Attacking duplicates grants Onyx a brief burst of attack speed and movement speed per hit.
The more duplicates alive in the sector, the longer the duration/spread of Nevermore.
Cooldown - 150/120/90 seconds Mana Cost - 100 mana MS Growth - 5/7.5/10% per hit AS Growth- 3.1/4.6/7% per hit Duration - 5/6/7 seconds (+0.8 per duplicate) Duplicate Spawn Rate - Every 2/1.8/1.5 seconds Range - 1800 units
OVERALL - Capable of two very different but similar roles. A tank whose sole purpose is to absorb damage and disrupt enemies, at the cost of any substantial damage. Or a decent mage, being very good at extended duels but lacking much health or burst to make an impact in short fights.
MID LANE - Onyx’s kit lacks much burst damage, excelling mostly in prolonged fights or skirmishes. During the laning phase, Onyx will however be very efficient at setting up ganks/ganking. In mid to late game team fights, Onyx’s main purpose will be a disruptor and DOT dealer.
TOP LANE - Onyx will become very hard to kill when building tank, leading to a farm heavy laning phase. In mid to late game team fights, Onyx will be a strong disruptor, being hard to avoid.
LORE - SIMPLIFIED
Once a gothic poet and bird admirer, Onyx now serves his client, know as “The Arbiter”, to exact revenge upon their enemies. Using the creatures he loves and poetry he devoted his life to, he now stalks the night and fills his target’s - or more appropriately, victim’s - hearts with dread.
LORE - EXTENDED
Jakob Venmar was a very odd child. Birds, such as the raven, had been his driving factor in life since he was born. However, his parent’s belief that his obsession with these bad omens was a sign that he was a demonic child caused them to abandon him at a very young age. He was later found, cold and nearly dead, by an old man who wrote plays and poetry in town. The man raised him, teaching him about his poetic style and allowing the boy to play with the birds he kept as pets.
When out late returning from an event, the old man was savagely beaten and killed, throat slit and body left on the steps to his home. Jakob woke the next morning - finding the only one he truly considered family dead at his feet - and mourned. At the funeral, Jakob being the only attendant, he was informed that he had inherited the man’s home and little wealth he had left. Now a young man, he decided to pursue his new passion - becoming a poet - in honor of the man.
With a change in people’s interest, Jakob’s poetry - revolving exclusively around birds and death - had fallen out of favor. Known for his dark and unsettling demeanor, many of his neighbors tried to stay as far away from him as possible. This all contributed to his poetic work lacking recognition and as a result, forced him pursue another line of work. Finding it hard to seek a client, Jakob began to lose hope. However, he received a job offer, a private courier for an individual who regarded themself as “The Arbiter”. Attached to the letter was a map, a dark X marking a location near the outskirts of the city.
As Jakob neared his destination, he noticed a menacing Citadel, shrouded in darkness and surrounded by jagged rocks. Approaching the door, he stopped as the door opened itself, a single voice - neither male or female alone - calling for him to come forward. As he stepped through into a large room with a single throne, there stood the figure.
A rather tall person, they were clad in a dark cloak, the front revealing perfectly black armor. They retracted their hood, revealing a woman’s face, both rich and decayed at the same time. Their eyes were crimson red, both alluring and dreadful. Jakob did not know how to react when the person spoke.
“Are you willing to sacrifice something in order for your desires to be met” they spoke in the ominous voice.
Jakob hesitated but eventually agreed.
“Very well” they replied. “You shall become by messenger, delivering death to those I wish to dispose of. You will lose all memories of your past, excluding your admiration of the creatures you observe and poetry you so care for. The manner in which you conduct the tasks I ask of you is entirely up to you, but do know that failure means death. Do you still agree to these terms, mortal?”
Jakob replied, this time with no hesitation and with a much more sinister tone.
“Yes. Humans can show nothing but hate to one another and they must be punished.”
“Excellent.” the figure said with a grin “From this point forward, you shall gain a portion of my power and go by the name Onyx.”
