Final Performance: A Jhin-themed event adding 2 new interconnected champions and fun little mode

To preface this idea, I just wanted to say that I was a little disappointed in Jhin's release. He was built up to be some kind of serial killer supervillian with a taste for the more elegant side of bloodshed. Instead, he just ended up fairly generic in my eyes: nothing mechanically wrong with him, just lacking the finesse he so clearly portrays in his persona. He seemed to be of very little impact to the story of Runeterra as a whole as well, simply causing some inner turmoil with Zed and Shen before getting caught and re-released by the Ionian government. So to make him have more of a theatrical impact, I just quickly wrote up some ideas for champions that could be connected to him through some means of story, as well as a new game mode in which Jhin himself sits in as the announcer for the carnage. This in its entirety could give his release the meaningful shock it so clearly desired. Anyways, here's a few of my ideas.

Jihn Re-Release Concept:

Event Synopsis: Ionia is in a state of chaos. As Noxian forces continue to tighten their grip on the region, those that have so desperately clawed their way to power in the once-peaceful nation now fear the future of their stoic people will be doomed to subjugation if they do not act. It is in these desperate times that rash, impulsive actions will dictate the fate of an entire people. The true test begins; remain noble and steadfast to one’s peaceful state of mind or fall to the madness and allow emotions and animalistic rage to overcome one’s conscience. Unfortunately, it is at a man’s final hours that he reveals his true identity, either as a hero or a coward. And men of power are often proven to be cowards. With a single stroke of the feathered pen, outlaws and murderers were given free rein to counter the approaching Noxian advances. A frontline of cutthroats and highwaymen to withstand the onslaught as those in power desperately search for ways to extend their rule a little longer. It is on this blood-soaked battlefield that a legendary killer now leads a counterattack on the armies of a marauding nation. He is an artist; a performer with a thirst for the macabre and a lust for the thrill of bloodshed. A twisted individual with hundreds of fledgling followers, all thirsting for a chance to work with the master of death. And though the Council of Ionia deny any involvement with the release of this twisted, monstrous man, there are some that never stop at hunting the truth, even in the face of war and death. Perhaps this killer is the turning point the current rulers of Ionia so desperately need. Or perhaps, by releasing him, they have only solidified their impending doom.

New Champions

**Jhin, the Virtuoso: **Basically the same exact story we already have, only continuing from where Jhin receives his new weaponry. Released from prison and given a whole new array of fresh faces to slaughter, Jhin spearheads a resistance movement against the Noxian forces through fear and morbid displays. His group of inmate followers all crave his attention, which they almost never receive, making them fight incredibly hard and spill extraordinary amounts of blood just for a passing glance of their master. Among these followers is Vivian, a young girl whose passion for pain and death almost mirrors Jhin’s own. Often seen dancing in the blood of either herself or her enemies, she is the only one Jhin ever really speaks to among his followers, despite her constantly drifting mind and seemingly uninterested attitude towards Jhin’s work. However, not all are so impressed with his criminal feats. Because he operates exclusively within Noxian-controlled territory, Jhin has attracted the attention of countless enemy lawmen, to which he pays no mind to. Despite this dismissive attitude, there is still one man who is determined to capture him and prove that he was released by the Ionian Council independently, long before Noxian forces reached his prison. He will not rest until he uncovers the corrupt forces at work behind the council’s curtains. Nevertheless, Jhin now works tirelessly to create masterpieces he could only dream of before, with weapons and technology far beyond his old kit.

**Vivian, the Elegant Masochist: **A deranged dancer and once-proud actress at a noble theater, Vivian is a delusional killer with an admiration for pain and bloodshed. As a child she was extraordinarily fascinated with personal suffering, leading her to constantly push her body to its limits in both its physical and mental aspects. From this dedication to self-torture, she began a career as a famous Ionian dancer; eager to perform extremely painful and dangerous shows to please her audience. From all corners of the world, people would gather to watch her gruesome and incredibly unique performances. However, this love for suffering eventually led some to concern as she began to come dressed to shows painted in her own blood. Soon it became clear that the amount blood needed exceeded far beyond her own body’s capability and as her audience numbers began to wane, Vivian found herself in a world of uncertainty. Her love for violence had built her into a household name among royals but soon the shock factor of her acts became more disturbing and disgusting than entertaining or enticing. This slow decline drove her to madness and she was eventually caught attempting to drain the veins of her understudies in preparation for her last and most extreme show. Thrown into an Ionian prison, Vivian lived four long years in isolation before the council-sanctioned release of all inmates. Once again free to express her love for violence, Vivian now operates as an agent of death alongside her commander Jhin. He is her most trusted advisor simply due to her unrelenting devotion to pain and the beauty that comes with it. Together, they lead a legion of rabid inmates on a mission to show Noxians the true meaning of suffering and bloodshed.

Reynauld, the Unrelenting Lawman: An ambitious young detective working towards capturing the elusive murderers of Noxian soldiers, Reynauld is a man who upholds the law with extreme prejudice. An orphan left at the steps of an Enforcer Facility in the Noxian capital, Reynauld grew up surrounded by those loyal to the preservation of a clean and just living amongst society. It was here that he learned how to hold his own in combat, as well as the vital policing skills he would need to uphold the law on the brutal streets of Noxus. However, the nature of his society deemed him unable to rise in the ranks of power without first making a name for himself. Unable to compete physically with the other monstrously sized cadets, Reynauld decided on taking a different path, one rarely every considered by Noxian officials; the smart way. He believed that all he needed to prove himself was to capture one of the biggest crime lords in Runeterra. A goal deemed impossible by his colleagues but not by Reynauld. He knew he stood no chance against the enemy if he used the brute force tactics his fellow lawmen often employed, but if he could just take his time and gather the information needed to make a bust piece by piece, he could finally infiltrate a crime syndicate and bring one of the elusive shadows looming over Noxus to his or her righteous end. Unfortunately for Reynauld, fate had other plans, and his division of lawmen were shipped to Ionia to enforce Noxian rule amongst the rowdy citizens. Disappointed in his inability to carry out his plan, Reynauld journeyed to Ionia only to discover that an entire battalion of Noxian soldiers had been massacred in the town he was to be stationed in; their bodies propped up to display various macabre poses. Both disgusted and intrigued, Reynauld began his investigation into the deaths of the men and quickly discovered a pattern. Everywhere their bodies were found, rose petals were scattered in some kind of ornate display around their posed corpses. As time unfolded, it was revealed that legendary criminal Khada Jhin had escaped prison and was responsible for the resurgence of these colorful killings. However, Reynauld dismissed the idea that the Noxian invasion had caused this man’s release back into the world, and as he studied the killings more, the evidence of Ionian assistance became clearer and clearer. Now Reynauld works in pursuing the evidence that Jhin and his colleagues were knowingly released by the Ionian Council in a desperate attempt to stave off the Noxian approach, and he will stop at nothing until those responsible for these disgusting murderers are tried and executed.

Champion Ability Overview

Vivian, the Elegant Masochist Thirst for Pain (Passive): Vivian covets personal injury and believes that pain is the only way to transcend one’s mind to a higher plane of thought, gaining 1 stack each time she is attacked by an enemy champion or large jungle monster. After she obtains 3 stacks, the next attack against her will grant Vivian a short burst of movement speed and attack speed, as well as a small amount of lifesteal. The ability will then go on a short cooldown, which is decreased each time she is attacked during this period. **Slice Through (Q): **Vivian cuts through an enemy with her sickles, dashing a short distance and dealing damage to enemies she passes through. This ability also causes the target to bleed over time if used against an enemy champion. If this ability kills an enemy, her passive is instantly refreshed. Mask of Spring/Mask of Autumn (W): Vivian switches between two different performance masks, each imbued with a different magical energy. While wearing her Mask of Spring, Vivian gains a small amount of increased movement speed and health regen but has a decreased crit chance and attack speed. While wearing her Mask of Autumn, Vivian gains increased lifesteal and is guaranteed to crit after every third attack but will slowly lose health over time. The amount of health lost will increase the longer the mask is worn, forcing her to remain cautious in its usage.
**Mounting Lacerations (E): **Vivian has a vast array of knowledge about pain and ways to inflict it with her sickles, passively granting her bonus damage against targets that are bleeding. Upon activation, Vivian swings her sickles in an area around her, dealing damage and bleeding all enemies near her. If the enemies affected by this ability have 50% or less health, it will also apply a slow. **Ballet of Blood (R): **Vivian prepares for her greatest performance yet, instantly creating a massive circle of patterns made from blood around her position. While in this circle, Vivian has greatly increased movement speed and lifesteal, as well as unlimited usage of her passive. At the end of this duration, Vivian gains life for each enemy killed within this circle. Enemies that leave the radius of the circle before the end of the ability are slowed for a brief duration and silenced.

Reynauld, the Unrelenting Lawman Hot on the Trail (Passive): Reynauld utilizes his training as a Noxian investigator to his advantage on the battlefield, granting him the ability to see the footprints of all enemies near him after standing still for 1.5 seconds. If an enemy has been in the nearby area in the past 45 seconds, he or she will leave footsteps trailing to their current location similar to Ekko’s ult. While following these footprints, Reynauld will gain greatly increased movement speed and display a portrait of the enemy his currently tracking above his name. This can be extremely useful at pursuing enemy junglers or figuring out where weaker enemies have scattered off to at the end of team fights, allowing him to catch the unwary opponent totally off-guard. Blackjack (Q): Reynauld smacks an opponent with his studded club, dealing damage to a targeted enemy and slowing him or her briefly. If Reynauld was tracking the targeted enemy, this ability will also stun and do increased damage. **Grapple (W): **Reynauld fires a grappling line from his wrist, shooting out a cable in a target direction that will attach itself to various objects in the environment. If the cable hits an enemy, it will do physical damage and pull Reynauld to his or her location. If the cable hits an ally, he or she will be pulled to Reynauld’s location. If the cable hits an object or wall, Reynauld will be pulled the end final destination of the cable. If the cable hits nothing, it will go on a short cooldown. Noxian Peacekeeper (E): Reynauld lobs one of his enforcement grenades at a target location, dealing magic damage and blinding all enemies in the initial blast radius. If this ability hits an enemy that Reynauld is currently tracking, it will stun all enemies inside the initial blast as well. **Eliminate Suspect (R): **Reynauld surveys the battlefield for his next target using his gathered information, revealing all enemy champions for a brief moment. During this period, he can mark any enemy revealed this way, placing a contract above his or her head. Allies moving towards an enemy marked this way have greatly increased movement speed and Reynauld will instantly begin tracking a route to the target no matter how far away he is. This mark will remain on the enemy for 30 seconds and if the target is killed, the cooldown of this ability is reduced by half.

New Temporary Game Mode (Final Performance)

**Game Mechanics: **Final Performance is a testament to the beauty of carnage and the amazing displays a warrior can give when pushed to give one’s all. It functions similarly to a standard game of 5v5 Summoner’s Rift, only with a few added features. To start, Jhin replaces the traditional announcer, giving his own quotes whenever someone is killed, a turret is destroyed, etc. This gives the game a sense of performance as he commentates on the actions of each player and the major events that transpire within the game. The second, and arguably most major, change is the “Showstopper” mechanic. Every 3-5 minutes, Jhin will announce that he’s become bored with the current performances of the players and announces he’s in need of a “Showstopper Moment”. This instantly grants all players true vision of all other players, as well as greatly increased movement speed, cooldown reduction, and unlimited mana. Essentially, the game will turn into URF for a brief 30-60 second moment of complete chaos as each team scrambles to make clutch plays they otherwise couldn’t achieve during these moments. The third major change is the addition of a “Spotlight”. Essentially, this boils down to Jihn placing a spotlight on a random player, grating him or her greatly increased movement speed and cooldown reduction for a brief period but also increasing the damage dealt to him or her and granting all players true vision of the spotted player. This adds a layer of fun random gameplay in which players either desperately avoid getting murdered by the enemy or attempt to use the benefits of the “Spotlight” and getting rewarded with extra gold for killing enemies during this duration. Keep in mind that whenever you kill an enemy in the “Spotlight”, it will then move to you, so don’t get overzealous in your pursuits. The final addition is simply adding a variety of extra gold rewards for doing various exciting and risky plays, which are listed below. All in all, it’s a fun mode that capitalizes on taking risks and embracing the performances Jhin so clearly desires.

Extra Gold Given When • Killing an Enemy in the “Spotlight” • Killing an Enemy while having the “Spotlight” on you • Killing an Enemy during a “Showstopper” Moment • Killing an Enemy with an Ult • Killing an Enemy while having less than 5% or less Health • Using an Ult an on Ally with 10% or less Health • Killing an Enemy from over 1000 Units Away • Taking a Dragon or Baron with at least 3 Enemy Champions involved in the kill

TL;DR: Jhin's release, in my opinion, was kind of lackluster, especially with the huge potential of a supervillian-like character with tons of interactions between other champions. In order to help him seem more signifigant, I tried to design two additional champions whose stories were interconnected with Jhin's current life, as well as a new game mode to highlight the "performance" aspect of clutch plays in your average League game. All in all, I just wanted to see Riot capitalize on Jhin and his huge potential, which I think they could have done a little better, which is the inspiration behind all this in the first place.

Anyways, this is my first post so I hope people enjoyed reading my ideas, or at the very least they helped spark some ideas of your own.

This is fucking awesome. Very well thought out and I hope riot seriously considers this. The New Champs have amazing new mechanics to add to the game, the game mode sounds like probably the most fun game mode ever, and seriously, those new champs. I want them. So much. And I completely agree that jhin's release lacked the theatrics due him. Seriously this whole post needs to be a thing.

I'm not sure why this was downvoted, because this gamemode is actually a pretty awesome idea. I like it. :>

Now this is an idea I can get behind

I like the ideas, but for the same reasons kench can troll, I really don't think he should be able to move his allies, you could change the grapple to just bring him to his allies, not his allies to him. Otherwise I love the lore you wrote, good job :P
