suffering at range. Also, max level the cooldown would be 2-3 seconds?
W - Soul Link Rek throws out a soul net to a target area, if an enemy champion is hit by this, their soul is marked and they are slowed for 1.5 seconds and 5 stacks of Exposed Soul are applied. After the 1.5 seconds, if the target is isolated and no other units are within 300 range of them, the target is stunned for 1 second and 5 more stacks of Exposed Soul are applied. If the target is within range of any other units (minions, champions, etc) the marked target binds itself to all other units, all being slowed by 60% and each getting 1 stack of Exposed Soul. Thought Behind This - Seeing as Rek has the possibility to do great single target damage with his passive, I felt wave clear wasn't really in his kit, he's goin' in for the souls of enemy champions, not really the minions. this allows Rek to benefit by having a way to CC/apply stacks quickly, and also offers the enemy some room for counter play (flashing to units to stop the stun and not give Rek more stacks of his passive).
E - Haunt If a target has any amount of Expose Soul Rek can leap to the target, applying another stack, and bringing Rek to melee Range. After Haunt is activated, Rek can then reactivate the ability to bound backwards, not requiring a target to do so. Thought Behind This - This is really Rek's bread and butter and I think the most important ability in his kit. This lets him finally reap the advantages of his melee prowess (yes, again, pun intended... I've been watching too much LCS... thanks Phreak). I think its fair that Rek already needs a stack of his passive, so he can't just jump in right off the bat and start swing at someone, also, the bound backwards, if done correctly, can provide to be a great escape/further engage (E'ing a minion, then bounding backwards further to a champion) mechanism.
R - Soul Shroud/Soul Nova Rek goes invisible for 4 seconds, and after that time or upon reactivation, he explodes a huge nova of souls around him, the closer enemies are to Rek, the more stacks of Expose soul are applied to them and the more damage is done to them. Also, for each Target hit Rek is granted a shield based off of how many stacks that target had, and % attack damage of Rek himself. Thought Behind This - This gives Rek a really good team fight presence, and allows him some strategic options so he doesn't just get targeted down & beaten up. It helps him kick start his passive and also make him a little bit more tankier for a brief period of time.
So! That's my idea for a melee ADC, kinda weird, but the more I think about it, and the more tweaking I do, the more it grows on me. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions/ideas/opinions!
Still thinking about different names for him too... haha.
