I really enjoy quests such as Khazix vs Rengar in-game. I would like to see more if possible? after reading pyke bio; I don't know why but many of us expected a quest between Gangplank and Pyke.
It doesn't have to have a huge impact on the game just a buff of some sort

garen and kat have this rivalry/romance going on, yes.
i think making darius garens rival is too much on the nose and less interesting, just because they fill similar roles in their nations.

Veteran players may see it that way. But "holidays are for the the kids" and these events exist largely for newer players who can still use the extra loot earned, and who may still be largely unaware of lore details and nuances. (There is even a recruitment mission sub-set associated with the current event/RGM.) New players often think that Garen and Darius are brothers.

i dont even understand why darius was chosen for the event. especially considering that just like garen, katarina doesnt have a legendary yet as a season 1 champion, and darius already had one (and a gemstone skin).

I'll tell you why. Because the garen/Katarina was a lore decision lo ago, but Darius is a much more thematically appropriate rival in concept and fight style. Katarina as a rival is essentially some edgy rivalry and it makes little sense from a quality strong line point of view. Garen and Darius are both big in-your-face brawling juggernauts and physically lead their respective and opposed armies. They both embody the truly manly warrior concept and make for an epic showdown of unflinching commander warriors. Katarina is a chick and an assassin, and realistically is so far from being a similar fight style to garen that she simply cannot be his rival. Either she assassinates him in bed or he savages her on the battlefield because she wouldn't last two seconds in an open fight against him. On the other hand, Darius and Garen could clash many times, or at least have an epic beatdown against each other.
