Ranked ARAM

There's a ranked flex, solo/duo, and even twisted treeline, yet, there's no ranked ARAM. I know I, as well as many of my friends, would love to see this put in the game. Let me know if anyone else feels this way and let Riot know.

Ranked ARAM would be great, though there's a few required changes (e.g. all champs unlocked, promos removed) and some other possible tweaks (e.g. bans, reroll availability).

Oddly enough, there's a portion of the playerbase that's militantly opposed to the concept for whatever reason.

The first of many discussed issues is that

  1. it's ARAM wheree the team compositions are decided at random. Some may have it well rounded or one may just never outscale the enemy team comp.
  2. Players can load their account with champs that are considered "OP" on ARAM to gain an advantage. So they'll have a more consistent way of winning. ie: being able to roll Xerath out 20 champs than 150. The rate is much higher.
  3. With the 2 explained above, you'd be playing more or less a slot machine (not that LoL already is like one).

For (2), that's why champ pools would be a required change, with "All champs enabled" being the most common suggestion. The fact that summoner levels go past 30 now actually helps with this change as well. Ranked ARAM could unlock at a higher summoner level (e.g. 40 or 50) and require a certain number of owned champs to address the "players will play it for their League fix without having to buy champs or otherwise invest in their account" concern.

For (1) and (3), everyone has the same handicap, assuming the champ pool change. Considering ranked is a ladder setting rather than an elimination one, a relatively large number of games can be expected. An occasional "lose in champ select" game is fairly insignificant in the long-term. (Also why promos should be removed.) As such, the impact of luck is minimized, and individual differences in skill become more apparent. Of course, luck will always be a factor, but that's already the case currently. Complaining "I can't climb because bad champs/teamcomps" is pretty much the same as complaining "I can't climb because bad teammates."
