We Need An Autistic Champion

Autism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Magic The Gathering has recently confirmed their newest Plainswalker, Narset as being on the autistic spectrum. In response to this I feel that the League, should also have a champion that autistic individuals, like my self, can identify with.

Champions such as, , , , , , , , and come close to properly representing our autistic brothers and sisters, but don't quite fit the cigar.

I was thinking that this autistic champion should be a top laner, that way he or she would not have to deal with a stressful social environment, until team fights start. or he or she could be like , or that way he or she would not have to deal with the stressful social environments at all!

I was hoping that we could have an open discussion about a new autistic champion!

As an Autistic person, I say no. Pop culture makes enough mockery of us already. Also, your examples of champions who "come close," come close to an insult.

there shouldn't be a autistic champ in LOL since the champion in LOL are to be considered the strongest most heroic (or evil) fighters/mages from there regions on runeterra the chances of a autistic person being able to be the best a region of the planet has to offer is slim to none that would be like putting a autistic person on a NFL team and exspecting them to do well......are there even any Professional lvl sports players that are autistic? would u put a autistic person in the regular Olympics or the special Olympics? all tho i do feel u have a credible argument for having one the rational and logical side of ur argument is missing a bit of a valid point and this is my opinion since i speak only for my self not to mention that a single game of LOL for autistic champion would be to much for them to handle since if it was real it would be a stressful social environment which is where autistic ppl tend to do very poorly and regress to a state that would make them nearly useless

I would like to point out that Rek'Sai had no real way of communicating that she wanted to be in the League in the first place, her only noises being roars/screeches, so every time she's in a game it's really just her randomly finding a fight and deciding she wants to join in, which is also her basic playstile - jumping into whatever fight she feels like (as a jungler, typically neutral monsters, further supporting the idea that she just happened to be in the area at the time that the fight started) and chasing down anyone who tries to get away. Not all champions necessarily had to ENTER the League of Legends to begin with, so it's possible that one day an autistic champion just entered the fight because he felt like it and wouldn't listen to anyone who told him no. He didn't have to be the strongest that his region had to offer, he just had to decide that he was gonna go in and fight.

either way if they where autistic there passive would have to be something like this "Autism-- refuses to follow commands 70% of the time and returns to base every 5m regardless of summoner commands"

im downvoting because there is no reason to quote a insanely long response in the first place just to type out another insanely long response all he did was make it take that much longer for anyone to scroll thru all this text is pointless instead he easily could have just hit reply and written out the same thing we was gonna say there no reason to use the quote button on the forum ever anymore since the replies are automatically attached to the proper comment now a days its not like it was back in s1 when everything just got posted in chronological order

side note lets add a epileptic champ everytime a skill goes off near them they seize out for 5s gaining 900 to armor and mr while reducing there hp by 50 as a passive

two main problems with your statement, first of all you most certainly have not done any research on any of your statements, because while not confirmed there are many people who are famous who likely fit within the autism spectrum, secondly there are no "special olympics" you might be referring to paralympics though the fact is that the paralympics are for people who have physical problems with the exception of summer paralympics which have certain events, so autism wouldnt fit even if it was a mental problem, which it is not.
Here are some famous people http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_with_autism_spectrum_disorders Also, if you actually read the article the main "issue is communication" and even that is not too big of a problem with some therapists, I have high functioning autism, aka aspergers syndrome but able to appear at least somewhat normal to society easily. Yet, you most likely couldnt tell from my conversation, autism is nowhere near as apparent as you might think and stress for some is completly fine, in fact I almost only work under stress because I find most things boring.

I appreciate your sentiment but please, let this thread die. It went four days without any comments and now it's on the front page again. No need to feed the trolls.

There are autistic people in the regular olympics. I can bet you 100% on that. There are probably autistic people in the NBA, NFL, etc too. And remember, a lot of the top chess players are probably autistic too. Einstein and Bill Gates might be autistic. There are many different kinds of autism and I think you sound ignorant in this post

sadly the current classification puts Asperger's syndrome within the autism spectrum, mostly because signs are similar, just that generally speaking Aspergers means that you can at least communicate and usually includes an intelligence in a particular subject. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome

And here, ladies and gentleman, we have what we like to call an assbag who likes to passively assault a large group of people. They are very common in League of Legends, and they may insult anyone from people with disabilities to homosexuals and transgender people. They enjoy putting others down and hounding a group of people because they are different, when really they are just trying to keep their own self-esteem up. Some of them may even consider themselves funny, or they may think they are good jokers. Do not make these kinds of people happy, as they serve no purpose to our community and if they were Velkoz deleted, no one would miss them because they are complete and utter assholes.

I dont really see the point of making a champion autistic. It could easily generate a million other problems. What happens if the champ isnt viable and they have all that nonsense to deal with from would be rages accusing them of purposely making the autistic champ inferior. Or the million other possible illness and disabilities out there seeking representation.

Instead why not make awareness skins based of different illness and disabilities out there and riot can donate the proceeds to the respective charity. Maybe like 4 champs get breast cancer awareness skins. Another 4 get something for autism. etc
