**Ralk, Presage of the Storm **

Lore: Ralk grew up in a small village on Ionia, called Sitros. He was a normal boy by all means- he had friends, helped his mother with the farmwork, and was known to be a respectable young man. A storm was gathering overhead, when one day, a peculiar group approached Sitros. Ralk did not known who these men were. One man, with long dark hair, approached the village elder one day, demanding that they turn over any information they had on something called the Kinkou Order. The elder responded he had no idea what the young man was talking about. Not believing in the elder’s words, the teenager called for his men to search the village. These men, clocked in black clothing and wielding an assortment of weapons such as swords and shriken, brutally combed the village, ousting families from their homes and destroying village storerooms, which held their year’s supply of food. Outraged, the elder demanded they stopped, though his words were cut short when the dark haired youth slit his throat open. The elder fell, and the residents of Sitros let out a cry of anger and sadness. The men of the village gathered whatever they could - sickles, rakes, rocks- and fought the black cloaked men. This did not phase them, and Ralk watched as one of them turned into inky blackness, and pierced a man through the heart with his outstretched arm. Soon, the others were using their foul black magic to massacre the men of Sitros. Ralk watched as the fathers of the friends he knew were cut down in front of him. The villagers began to flee, and Ralk, held tightly by his mother, ran with them. He did not know where they were going, but his mother told him to stay silent. The dark haired youth had other plans. He turned to shadow and sprinted towards the fleeing villagers, laughing as he cut them down with his sword. Strife with fear, Ralk ran harder, leaving his mother behind him. It was only when he heard her gasp of surprise did he turn around and see the steel tip of a blade protruding from her breast. His mother, glassy eyed, told him to flee as she crumpled, the dark haired youth smiling behind her. Ralk stood in fear as he was approached. He begged to all the gods he knew- Val, god of the sun, Wynur, goddess of the sea, Lymos, god of life and death- until the man walked up to him, and pierced his stomach with the blade. With one last prayer, Ralk fell.

He awoke to the smell of fire. The village was burning, and the men who attacked him was no where to be seen. Ralk, in agony, tried to stand but could not. Heavily bleeding, he prayed over and over again, as lightning flashed above, and thunder boomed. Ralk was a safe distance away from any flames, but he continued to pray as he crawled towards his mother. Prayer, he had been taught, would bring your heart desires to fruition. He touched his mother’s hand, his tears mixing with the freshly falling rain. He cried, for the loss of his home, kith and kin. He sadness turned to anger, and he cursed the gods for being cruel, and allowing those shadow men to take what was dear to him. Thunder exploded above, as though the Storm God was amused at his pain. Ralk cursed and screamed as the storm intensified, and he only stopped when a bolt of lightning struck him.
Ralk felt no pain. He rose, shakily at first, but he felt stronger than he had before. The lightning strike had not killed him, but had seemed to empower him. He gazed at the now smoldering remains of his village and the corpse of his mother. With resolve he did not know he had before, Ralk swore to avenge all he had lost. Overhead, thunder clapped above, that sounded eerily as though one was laughing. Ralk failed to notice, as he gazed upward, with his hand stretched towards the sky. A bolt of lightning streaked upwards from his hand towards the heavens, piercing the clouds; behind the black storm clouds and rain, was a peaceful blue sky.

Role: Mage. To be played in mid lane, or even as support.

Abilities:

P: Thunder’s Blessing- Ralk gains health (70% AP + 10/20/30/40% current health) whenever he is affected by a slow, stun, silence or root after 4 seconds. Has an 80 - 44 second cool down, depending on level. A small bolt of lightning strikes him after 4 seconds, and he regains the health instantly. Electrified: Ralk’s abilities apply this debuff, with it lasting on enemies for 5/6/7/8 seconds.

Q: Fulmination - 30/40/50/60/70 mana. 12/11/10/9/8 CD . (Skill shot) Ralk unleashes a blast of lighting that connects with the first 4/5/6/7/8 targets, with the first target receiving the full damage, and the subsequent targets only getting 40% of the damage, prioritizing Champions. Applies a 15/20/25/30/35% slow for 2 seconds. Refreshes Electrified stack duration, but does not apply it unless used after E: Discharge. Deals magic damage: 60/70/80/90/100 (+80% AP)

W: Surge- 60/70/80/90/100 mana. 17/15/13/11/9 CD. (Skill shot) Ralk electrifies the battleground. Enemies that pass through it take some magic damage, get applied Electrified, a 20% slow, and grounding all units within it. Allies that pass through the electrified battle ground gain 20/25/30/35 (+5% AP) MS for that decays over 2 seconds, as well as having their next auto attack/ability being Energized for the next 5/6/7/8/9 seconds. Allies that strike enemy units with their Energized attacks from Surge apply Electrified stacks on those targets. Leveling up this ability increases the size of the area electrified. Deals Magic Damage: 40/45/50/55/60 (+20% AP)

E: - Discharge- 70/75/85/100/130 mana. 20/18/16/14/12 CD Passive: Ralk’s auto attacks apply Electrified. Does not work if the ability is on CD. Active: Ralk’s next ability or auto attack applies Electrified. The target(s) are subsequently rooted for 0.5/1/1.5 seconds

R: Amperage Arc - Consumes all current Mana. 160/120/80 CD Ralk channels for 2 seconds; while channeling, he is slowed by 70/80/90%. Afterwards,Ralk calls down a burst of lightning on all units affected by Electrified, no matter where they are on the map. This consumes Electrified. When enemy Champions are killed by this ability, Ralk gains back 20% of his maximum mana. Enemy champions that survive are stunned for 1.5 seconds. If no enemies have been Electrified, this ability cannot be used. Deals magic damage: 150/250/350 (+50% AP) (+30% Current Mana)

Gameplay:

As an immobile mage, Ralk is meant to be played behind his much tankier teammates. He is very squishy, as a way to balance out his high damage late game. From the backline, he can deal high amounts of damage, and finish off slippery enemy champions with his ultimate, given they have Electrified applied to them.
Ralk's common combos would be E -> W -> Q. His E would root the enemy champion, his W would apply a slow, Electrify, and deal a small amount of damage, and his Q would be the bulk of the damage when the enemy cannot move much. His R can be used at the end of that combo to finish off the enemy if they are low enough.
The best summoner spells on him would be either Flash/Ignite for kill potential, or Flash/Ghost, for chasing potential.
He is more commonly going to be played in the mid lane, though he can be played as a high damage support along the likes of Zyra and Brand.
Ralk is a character that would need a lot of mana, and building a tank item on him won’t hurt either. As a result, I believe a core build for his character would be: Rod of Ages-> Morellonomicon -> Spirit Visage.
Counters for Ralk would include high damage, evasive Champions. Who comes to mind includes Fizz, Zed and LeBlanc.

Thank you for reading my champion concept! I apologize for the length, but I personally find Ralk to be a fascinating champion, and I hope you do too!
