[Champion Concept] Anara, the Shepherdess of lost spirits

Introduction:

This Champion is allowed to be fully taken over by Riot for League of Legends, including all rights to be published in the game.

Hello fellow folks, first of all, you don't need to point out all the mistakes I am doing, i am not English. x) Today I will present to you Anara, the shepherdess of lost spirits. Anara is a champion, which main duty is to support her allies. But she is not doing it on her own. She has a fellow companion, whose name is Faeras, a spiritual being in form of a mythical beast. This companion is declared as an own unit, which would bring a new aspect into League. The Gameplay is mainly built around Faeras and the interactions between the two. Faeras represents the supporter role, while Anara is able to function as a damagedealer. My idea was to invent a champion who can fulfill the protective role as well as the role of a damagedealer. Giving a champion a companion, which can be killed, is somewhat new in League. Until now we only got Champions like Lulu, Quinn, Kindred, etc., but they don't really rely on their companions. Their companions are not really influencing the gameplay at all, strictly speaking they are not even existing. You could also just remove their companions, but this wouldn't influence their kit or gameplay at all, because these companions are only for "show". The abilities are only built on the mainchampion. The companions don't really have a real role. I hope you'll like my concept and give me some feedback I can work with.

---------------Lore---------------

Anara has always been a strange person. Born in Ionia, she always distanced hersel from all the other people, staying alone, keeping her beloved slingshot with her. Several healers tried to cure her from her alleged suffering. But nothing worked to get her speaking. The Elders didn't know what was wrong with Anara. The only thing they knew was that Anara would play a significant role in the life of every being. But it wasn't clear whether she would lead to chaos or peace. Some people only saw her as a bad omen. Noxus was about to attack Ionia, and a riot forced the Elders to exile Anara. Such radical measurements weren't common in Ionia. It seemed like Anara knew about her punishment, and she was even leaving at her own will.

Just before Anara was about to leave, she turned, smiled at her people and said, that she was thankful for everything they did for her. This was the first time she spoke, and the people immediately regretted their action. They begged her to stay, but she said that it was her destiny and leaved.

Anara leaved Ionia and went on a journey. She kept her slingshot with her, giving her the feeling of safety, though she had never used this simple construction before. She passed wide barren plains, big mystical forests and silent waters. The nature had something magical, the silence itself seemed to be alive. Anara could feel beings around her, whispering in her ear, calling for help. Anara always thought that these were just imaginations, but on certain voice was special. It sounded so clear and familiar, Anara felt connected to it.

One day Anara saw a group of travelers rolling down the rough ground on their cart. Anara knew that it was going too fast, the wheels were about to break and they would fall into the cliff. She saw death coming, but a shadow caught her attention. It moved very fast between the trees. It reached the cart, causing it to get overthrown to the side. The people were injured, but they were alive. The shade was gone, and the people seemed to have not even realized it.

Suddenly Anara could feel a great presence behind her, as if the sun was standing there, burning and draging her. The familiar voice spoke to her, and Anara instantly turned around. And there was Faeras, standing on top of rocks, in a godly posture, having a fur so bright as the sun itself, an antler fitting for a king, and an aura throbbing with life. The mystical beast looked into her eyes, and it seemed like they would understand each other without any words. Anara knew that Faeras had a holy duty, but he can't manage it on his own. In prophecies, both of their souls were actually one and the same, on the same duty for an eternity. Anara should be the shepherdess of which Faeras tries to protect. Souls all over the world, regardless if alive or in form of essences of ghosts, they needed her protection.

But Anara couldn't sort her thoughts. She didn't knew if she was ready for such a duty. She was just overwhelmed and couldn't think clearly. When she was looking around as if she would search for her mother, she saw the injured travelers. They were still lying on the ground. Anara couldn't just ignore those people, and she leaved Faeras for now. After the people thanked her for her help, Anara searched for Faeras, but it seemed that he left. Anara felt a bit nostalgic, dragging her back to Ionia. With the help of the travelers she could easily orientate herself and began to walk back home, not aware of what would stand before her.

Anara felt, how the air began to change, to thicken. The kind of air she missed so much. She was already near, but something bothered her. Anara wasn't able to feel even one living being, no sound was to hear. It was like the nature was dead. Anara knew that something has happened, and she began to instinctively hurry.

She stood at the edge of the woods, with an open view on Ionia. He beloved home was devastated, stood in flames, and soldiers slaughtered helpless people. The flag of Noxus was waving in the screaming wind. Anara didn't know about this, and she fell on her knees, screaming and crying, falling into despair. But it was at this moment, while her eyes were drowned in tears and her body unable to move, when her mind got clear. She didn't hear the roaring soldiers, the clanking of swords or the desperate screams of the people. The only thing she could hear was the call for help. And the voice began to become louder, and more voices would appear. It was as if the souls of the dead were still trying to save their home. Anara took reflexively her slingshot, though she didn't know what she was exactly going to do. But she knew one thing for sure: her help was needed, and she would help, no matter what. Her body was moving absently on it's own, striking down one and another soldier fluently. Her slingshot in her hands, firing spectral orbs at the soldiers. Suddenly a big warrior was standing right next to her, the sword was already midair, aiming for her throat. Anara looked at the sword, and time seemed to stand still. Anara didn't fear it at all, she felt rather safe. And at that moment the warrior got torn apart. She already knew who saved her life. Faeras was standing by her side, knowing that Anara was ready for her duty. They looked into each others eyes, and it felt like they would knew each other for an eternity.

At that day both were fighting for Ionia, for all the lost souls that called for help. The souls need their protection, and so Anara symbolized together with Faeras the Shepherdess of lost spirits.

Anara fires with her slingshot spectral orbs, Faeras is attacking with his paws.


Appearance:

Anara should represent a young woman, who has a white dress on. She carries a slingshot with her. She got white long hair. Faeras represents a mystical beast, which is lightly covered in armor with runic signs on it. He has hornlike antlers and is similiar to a predator.

Abilities:

Passive: Faeras

Faeras is declared as an own unit. He gains passive effects from items, which Anara possesses, means that e.g. Sunfire Cape's passive is working for both. But procs, e.g. Trinity, are not included. If Faeras dies, he will respawn after 80 seconds on the side of Anara (CDR is possible). Cannot be further away than 700 units from Anara. Faeras got two modes, in which he devolves depending on the currently used ability.

  • Protectormode (triggered by Q):

Faeras and the protected champion each gain 10%/12.5%/15% damage resistence. If Anara is getting protected, the damage resistance will only be the half. Faeras attacks the unit, which is attacking the protected champion.

  • Attackmode (triggered by E):

Faeras deals additional magical splash damage (20/30/40 (+ 0.25 AP), 100/125/150 radius) and leaves a trail (100 radius) at the attacked position, which will deal half of the additional damage as absolute damage after 1 second. In this mode Faeras will follow the focused enemy to stay in his range.

NOTE: The increase of the stats are at level 1/11/16. Prioritizes enemy champions, that are near the protected champion (Protectormode)/ that are focused by Anara (Attackmode). Faeras starts in the Protectormode and follows Anara.


Q: Guard the weak (Protectormode)

Faeras is being sent to an ally. The ally gains an increase in movement speed of 45%/50%/55%/60%/65% for 1 second and removes slows. He stays 4/5/6/7/8 seconds with the ally and returns after that to Anara.

If it is not targeted at any ally or on Anara, Faeras returns to Anara. Can be reactivated to call Faeras directly back. The cooldown of Strike them down is getting reduced by 4 seconds at activation.


Mana: 70/70/80/90/90 Cooldown: 15/14/13/12/11 seconds after the 4/5/6/7/8 seconds or after the return. Range: 650

Note: This is not a skillshot and therefore not blockable.


W: Call of the shepherd

Faeras calls all spirits around him, binding every other champion around him. Anara is not effected by it.

This call can be hold until 4 seconds. Per every binded champion enemy champions get slowed by 10%/12%/14%/16%/18%, allied champions get increased damage of 6%/7%/8%/9%/10%. These stats can't exceed 45%.

Faeras gets slowed by 20%. This number increases with every other second by 5%.

During the call Anara increases her attackspeed and her movement speed by 9%/10%/11%/12%/13% per second.

This ability can be cancelled by reactivating.


Mana: 80 Cooldown: 21/20/19/18/17 seconds Range at activation: 550 Range during call: 675

Note: At activation this ability effects only champions up to the range of 550, but its range increases to 675, so champions don't have it too easy to leave the area.


E: Strike them down (Attackmode)

Anara and Faeras are rushing towards the targeted area, each dealing 120/145/170/195/220 (+ 0.5 bonus AD, + 0.2 AP) physical damage. The damage in the targeted area increases by 20%/25%/30%/35%/40%.

Enemy champions in the targeted area get stunned for 0.5 seconds and their resistances get decreased by 10%/12%/14%/16%/18% for another 3 seconds. After that Anara jumps half of the way back.


Mana: 70/80/90/100/110 Cooldown: 18 Sekunden Range: 700 Targeted area: Radius of 150


R: One and the same soul

Passive:

If Faeras dies, a part of his soul combines with Anara. Allies around her get speed up by 25% for 2.5 seconds. Anara gets a buff of 20% on all her stats. This lasts for 15 seconds.

Active:

Anara appears at Faeras' side and merges with him. Enemies receive 250/300/350 (+ 0.3 AP + 0.4 AD) magical damage. Depending on which mode Faeras was before the activation, Aneras (Anara + Faeras) gets different buffs and effects.

  • Protectormode:

Summons up to 3 spirits, each protecting another allied champion. They absorb 20%/25%/30% of incoming damage. They disappear after 5 seconds and heal their protected champion by the amount of damage absorbed over 3 seconds.

Aneras has the combined health and resistances of Anara and Faeras and is able to increase his max health with it.

Strike them down isn't available in this mode. Guard the weak knocks enemies from the allied champion away, but not granting a buff on their mobility.

  • Attackmode:

Aneras has the combined AD and AS of Anara and Faeras. His MS is increased by 15%/20%/25% and his damage is increased by 10%/12.5%/15%. Autoattacks deal additionally 20/30/40 magical damage.

Guard the weak isn't available in this mode. Strike them down won't let Aneras jump back and the cooldown on it decreases by 8 seconds.


Aneras lasts for 10 second until Anara and Faeras split up. In both modes Call of the shepherd is going from Aneras, but not effecting his mobility.

Tips:

Playing as Anara:

  • Faeras plays an important role in her kit, so don't let him take too much unnecessary damage.
  • Faeras is able to prevent a lot of damage from allies while dealing damage as well. Try to utilize this fact.
  • Anara is getting really dangerous with a few items. Due to her W she gains a massive buff to make her even more damgerous.
  • The ultmate is very flexible and can turn fights if used properly. The |Tank| Aneras is good in teamfights, while the |Damage| Aneras is shining in small skirmishes.
  • Anara is most effective around a lot of champions.

Playing against Anara:

  • Faeras has weak stats, so try to punish Anara if she is positioning Faeras badly.
  • You should keep an eye (or two) on Anara AND Fearas.
  • Anara has a weak early game. Try to apply as much pressure on her as possible.
  • If Faeras dies, Anara is completely open to engages and etc. so try and punish her quickly.

[I know, that this concept may have some similarities with e.g. Kindred (her being in the role of the grimreaper and having an comrade), but please do not judge by this factor alone.]

I feel like her lore fits in a similar area as kindred and her abilities similar to Lulu and Kindred combined. I feel like she fits into the Enchanter area.

This is a really gud kit for tandem units for 1 champion

for the R passive, if Faerus heals Ana and her allies when he dies, then whats the point of killing him. Taking him out should be rewarding for the the other team, not make them feel bad

Well, I really like the concept, a lot, but I do think the numbers are a bit over-tuned. Unless I'm reading something wrong here, just looking at her W and E and you're looking at, during a teamfight, let's say you get 2 allies and 3 enemies in her W range, which I don't think will be that hard to do. She will provide those two allies with +45% damage, those 3 enemies will have a 45% slow all for 4 seconds, and on top of that a few of those enemies will have an additional 18% resistance decrease.

Compare that to just a Vlad ultimate which just increases damage dealt to the champions in a much smaller radius by 10% Anara can do a lot more, much quicker. Ignoring True Damage those allies will be getting 63% increase in their damage, and if the players are actually good Anara might be able to give that buff to 3 or 4 of her allies. That's terrifying.
