Overall Suggestions for Game QoL

So, I have been playing league of legends nearly religiously since about the 15th of September of 2010 (a week or so into release of Miss Fortune). I have over 10k games under my belt easily. I've noticed a lot of things, and have played many other games and thought of some things that might help you (Riot) out on ideas or concepts for improving the system a little. I was reading your "Ask Riot" thread you posted on the home screen of the game, and I decided to finally (once again) input my two cents. I will summarize this in a few categories and as short as possible (I am known for my essay and novel like length of text. I'll do my best!)

Game Client:

Homepage: I know you are seeking to provide players with a low end game that can run on most computers no matter how bad. The alpha client didn't quite feel like it met that quota. Having options before logging into the game would be a good start. The capability of turning down the graphics or fine tuning them before logging onto the client will help with some users to start with. I know the alpha client is flashy and cool looking, but having an option to remove particle effects, removing videos from the splash page, and dimming down all the effects would do computers great good. Again, this is just a option for users to be able to disable it before actually logging into the screen. You can create the option of the news feed to be text format that if they click on it they can still view videos and content without taxing their computer unwillingly.

On the other hand, I would think it would be great if there wasn't 2 clients on at a time. When you get to loading screen, it opens another client. This has always caused issues with many lower end computers, I've noticed. Incorporating a system where it's like fighting games out there (I've been playing a Naruto Ultimate Ninja game lately) where, you can solo campaign and do a PVP match, it's all on a client, you just load the map the characters, and settings from there. You can also allow mini games while waiting for queue to help with people (especially those infamous 20 minute queue times for challenger) waiting and taking their mind off of the long queue. It can just be a small mini game. Years back, I created a card game for league of legends. Perhaps you could have a small card game where you play a match against everyone in that queue lobby. I can edit the card game and present you the idea if you want to buy into it for future reference. The editing of the card game would be very short games, that would only last a couple minutes at most, but it can be fun and engaging. You can also have cards be earned through the hextech crafting system instead of champions. That way people can buy their champions with the tokens for 1800 ip.

Alternatively, you could have the cards just added without removing anything previous and it can help the diversity of pulls with the hextech chests. You can implement a full card game system that isn't short 2 minute games, to where players can take a break and play that. They can buy packs with ip (I have more ip than I know what to do with. Season 5 my ip was over 900k.) Or they can purchase with micro transactions, or they can earn them after games as rewards, or just through card matches at rewards as well. There is a cornucopia of ideas we can do, and I have millions.

Champ Select/Loading:

Alright Alright, I can go on for days about my above ideas. so before I make this anymore TL;DR for you poor souls reading, lets move on.

This was a question in your Q & A, and I would like to address a few things. Auto-fill is a great thing, however, you are right. Too many people rage quit, or they will intentionally try to get you to dodge if they get a support role. I love and ADORE the auto-fill feature, but one problem. You're potentially showing players in a role they aren't good or comfortable in. That means you are creating a deficit for the team with the auto fill. Already that team has the handicap. You can create a system where a person must have a mastery rank of 1 of every single role, before allowing to rank. They must have at least 1 support, jungle, mid, adc, and top, that way they are experienced in the role enough to play ranked. This is only one idea, it will get rid of the problem causers from being able to even enter ranked. You don't' have to be good or pro at the champ, but you need EXPERIENCE with the champ so you have someone to fall back on when auto fill hits you in the face.

Secondly, I want to focus on the dodge system. Look for consistency, have a monitor that notices when you dodge (you have this) but also will see how frequent you dodge and why. If you're net is THAT unstable where you DC every 5 minutes, you shouldn't be playing ranked. And thus ranked should be locked from your computer until the monitor finds a more stable connection. Same with fps, if you lag and have low FPS, you should be locked from ranked play. Ranked play is for people who are serious and want to improve themselves and potentially be pro. Being drug down because 1 person dc's all game, another has over 600 latency, and the last one had auto-fill and isn't good. Isn't fair for the people who are trying their best. That's why I want to present you this this gem.

Player swap. If in a ranked game and someone in mid game DC's, the game will pause, allowing the player to get back in the game. After a 5 minute timer, a new timer will start. This allows the player to get back in game if it takes awhile to boot up, but also in the chance he isn't coming back, he will be replaced by a selection. On your profile, you can select a button or option rather that allows you to quality to pick up a game of a dropped player. You must play that champ, but you choose your summoners, your runes and masteries, and you load into the game as that champion. As the game is paused any new entry will be loaded for every player as if it's champ select but nothing will change. That player will be rewarded with bonus IP (say 10%-20% boost) for being willing to pick up a game in the middle. Also he will be LP loss prevented. Meaning if he loses a game, he won't lose LP because he tried to pick up a potentially losing game to try and help the team with their deficit. However he will be awarded less LP for a win, but the scaling goes up still.

What I mean by scaling is, if you win so many games in a row, you have the possibility to skip divisions. The player will be protected from losing that scaling or LP but only gains (less than a full game) that if he wins. Yes LP gain is reduced depending on how long the game is in. If the game has been 30 minutes, half lp gain. This means if he loses, he won't lose LP BUT he could potentially be wasting his time not gaining any either in a 30-40 minute game trying to salvage any damages. If it's before the "remake" system happens, he will be charged like it's a normal game. Anything over 10 minutes will be reduced LP. He starts with the same levels, and all items the previous player had will be converted 1 for 1 into gold. He will have the same EXP as his adc or within a 25% exp error margin. Want to know the best part!?! It actually allows and complies with the vote kick system. Everyone vote kicks a player, the game pauses, and seeks another player. That means if you afk on re-spawn, and just move around so you don't get kicked, players can vote kick you, and find a new player! (I get those players A LOT) Anyone with a vote kick history cannot become a fill in player, people with bad net and fps, DC, and/or leave game issues, cannot be fill ins. The more successful non kicked fill ins you complete and honors you get, the more you can allow higher LP gain (up to normal) for each fill in game. Maybe I'm being crazy and too giving on that last one right?

A system for loading screen, can be a chat system where you can speak to everyone loading in. That allows you to pas the time easier, and not have to alt tab and open the closed client shell to speak with people you were talking to pre game. This would be a really popular feature, and I am sure many would prefer it over watching the game load with nothing else. It shouldn't hurt low end computers either unless you make the chat a overlay function that appears as a overlay on the screen for in game also. That might tax computers, but implementing a chat into loading is something to look into. If you MUST make it an overlay, have an option to enable chat overlay, instead of forcing it and having them to remove it themselves.

I've noticed there are games out there that allow you to use a previous form of the game. Runescape used to do it, though now, I don't know if they still do. Where you can choose to go to the classic game style or an updated version of the game with better graphics and better movement systems. Honestly, allowing players to play with graphics of equal quality of the old old client, might be better for some than what it is now. I know my old dual core 1.5 GB RAM used to run old league of legends at 30 fps, now it can't even get into game. So really, you increased the graphics while trying to make them sharp and nice looking. Give an option for people to run an older client on models.

Social:

Alright before I rant too much on some of the actual game issues because I have new ideas I would love to present, but don't want to take up more of your time than i already am, I am going to move it to the social aspect of the game.

Clubs is something I want to talk about. I love the idea of clubs, having only 3 clubs is kinda a bummer, I wish we could have more. However, quality over quantity, so having a club is a nice way to chat and communicate with people and no have to clutter your friends list. What about adding levels to the club? Being able to level the club up and have benefits, making it more appealing to have many people in a club, rather than separating your friends and juggling multiple clubs. Create individual rooms where the groups can go to and talk more while still being able to chat with all the members. Filter system to read what a certain person is saying and clicking who you want to see and not see messages in the club from so you can have a conversation with a person without thumbing through the many people talking to find the persons post only for it to scroll up at the speed of sound.

Club levels can take on traits and qualities like the spamming of mastery level in game, instead you can spam a club symbol or crest. You can have a small icon to the top or right of the name identifying your club. You can have items that come in the hextech chests (like orange essence, gemstones) free items where you still get your chest contents however you can get club materials to level the club. This might encourage people to get s rank on more champs than the ones they play. (also earlier remember the League of legends cards, you can make them free items also that come packaged with the contents of the chest). Not only will this make opening chests more exciting for some people, but this can also add flair to the club and it can also have an achievement system (remember that thing everyone was wanting so bad!?!?!)

Hmm, lets cut to the chase, Achievement system is next. I really was looking forward to it and I know hundreds of my friends years ago asked me about it and if I knew anything about it. I honestly didn't, but I was excited for it. I think you should come back out with it. You can make key fragments, keys, chests, RP ( a little, say no more than a 975 if you complete all or ones in total), IP, Special wards skins and icons made specifically for the achievement system, and materials in hextech crafting as rewards (Things like materials for the card game, materials for clubs, materials for crafting special things ect). It helps newbies get their champs and runes quicker. Some achievements can be games played of each game mode, it can be buying so much RP total and at a time, earning so much ip, unlocking every champion, unlocking all runes (which by the way I requested to you and you haven't fixed. I am unable to buy more runes.... I am almost done too..), you can have achievements for champion masteries: "You're first 5 mastery." "6" "7" so on. And then have it like "10 mastery 5, 6, 7" ect. And you can have custom games, special game modes. Goals and temporary ones. Like a holiday achievement only during the holidays, you can add titles and have the title show up in game above your name in game. You can get fun and whacky with them. I literally have tons of ideas and I think the community can feed you with enough to make your head spin. It will make the community more active, and everyone loves to be fancy, or else skins wouldn't be so popular. People like to look special, they like to be complimented and look different and unique. This opens that world to them and it can get more people engaged as well as you can find more marketing through this. I can fill you with so much, it's not funny. I've only every asked for your time.

To end this long TL;DR, if anyone needs to get a hold of me in game is best. My in game name is: l handsomejack l Skype is: Himeonizuka Riot, you can e-mail me, you know my contact information. I don't usually log into the site itself though, so please e-mail me or contact me through any of those other methods. Anyone can contact me, riot is not responsible for my given info.

Thank you all for your time and patience.
