Custom Skin Problems

Sorry I'm not sure where I should be posting this, but oh well. I've just gotten into custom skins and from what I have seen on Youtube they look amazing. And as any good fanboy thinks "I want one of those." So I downloaded everything a tutorial told me to and went to launch my game with my cool new skin. Only to discover that my new skin was completely blue and displayed none of the qualities I thought it would. I've searched the internet for a few days to no avail, someone please help me.
