Mastery Ideas for the next Patch

State of the Season: Preseason Progress

Hello dear LoL-Comunity,

I had an idea while reading through Riot's "State of the Season: Preseason Progress" (linked above). Wouldn't it be even more satisfying if you could chose every mastery you like without being bound to the mastery trees?

I thought about this for a long time and right now seems to be a good time to throw it in. The mastery trees are very old and seem to be kinda molten to the game. But I think these trees do not match the competitive level this game has conquered. I think annother system with free choseable masteries would enable even more different playstyles for every champion. Sure there are some rules, like only one Keystone Mastery each mastery page. I think it would increase the variety of different builds and makes the masteries even more specific for each champion.

If you would like to see this coming to League of Legends, please feel free to link this threat to your friends and please leave a vote to the pool. Also, if you do think this threat needs some more detail, feel free to re-post an even more detailed threat by yourself or even comment some ideas.

So, I hope you got an idea of what I mean and I wish you all a happy new year afterwards.

Best wishes,

ZeroX Noxus

(PS.: Don't forget to vote, comment and maybe link this to your friends! :D)

Everyone would choose the few good masteries there are and everyone would essentially have the same ones, i.e. the Thunderlord's Decree spam we see so much these days.

Well, you might be true on that, but I guess the people would start using some other masteries aswell. The point is if you are e.g. Soraka you can't get all the masteries you want. At the moment you need to spend 17 points in masteries to get the one keystone mastery you need. On Soraka, you go for "Windspeaker's Blessing" meaning you have to go 0/18/0. Now you have to decide wheater you go for "Ferocity" or "Resolve". Now, the thing I want to change with this is that you do not HAVE to go for either "Double Edged Sword" or "Feast" to get "Natural Talent" going. Soraka does not need either of these two, but still does need "Natural Talent". I hope you can make sense out of this (I'm german by the way) and might reconcider your thoughts on that.
