#[Rajen, The…Surprise Baker]

>---------

##LORE Most champions come to the Institute of War already with a name to themselves. They have a history of great actions, terrible secrets, horrific tragedies, or infamous births. Somewhere on Runeterra you will find civilians that can tell you the stories of the great fighters on the Rift.

And then there’s Rajen.

A young summoner a few years ago was getting ready to channel his champion when something went wrong. It has happened some times where a summons goes awry. Usually it fades, sometimes there are explosions, sometimes transformations. It’s impossible to predict the outcome as the magic of the world is wild and still not entirely understood, but it was still a shock to all involved when the summon finished and a champion stood on the fountain.

The man wearing an apron covered in flour looked around confused for a few moments, asked what was going on and what he needed to do before picking up a torch and obediently making his way to his position. The summoners initially were ready to accept the loss for that day, but then even more surprises were in store for them. The man began to win, even against the other well known icons of the league, and his team eventually won the match. With the fight over, the surprise champion disappeared back to where he came from.

After that match, the institute delved into its research and sent out missives all over Runeterra to try and figure out who this fighter was, but nothing came to them. No one knew who this person could possibly be, and after several months and no leads, the summoners gave up on their search, letting that match be left as one they joked about around their water coolers.

Then, two years after that day, a grizzled man walked through the doors of the institute with boxes of breads and cakes. He smiled and laughed at the looks of shock everyone gave him. He merely cracked a bottle of wine and asked to dine with the people who gave him so much fun those years ago. They all ate, and laughed, and celebrated, and enjoyed the infectious, friendly man that had brought them such delicious food and wine. When the night was late, the man, this strange, charming baker named Rajen, packed his things and bid the summoners farewell with a simple parting request. “If’n ye ever need mah help in those fights ag’in, gimme a call. Ain’t ne’er had so much fun in me life.”

With that, he saluted them and walked out the doors of the institute, still leaving the summoners confused as they forgot to ask from what country he came from. >---------

##ABILITIES ##[Passive] -- Lite the Kindling Whenever Rajen exits brush he had been in for at least 2 seconds, he lights it on fire. Brush burns for 8 seconds, dealing (6-45)(+10% AP) Magic Damage to all enemies in it every 0.5 seconds. When the fire goes out, the brush is blackened and can’t be set on fire again for 300-200 (Based on level) seconds, affected by cooldown reduction.

Blackened brush still creates fog of war, but anything moving in the brush will cause the whole area to rustle, creating visual and sound effects.

##[Q] -- Flailing Rajen swings his torch in a cone in front of him twice before charging forward in a line. The first two swings each do 20/35/50/65/80 (+60% Bonus AD) Physical Damage to all in the area. The charge deals 50/80/120/170/230 (+100% Bonus AD) Physical Damage to all enemies in the line. Cost: 40/45/50/55/60 Mana| Cooldown: [6 seconds]

##[W] -- Flour Power Rajen hurls a bag of flour at an area, dealing 60/100/140/180/220 (+80% Bonus AD) Physical damage to those in a small area, and applying “Dust” to enemies and the field in a wider area. “Dust” lasts for 6 seconds. Enemies with “Dust” who take damage from Rajen’s passive continue to take damage for 2 seconds after leaving area affected by his passive. “Dust” on the field lasts for 30 seconds and can be lit on fire with Light the Kindling just like Brush, consuming the “Dust” in the area.

Overlapping “Dust” on the field, and overlapping “Dust” and brush are all considered one area when Light the Kindling activates. If the “Dust” Field created would connect to an already existing fire, it catches immediately, but only lasts as long as the fire that started it. Cost: 50 Mana| Cooldown: [16/14/12/10/8 seconds]

##[E] -- Inspire the Underdog Rajen targets an allied caster minion below 50% health. That minion lets out a battle cry as it channels for 1.5 seconds before leaping at an enemy within 600 units of it and exploding, dealing 70/120/170/220/270 (+50% AP) Magic Damage and Slowing all in the area by 40% for 1.5 second (200 unit radius). Priority of targets goes enemy Champions, Summoned Creatures, Monsters, Minions.

Allied Minions affected by this are destroyed after the explosion and will reward half their gold value to the enemy champion that they targeted. If an enemy Champion was not targeted, no gold value is rewarded. Minions can be killed enroute, and any affect that stops champion special movement, stops the minion’s attack.

At Rank 3, this ability can target Melee Minions, at rank 5, it can target Canon Minions. Cost: 100 Mana| Cooldown: [26/22/18/14/10 seconds]

##[Ultimate] -- Bounty of the Land Passive: Plants on the rift leave behind seeds for 30 seconds after they’ve been used. Enemies can walk on top of seeds to destroy them. Rajen can collect these seeds and hold 1 of each type at a time.

Active: Rajen consumes all the seeds he has collected to augment the next cast of his abilities within the next 5 seconds.

A Scryer’s Seed causes his next Flailing to swing his torch 4 times in front of him over the same period and deal 50/100/150(+25% AP) Bonus Magic Damage on each swing.

A Blast Seed makes the next Flour Power throw a giant sack of flour with a blast seed inside, increasing the area of both the damage and the “Dust” affect and slowing all those damaged by it. The field is also automatically lit on Fire for Lite the Kindling.

A Honey Seed lets Inspire the Underdog target minions of any health level, the slow turns into a stun, and their channel is reduced to 0.5 seconds.] Cost: 100 Mana| Cooldown: [120/100/80 seconds]

The general idea was to make a Team Fighter like Rumble, but more AD/Bruiser build, and still with plenty of large zones of damage and not so much CC. I realize the Ultimate ability on other maps wouldn’t really work. I figure there would be set locations on those places (Like the crystals for Skarner) where the seeds would spawn periodically.

This concept originally came from a friend of mine who told me, “I want a champion of League who’s basically just a normal person, like Jeff, the Baker, who showed up and wanted to fight in the League just to see if he could do it, and he turned out to be really good.” So that’s what I tried to make. A champion who’s not here because of skill/glory/destruction, etc. He’s just messing around and doing whatever.

Rajen is supposed to look like that super friendly and playful Uncle/Grandpa that just wants everyone to have fun and party. Craggily brown hair and full beard, bit of a gut, maybe some flannel, and the ever-present dusty baker's apron.

What are your thoughts or how things might be tweaked?

I Almost made a stupid comment thanks to typos.

i think this might have some potential, but i need to say, the lore seems too much of an forced comic relief. No offense, it is not bad, but there were some spots where i asked myself "am i supposted to laugh?"

As for his kit. seems decent aswell. not too balanced, but not broken either. feels fair

Depending on how much you like to update your champions and for future posts: the Institute of War and League of Legends do not exist anymore. They were removed from the lore.

Now summoners do exist still but they are not bound to a specific faction like before. They are just people who conjure power or creatures, to my understanding.

Any champion in League who's lore is dependent on or includes the Institute or League is not cannon or that part of the lore is not cannon.

However I do have some suggestions about Rajen's lore beyond that.

The first thing is in his lore the most we learn about is Rajen is that he is a battle-eager Braum with a thicker accent. We don't get to learn about his past, who he is, or anything related to what he wants in the world.

See in Vayne's lore we get to learn about how Vayne's story in the world will pan out because she has the three most important things for a drive in a story. The first is that we know what she wants. She wants to slay and rid the world of evil. We know why she wants it. Because some vile demon, Evelynn, killed her parents. And we know how she's going to get it. By training the in the Freljord then tracking them down and hunting them personally.

This gives Vayne's story a clear path and direction. Rajen doesn't have this and we don't know why he exists in the world or what he wants. His story is just static, not moving.

Anyways I hope I helped. I'm not a crazy lore expert but I do have some significant experience writing it.

Great ideia interacting with bushes and plants that way. I think his W looks too much like GP's Powder Keg. I have no ideia what his E does, WTF O.o
