Leona + cinematic ultimate
So you all guys know the LoL cinematic "A new dawn".
So I have to say that whenever I see Leona's ultimate there I think it's really cool, and much more interesting concept than what we have now. I was thinking about reworking current Leona's ult to be more like the one in the cinematic and here is what I got:
Leona casts a continous beam of light. The ultimate divides into two sections:
- The beam itself.
- The splash around the beam. So it looks like two circles, one inside another. The smaller circle in the center (the beam) applies 90% slow to target it hits and a continuous damage (let's say 100 AP dmg per second), and here is the trick - the beam never stops if there is a target in it's center. So as long as there is something in the center, hit by the beam the ultimate duration is extended to infinite. So yeah, if you place a dummy and ult him the ultimate will never stop, it will constantly apply the 90% slow and 100 dmg per second.
This ultimate can be stopped by only two ways:
- There must be no champion target in the center (the beam). So let's say you run or flash away, then the ult stops.
- Leona cast's her R again to stop it (in case of some bug or something).
The splash around beam does (let's say) 50% slow, but doesn't apply dmg and does not extend the duration of her ultimate.
So what do you think guys? Imagine this as this continuous laser from sky that does dmg and slow, as long as there is an enemy champion in the middle of it. This does not work on jungle monsters because of obvious reasons.
I think this would add a more meaning to Leona's gameplay. The role of the ult would not change, it would be still a cc tool, but this time it would give the Leona player a feeling of power (demanding sun to laser eliminate her enemies just like Death Star or me when I was a kid and I was burning ants with a magnifier).
I also see some room here for cool meaningful plays, like let's say J4 catches 3 enemies with his ult and Leona ults her sun beam into arena. Instead of this small, simple poof, what you will see will be a giant laser from the sky eliminating what's inside the arena. Same effects, but ult is cool and gives you the feeling that your playing with a real demi-god.
Why 90% slow? Obviously the continuous dmg (although small) might be destructive if the beam is active for longer period of time, therefore I think we should give the opponents a chance to escape. A 90% slow is a nice line there between overpowered stun and insignificant slow that anyone can escape easily.
So, what do you think?
