Thanks! Personally for me what I'd do is that I first paint the shade color. Afterwards, I use the eye dropper tool to see if I can pick up a shade of color in between the base color and the first shade color in order to get an intermediate shade that I can use to smooth out the gradient from the base color from to the shine/shade.
