shifting and defining Karma's role

I just recently returned to League of Legends, and I was playing Karma in PvE Intermediate. I was playing top w/ Annie, and I was noticing that Karma doesn't have a very defined role. It says she's supposed to be "Mage/Support", but I feel like there's no theme, no flow to her moveset/ toolkit. So then I thought up some ideas on how to give her more of role and make her feel more fun to play.

I think Karma should be more support-oriented with her abilities, then turn into damage-dealing with her ultimate. To do this, I just want to tweak her Q, and ulti-Q. I want her Q to completely ignore minions, and detonate on enemy champions. This way, she becomes a more poke focused support, and she can more reliably damage enemy champions. This also takes away her "wave-clear" ability, shifting her role more into a support class. However, I want her ulti-Q to be modified. I want her ulti to alter her Q so that it still detonates on enemy champions, but it also deals damage to all minions it passed through. This makes it so Karma without her ulti is support-focused, but then Karma with her ulti activated is mage-focused. This then gives her a theme of yin and yang with her ulti, something I think the developers wanted to capture with Karma. Hopefully then, more players will notice her unique theme and start to play her more.

I really like Karma's theme and character, but I think her playstyle doesn't quite represent it. I hope to see some changes, but at the very least, I wanted to voice my thoughts about her.

No,

Karma is a Mage first Support second and always has been.

Karma's "theme" IS that she can solo lane and also support if you want to play a support mage we have Sona Soraka Zilean Bard Lulu Janna Nami that already step on each others toes kit wise and only the ones Riot decides can be good are played. Her old theme was Duality and Riot didn't care to save that aspect in her rework and it didn't work cause her kit was terrible. Cone Q that did nothing but damage until ulted. A Tether that just didn't work with the idiots back then and didn't do damage to the enemy you used it on and the empowered version didn't look any different from the base so you wouldn't know if you had a 20% or 40% speedbuff,(people still don't know how to use ally abilities)and a Shield that was nothing but a shield until ulted,,oh and 425 auto attack range cause fuck Karma. Her Passive was good but didn't make up for the intended uselessness of her kit when she wasn't ulting,on top of being a measly slow-to no cc at all shortish ranged Support that didn't have gold income items back then she had retarded mana costs of 95 for her cone 115 for her tether and 120 for her shield

If you just recently returned, you probably didn't see my post either. I hate to do self-promotion, but I strive to give people an idea as to what Karma was, what she is and could be, while highlighting flaws and potentials in her kit. Maybe stop by one of my posts. Or maybe just the most popular one:

Karma's basic abilities are already quite supportive, and her Mantra did in fact make her abilities more mage like by adding damage to them (before 5.10). Anyway, the changes you suggested aren't good for a few reasons:

  1. Q/RQ passing through minions removes the last skill check in Karma's kit. Riot has stripped Karma of everything that made her special already, and has continued to dumb her down. This would be the icing on the cake.

  2. This would destroy solo lane Karma, Karma was designed with solo laning in mind. Also, as a Karma mid main, this would make me uninstall permanently. Any changes done to Karma shouldn't pigeon hole her into any lane, although it could be argued that being a better mage would make her a better support.

  3. These changes would take her further away from what she was, basically spitting in the face of old Karma mains... again. Karma's current state is already disrespectful to old Karma mains, let's not make it worse.

  4. With these changes she'd just be more obnoxious to deal with. For Karma to be a better support she needs unique utility, not a poke pattern with reduced counterplay.

If any changes are to happen to Karma, Riot would need to find a way to bring together new and old Karma mains.

I read the extensive post on Karma, and I must say, I am very impressed. I really like the idea of twin dragons as her weapon. It's not so much that I want to restrict Karma to a lane or a role, more that I want to see her have a clearer role. I'm excited about the idea to make her more unique, instead of a jack-of-all-trades. I think decision-making is a great skill to have, so putting it in her abilities makes her fun to play, and more interactive. I think what Karma is now falls short of what I think she could be. Really, I like her, but I want her to be more fun and interesting, and a character more people will appreciate.
