Champion Nationality IRL
Can someone help me to state all LoL champion nationality irl (based on your opinions)
Here is mine (I'll keep updating more, currently finished from A-G, +Lux & Katarina):
Caution: Some data can't be found due to the fact that some champion may come from the Void or Bandle City, which is above our understanding
: He is a darkin so it is really hard to find... So, Aatrox’s name when translated to Latin is fierce, from the word “Atrox” (I will link the name origin of all champ bellow, thanks to Reddit). Also, his voiceover is super Russian, and Latin have some “noticeable similarities”, so I’ll just say he is Russian.
: Korean. Nothing to say much here. Ahri’s concept is from gumiho, a Korean mythology about a nine tailed fox that live for thousands of years. The name Ahri also mean graceful in Korean (Ari).
: I personally think Akali is Japanese, for a really simple reason, she is in Kinkou order (well... used to be until that god damn rework make her so imbalance fk riot). Kinkou Order is in Ionia (which is the most Asian place u’ll ever see in Runeterra), and Kinko in japanese literally mean balance. Also, kama and suriken is a Japanese tool, therefore make her even more Japanese-like. In the K/DA profile page, it said that she can speak Japanese (along with English and Korean) too.
: Can we just skip animals... Well I just don’t know what to say...All I know is in old English this name mean “Sentinel”, also in Greek and Scottish this mean defender of man. This is kinda accurate because Alistar is the “heroes” of his, uhm.., race. Coincidentally, Scotland and England is right next to each other! So I’ll say he is once of those two :)
: No...just no. I don’t know where he come from. So let’s do this in a simple way: What is Amumu? A mummy? Where do mummies come from? Egypt! So Amumu is Egyptian!
: We just finished a cow? Now a bird? Jesus! Anivia...well there is nothing to found about this Ice bird lady either. I really want to place her in Antarctica but it is a continent, not a country. By that, the only clue left is her name meaning, which is Snow White in Latin. All I can do is look up for Snow White story origin, and it is in Germany. I also found out that German is highly-influenced by Latin, so in my opinion, Froggen.. I mean Anivia is German
: Also doesn’t mentioned by Reddit, but I do found Annie is an English name so she is British. Well in the Annie: Origin short film, her clothes do look like European, especially Old British. About the name, it mean “graceful” butttt in some others languages, this can also mean “anger” too (Riot do put there time on naming a champion huh?, I wish they do spend time balancing champ too). Also since the champ's name is inspired by a Riot's employee's girlfriend, So there is a chance that Annie is american too.
: Ashe is really easy for me. Basically Ashe is name after “Ashley Merill”, which is apparently Marc “Tryndamere” Merrill’s wife. Marc is Riot Game CEO btw. And they’re both Americans!
: His Nationality is Milky Wayian (the galaxy that were living in)
: Based on the Reddit Page. The word Azir mean “strength” in Ancient Arabic. Also, in Azir cinematic, we can see Sivir and Cassiopeia (in human form) go to the sun disc in order to find his tomb. If we imagine the Sun Disc is a Pyramid (the concept is quite the same), we can conclude that Azir is an Egyptian
: Same with A-sol, he is Milky Wayian, despite his name have meaning in English (I mean his Intro in the Universe page said that [A traveller from beyond the stars])
: A robot doesn’t supposed to have nationality, but whatever. In the Reddit page, Blitz mean lightning in German, so he is German.
: Brand mean “Fire” in Dutch or “Wildfire” in German, so one of those two (for me I preferred Dutch because there’s too many German lol). The funny thing here is if he is German, than Freljord became really German-based. Because despite the fact that he’s a firey boi, Brand use to be a tribesman in Freljord. Quite interesting...
: Holy f**k why there is so MANY GERMAN!!!. . . Braum is an americanization of the very common German surname "Brahm”. Ingame, you can also heard his German accent too. This furthermore confirmed my theory about Freljord’s German based.
: Next in our list is Caitlyn, the lady that can oneshot you in late game if you dare to touch her trap. Caitlyn’s name is inspired by a person name “Catherine”, which is one of the first Female Saints at Riots, this explain why she is Piltover's First Female Sheriff. Anyway, both of this name is British, plus we can also hear her heavy British accent in game too. By that reason, Caitlyn is British.
: Same with Caitlyn, this blade lady have one of the heaviest British accent in league. Some people also came up with a theory that Caitlyn is Camille’s grandniece (this has never been confirmed). So yea, Camille is also British. I guess Piltover is pretty British based huh?
and
: This one is quite difficult, if you didn’t know yet, Katarina and Cassiopeia are sibling (like Lux and Garen), so I need to look into both of them. After some “researching”, I have two different answer. If just based on their first name, then Cass and Kata will be Greek, because both of their name related to Greek Mythology (Kata is Hecate, and Cassiopeia is...Cassiopeia). If based on their last name however, they would be French, because their family name is du Couteau, literally mean “of the knife”
: Not enough data. Error code: #Void_not_found
: Not enough data. Error code: #BandleCIty_not_found
and
: Based on the Reddit page, Darius name is similar to "Daruish", meaning "Kingly" in Persian. By that reason, he will be Persian. However, similar to Cass and Kata, Draven and Darius are siblings too. But Draven's name is origin from Old English. So what's the real answer? After some research, I found out that Afro-American tend to name their kid with a Persian name. By that reason, I concluded that both Darius and Draven is American. This is currently the best thing I can ome up right now
: Diana is a direct reference to Roman Mythology's Diana, the goddess of the moon (much like Artemis in Greek Mythology). By that reason, Diana is Italian! This is pretty easy tbh.
: I personally think Ekko is African American. Ekko is an American name, it is also a homonyms with echo, so we can conclude he is American. Additionally, he is, uh..., have a dark tone skin (im trying my best not to sound racist here) and a thick American accent, so he is definitely an Afro-American (in my opinion). Btw the kk in Ekko is a symbol for the Backward Button (in DvD or BluRay) too.
: Next is our spider lady, Elise. Elise's name originated from a Hebrew world "Elisheva", which mean "God's promise". This is exceptionally right for her. In the lore, Elise brought innocents to the Shadow Isles, then feed the Vilemaw, in exchage for internal youth. By that, Vilemaw is Elise's "God's Promise". Anyway, because the word is from Hebrew, we can say that Elise is Israelis.
: In the lore, Evelynn is a Demonic, Spiritual Creature that appear even before human (much like Nocturne) so there is NO WAY we can know what is her nationality. All I can say is... she is Terran (People that live in the earth). Or I can just find the world's most famous promstar and find what her nationality is ;)
: Same case with Annie and Tryn, Ezreal is a developer/employee nickname too. And his name is Colt Hallam. Thanks to Linkedin (a website), I was able to found out that he is American (live in LA). Therefore, Ezreal is American too.
: Fiddlestick's nationality is...unknown. All we know in his lore is that he used to be a man. That's it. I can't even found his real name. If Riots didn't change his lore. Then he will just be another Terran like Evelynn...
: Fiora's name is a reference to a famous Italian fencer: Fiore Dei Liberi, also fiore mean flower in Italian. So does that make Fiora Italian? Not quite... You see, Riot really focused on voiceover (I mean they literary change Dark Star Thresh voice 6 times to make it sound like nowaday), and they wouldn't let a random French girl to voiceover an Italian based character (not racism). If you look into her lore, we all can easily found out that her last name is Laurent, which is a common French name. Furthermore, although fencing is created in Italy, French is the one who developed it more. So in summary, Fiora is French.
: Not enough data. Error code: #BandleCity?_not_found
: Since Galio is a statue, so lets talk about the person who created him: Durand. After 2 min of googling (for real), Durand is an English name. If we followed the lore, Durand's creation, Galio is created in Demacia and still in it now. By that reason, I personally think Galio is British.
: Gangplank's name is just another version of "Walk the Plank", an execution method by pirates. So how can we found out what is his nationality? There is a high chance that Gangplank is inspired by Blackbeard, and he is British. So Gangplank is British (just for now).
and
: Another sibling. Not as easy as Cass and Kata, their last name "Crownguard" doesn't prove much about their nationality (because their job is literary "crown guarding": Garen is J4's protector while Lux solve problem secretly with her magic). Lux is a latin from of light so nothing much to say here...However Garen is a mixture of Old French and Old German. Which would make them either French or German (imagine Kata is French and Garen is French too... Romeo and Juliet <3)
: Not enough data. Error code: #BandleCity_not_found
: Even though Reddit doesn't mentioned about this, but Gragas is an Iceland version of Grey Goose law. COINCIDENTALLY, Grey Goose is a wine brand in Paris (The website that I found isn't written in English so uhhhh....) By that reason, Gragas is an Icelandic.
: Graves's name is the only clue we have here so yea... This name's origin is from England so Graves is British. This would make sense because Graves and Gangplank came from the same region (Bilgewater) so it would be nice if they're both British.

is Russian.
an arabic name that means Heaven , there are no other words , and in the lore they confirmed her name is Shuriman , and you know which country Shurima exactly feels in real world
an arabic name that means " The Hammer " the person who uses a Hammer
an arabic word or more like Al-Zahar but got changed to americanize the word a bit , and it means " the Flowerer ? " something like that , a man working on flowers and stuff
which is Zahra but got also changed for accent stuff same as Malzahar which means ' Flower "
also not sure about this name being arabic but I can tell what I know ,
Literally in arabic means " Pearl " and Lulu is also a nick name used for girls who's names start with "L" like " Layla "
I heard somewhere it's it was taken from Turkish which means " Zero " , which is originally an arabic word since 33% of Turkish words were taken from Arabic , but can't say for sure if it's meant that way , but this is the only clue , this name has nothing in other languages
And
sounds a little arabic to me " not sure " but he is Related to Malzahar in their story and " adin " at the end sounds like the same one from Aladin , but I have no idea about the " kass " part , this name doesn't exist in any language at all
As for Azir , you talked about it
As for other Shuriman champions , they don't have Arabic names " they don't have to " but you know what comes in mind when you see Desert
is a Japanese name " don't know the meaning since it's a very old name "
which means Ocean or Waves in Japanese
in Japanese , it means Sky " Sora only " the " Ka " is kind of for making the name more femalish since the name is used for both genders , you can use Soraki or Sorachi for making name more like a male , same case as " Suzu , Suzuka , Suzuki " I think
I'm confident that it's the Japanese name that means " Smile "
looks Chinese to me
sounds french to me
are definitely Russian
which is anagram for chaos. Country that made most chaos in world and is in war since exists? America, therefore Shaco is American.
