The Boy and the Flower

Some want peace, war, wealth, happiness. No. I want none of that. I wan't closure. I want them to pay for what I'd become, for what I am. I never wanted this, I just wanted to see him one last time.

But not all can be so easily forgiven...

The sun shines in from the window, illuminating the room. The young boy yawns and stretches, arising from his bed. As he rises, he glances at a picture of his Father, placed on a table at the end of his bed. "I told you, you'd be the first thing I see when I get up." He says as he grins. He walks out of his room, looking at the cracks around his doorway and along the walls. "This place keeps getting less and less and comfy." He peeks into his Mother's room. "Aw, must be nice sleeping in. Let me know how it feels." He chuckles as he walks outside, looking around. The Slums. The place where those who have no means of making a living go, to rot and wither away. All around are other people, dressed in ragged clothing, tending to their duties. A little girl runs up to the boy, jumping and chanting. "Jair! Jair! Did you see it!?" she yells, hopping up and down. "See what? Was it the sun? Maybe your pretty dress?" He smiles as he looks down at the girl, wearing a ripped and tattered dress. "No, no! Another riot!" she exclaims, tugging at his sleeve. "You have to go this time, remember? You said you wanted to meet him again!" The boy looks away, sighing. "I don't know, a knife isn't much to bring, and looks at me. Would you want me on an expedition?" He gestures to his clothes and scars. "Of course Jair! You're the best at exploring!" The girl smiles, running around the boy. "Alright alright, calm down, I'll go." He says, walking back inside. The boy grabs a sac, a small pocket knife, and a ring. Before heading back outside, the boys looks at the ring, peering deep into it's cracked gemstone. "I know you're not gone, you can't be. I'll find you." He whispers, walking back out to meet the girl. "All set, Princess Alina?" The girl laughs. "I told you Jair, I'm not a princess!" The boy laughs along with her. "You could have fooled me."

Together, they walked to the barrier dividing the slums and the capitol of Demacia, where almost all of the slums had gathered, yelling and chanting. In front of the crowd stood three guards, each holding spears. As the boy and girl broke through the crowd, a guards voice broke through the yelling and stammering of the slums. "Yet another expedition has been started, and the capitol is looking to recruit anyone available to join! Once the expedition is finished, everyone who had volunteered to join us in our search will be rewarded with not only a share of the treasure from the expedition, but a base reward of five hundred gold pieces. The boy smirks, approaching the guards. "When did the capitol start going cheap on their bounties?" The guards glances at the boy. "Look who it is, the runt from last time. Beat it kid, We only take real men, and from what i'm seeing-" he examines the boy. "-that's not you." The boy looks up at the guard, getting closer. "I thought you were accepting anyone? The capitol IS getting quite desperate to find that ring, huh?" The guard clenches his teeth. "Keep talking and this whole slum will be exterminated." The boy puts his hands behind his head. "Alright tough guy I get it, where are we headed?" the guard smirks. "The Shadow Isles, and you're not invited." he says as he pushes the boy back into the crowd. The boy hits the ground, looking up at the guard. "The....Isles..?" His eyes widen. "That's right. You remember what happened there, don't you?" The guard says with a smirk, staring down at the boy. "You made him go..you're the reason he's dead.." The boy whispers, standing to his feet and slowly walking towards the guard. "Ah, excuses, excuses." The guard says, peering at the crowd. "If no one is going to come, you all will! You've got a minute to volunteer before the whole slum is recruited!" The guard yells. Moments later, several men approach the guard and asked to be recruited, some fathers, husbands, elders. The guard grins. "That's more like it. I counted 22, that's quite enough. Lets head back." The guard turns towards a gate in the barrier. "Everyone who has been recruited, follow me, we cast off immediately." And with that, the guards and other men head towards the gate. Cries of sadness and regret can be heard from the crowd, from children and women. Alina approaches the boy, holding his hand. "Sorry Jair, you'll get to go next time, I promise.." she says with a frown. "No." He tugs his hand away from the girl. "I'm going." He says, as he walks away from the crowd, heading towards the edge of the barrier. "Wait! Jair! You can't!" The girl yells. The boy stops, turn around, and looks at the girl, anger in his eyes. He tightens his fist. "Yes, I can!" he yells back. Alina frowns. The boys turns back around and continues walking. By the time the boy makes it to the barrier of the Capitol, the guards and men had already left and the gate had been closed.

The boy walks along the edge of the barrier, until the barrier is cut off by a large body of water. From the edge of the barrier, the boy spots a small wooden boat, docked at the shore. "Right where I thought they would leave it. Now all I have to do is wait." Roughly an hour later, multiple guards and a few men approach the boat. "That's not all the men they took, where are the rest?" is the thought that crosses, but quickly fades when he sees the men and guards get into the board and begin to sail off. The boy quickly jumps into the water, submerging himself and swimming towards the boat. As he approaches, he surfaces, eyeing a rope hanging off of the boat. "Heh, they always manage to slip up." The quietly swims towards the rope, grabbing hold. "Talk about transport in style." He says, looking back at the shores of the Slums. "Now just need to ride this to the isles, and then...." He stops and sighs. "Then we'll meet again."

an hour later, the boat arrives at the shores of the Shadow Isles. As the guards and men get out of the boat, the boy hears a guard whisper. "Stay quiet and be on guard. We're looking for a ring with a red gemstone, encased in a gold plated guard." As the men and guards traverse deeper into the dense forests of the Isles, the boy swims over to the shore, shivering. "A-a-a-any longer and I w-would have screamed." He whispers, rubbing his hands together. Once the boy can feel his hands and feet, he pulls out his pocket knife and beings to enter the forest. As he walks through the forest, he spots many scraps of armor, swords, leather, and other typical knight wear. "Doesn't look like his, thank the gods." He continues to walk along, before approaching a steep and jagged mountain. The boy looks up at the mountain, smirking. "Bet he'd be smart enough to set up camp there." He says as he begins to climb the mountain. As the boys climbs higher and higher, he begins to hear roars and grumbling from below him. The boys stops and looks down, not being able to see anything below him through the thick fog that had surrounded the mountain. "Sounds like the guards got what was coming to them, but I hope the men got out alright." He says as he turns back around to face the mountain and reach for another piece of stone jutting out from the mountain. As the boy approaches the top of the mountain, the roars and groans begin to get louder, and shake his body. The boy ignores the noises, determined to get to the top. Once he reaches the top, he finds a cave that spirals down into the mountain. In a rush of adrenaline, the boy sprints in, descending down deeper into the cave. When he reaches the bottom of the cavern, he spots a dim light at the end of a long corridor. "Light, that must mean fire!" He thinks to himself. "Dad!" he shouts, running down the corridor. Once he arrives at the end of the almost endless hall, he stop and drops to his knees. A flower. A single flower. It sits at the end of the corridor, glowing slightly. A Viola. Tears form in the boys eyes. "This is it..? A stupid flower!?" He pounds his fist on the ground. "I thought it was him! How could I be so stupid!" He cries, looking down at the ground. From the end of the corridor a rugged roar rumbles the mountain, shaking the boy. "w...what?" He looks back, only to hear large and loud footsteps approach. His eyes widen and he quickly gets up and backs up to the end wall of the corridor, beside the Viola. The Viola just barely lights up the corridor, providing enough light to make the mysterious figure visible, a creature inhabiting the Shadow Isles. It slowly steps towards the boy, shaking the ground with each step. The creature is large is size, horn protruding from it's head, and large spiny scales covering it's body. The monster stops when it gets sight of the boy. "Where is it.." The creature grumbles, looking towards the boy. He's speechless. The boy clasps his chest and backs into the corner of the hallway. "I said, WHERE IS IT!" the monster yells, slamming his fist in the wall, stones falling from the ceiling of the cave. "W-where's what!? I don't know what you're talking about!" The boy shouts, covering his head. "Your father knew, so you must know too! THE RING, WHERE IS THE RING?" The monster bellowed, moving towards the boy. "The ring?" He says, glancing down at the ring on his finger. The beast looks down to the boys hands. "That's it! The ring! Give it to me, boy!" The boy looks back up at the monster. "N-no way! This was the only thing that my family got when we were told of my fathers death! It's his last and only belonging.." The monster smirks.

"Ah, your father you say? He was a good meal, best I'd ever had." The monster says, looking down at the boy with a heinous smirk. The boys eyes narrow and his breath sharpens. "W..What did you just say..?" He gets up from the corner he backed himself into. "You heard me, little one. I killed your father, and he tasted oh so delicious." The creature takes another step a towards the boy. The boy looks at the monster, walking towards it. "So I came all this way, only to find that scum like you killed him? Highly unlikely." The monster kneels down to the boys level. "Look who's finally standing! So you aren't as weak as your father!" The monster chuckles. The boys continues taking steps towards the beast, his legs starting to shake and his hands going numb. His breathing become weak and silent. Fear strikes the boy as he looks up at the monster's grin. "Scared, are we? Please, there's nothing to be afraid of, take your best shot." The monster whispers. "Brat." The boy stops. He gains feeling in his hands and his legs stop shaking. His breathing returns to normal. "I think I'll kill you just for lying." He says confidently, all previous fear cast aside, and instead replaced with a look of rage and determination sprawled across the boys face. "Hah! you? Lets see what you can actually do." The monster says as the scale on it's body stand on their ends. The boy runs towards the monster, clenching his fist, ready to punch the creature. "A punch? You think that will kill me? Heh, sadly mistaken, bo-" the monster falls silent. A slow and quiet drip echoes from throughout the corridor. The monster peers down, only to find himself bleeding, and a large, almost transparent blade forced into his abdomen. The boy stands with his palm facing towards the beast, as he looks down. The blade shatters, pushing the monster back just outside the area that the Viola manages to illuminate with it's dim light. The boy nervously looks up, expecting to be smashed, eaten, or tortured. From his hand, a thin thread of spectral energy connects the Viola and his ring. Once the boy notices, the string of energy snaps into the ring, causing it to glow a dim teal. The boy quickly takes it off and examines it. "What?" he whispers to himself. The once broken Gemstone in his ring had been mended, and changed color, from a dark crimson to a light blue. The boys eyes narrow, staring into the gemstone. He quickly pulls his vision away from the stone, and towards the monster. He looks where the monster once stood, finding little shards of transparent steel. The material quickly fizzles and disperses.

Confused, the boy falls back, landing on his rear. "What...did I just do?" He says, looking down at his hands. He notices teal colored energy surrounds the ring on his fingers, and floating off to form a Human-like figure. "Uh, well...I-I did it." A voice says, resonating through the boys head. The boys looks from his hands to in front of him, seeing a figure of a little boy in tattered cloth, sitting down in front of him. The boy crawls backwards, keeping his eyes locked on the mysterious boy. "W-what are you?" "Hard to explain." the mysterious boy says, looking away. "My name is Vir, what about you?" The boy struggles to speak. "Jair." Vir smiles. "I like your name." Jair manages to form a small smile, "T-Thanks." he replies. "So, Jair, we have much to talk about." Jair looks confused. "You mean?" Vir moves closed to Jair. "Well, what I am, what you were, and what you have become."

"What I have..become?"

Jair wakes up, the sun shining through his window. He arises, stretches, and look at the picture of his father at the end of his bed. "Well, Vir, Dad, Today's the day." Jair gets out of bed, picking up his ring that he had placed beside his Father's picture. "Today's the day we shatter the walls of the capitol, and etch our name into the throne."

"Jair and Vir, the forgotten, the outcasts, and the mistreated. "

Abilities

-Spectral Adaptation (Passive) Every time Jair switches Spectral Weapons, he gains that weapons traits and Bonuses for 15 seconds. Sword; Increased AD and Attack speed, but short auto attacks. Bow and Arrows; Increased Movement Speed and Attacks speed, as well as granting Jair ranged auto attacks. Lance; Increases Jair's Armor and Magic Resist, while also granting him longer ranged auto attacks. All bonuses and passives scale off level

-Ethereal Blade (Q) Cooldown: 15/12/9 Damage: 90/120/150 + 65% AD Mana Cost: 85/65/45 After a short delay, Jair materializes a large blade in front of him, Damages enemies hit by it (deals more damage if hit by the tip) Before using Ethereal Blade, Jair must charge it by walking around and auto attacking. Jair may use Ethereal Blade when it is at 50% charge, but it will do less damage. Once Jair puts 1 skill point into his Q, he gains a buff called "Ethereal Resonance" which manages his charge. After using Ethereal Blade, Jair uses a spectral scimitar to attack. This effect persists for 15 seconds before Jair reverts to his neutral state.

-Devastating Focus (W) Cooldown: 15/12/9 Damage: Per shot 50/75/100 + 25/35/50 per Bonus Damage damage auto (+70% enhanced reverse scaling) Mana Cost: 50/65/80 Jair materializes a spectral bow that allows him to used ranged auto attacks, as well as allowing him to roll on activation. After rolling, Jair gains movement speed which persists until he reverts to his neutral state. After Jair uses Devastating Focus, he gains three enhanced auto attacks, dealing damage based on a % of his bonus AD. This effect last 5 seconds.

-Sweeping Silence (E) Cooldown: 15/12/9 Damage: 70/90/120 Mana Cost: 90/75/60 Jair materializes a spectral lance, while also sweeping an area around him, knocking up all enemies in the area. Once Jair has materialized his lance, he gains longer ranged auto attacks (compared to his sword). If Jair uses Sweeping Silence directly after activating Devastating Focus, but not spending the three enhanced auto attacks, Sweeping Silence will cast faster.

-**Spectral Defiance (R) ** Cooldown: 100/85/65 Duration: 10/13/17 Mana Cost: 100/100/100 Through Vir's spectral power, Jair let's him take over his body, enhancing all of his skills. Jair is able to manually revert to his neutral form at any time during this skill. Cooldown will be refunded depending on how long the ult was in use.

  • Ethereal Blade charges faster, loses it's bonus damage when hit by the tip, and instead send a blade flying up from the ground in a targeted area. This ability has relatively low damage compared to it's normal version, but also has shorter cooldown compared to it's normal counterpart.

  • Devastating Focus allows Jair to sweep across the ground twice. After each sweep, Jair is pinned in place for 1 second, as he aims a shot at an enemy. The shot damage is based on how far the enemy is from Jair. This skill is a skillshot and reverse scales when multiple enemies are hit from far away (Will pierce) (("Reverse scales" meaning that it does less damage the closer enemies are to Jair, and scales the farther enemies are from him.)) Jair will lose movement speed after sweeping twice, but if he only sweeps once, he will not suffer the movement speed deduction.

  • Sweeping Silence is enhanced to become an aoe knockback around Jair. The closer enemies are to Jair, the farther they are knocked back. While Jair preforms the enhanced version of Sweeping Silence, he is Grounded. (Prevents Jair from knocking enemies back then immediately rolling/sweeping)

Name: Jair Slyveir Age: 14 Birthplace Demacia Height, Body Type, and Weight: 5'4", 125, Slender Position: Mid/Top Role: Fighter/Tank

Notes

Yo, this is my first champion ever designed and posted onto the boards. I felt that my and my friend's idea at 3am in the morning was a good idea, so we whipped up some lore and abilites and slapped em together. I decided not to include (barely) any scalings or damage, because something might be broken/unbalanced. Apologies if I got any lol lore wrong, I tried to read about the Shadow Isles and Demacia, But I was too lazy to read the whole lore QQ sorry

The inspiration behind Jair was the midlane meta, how champs are usually trapped to doing one thing, even if there might be different ways to use their abilities. For example Taliyah, she has many different ways to use her slows, knock ups and backs, and others, but there is only one real viable combo, put down rocks, throw them into it, the throw pebbles at them.

Anyways Summoners, thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed, and im open to changes and criticism, go ahead and comment your thoughts!

Have fun on the rift boys :^)

Changelog -13/06/2016

  • Prettied up the concept page a bit (tried not to overuse the borders)
  • Added mana costs and balanced cooldowns.
  • Added weight and height, as well as body type!
  • Stats and growth soon to come!

(Special Thanks to Hellion Azazel for giving his W the name "Devastating Focus"!) [slayer-jinx-catface]

This seems like a very similar idea to my dragon rider idea a few threads ago, also seems really similar to Jinx but with melee.

Pretty cool concept, although the wall of text was a bit painful on the eyes.
