New champion concept #veryscared

I have a major favor to ask to riot like it's very big but sadly I am scared they'd just ignore it or won't even use some part of my somewhat champion idea. I'm not begging or anything I'm just asking if they could just please check it out first. Honestly I've all my effort on making her kit and lore and lol I'm pretty sure. I need some more adjustment to it. Making her fit in leagues of legend yet unique, I'm only asking for permission first I don't want to be rude and intrude them from their work. To be fair I am very nervous about this cause it's my first time doing this. All I could say this champion is somewhat of a mage/fighter in a way.

So...a few things. First off, feel free to share things! Some of us love seeing ideas.

Be aware that there ARE people who will be negative and/or unhelpful, so be prepared to see criticism. You need to be somewhat thick-skinned about it to post here sometimes, but there are also people who will give meaningful critique and encouragement.

That said, the Riot design team doesn't really look at this forum much, and they DEFINITELY don't take user champion suggestions to actually implement in-game. People will tell you there are some similarities between designs and things posted, but it's almost entirely coincidental: Riot designers don't have TIME to browse the forums for ideas -- they're pretty damn busy.

So definitely share your ideas if you're interested in seeing the response, getting feedback, or just sharing your work. But if your intent in sharing is to get a Riot response, be prepared to be a little disappointed: it CAN happen, but odds are very small. If your intent is to get Riot to USE something you made, the odds are basically nonexistent.

Thanks it actually means alot in all honestly but just wish riot team would atleast read it or something you know? I would feel better if they actually did. But personally i want to be a concept artist for riot games

They just don't have the time to read them, sadly, let along actually analyze ideas. Riot's design team isn't as big as people thing (source: interviewed there for a design position), and they work pretty damn hard all the time. Their on-clock hours are full already, so there's not much time to read ideas, ESPECIALLY when you consider just how many ideas there ARE, between the millions of players.

And go for it. Riot is an amazing company: if you have any questions about the application process, the environment, or my personal recommendations for an application (based only on my experience -- I can't speak for them, but I can talk about the vibe I got of the people and what they're looking for), I'm happy to chat...at least within the limits of the NDA. :P

While I know it is highly uncommon, pretty much 1/1,000,000 chance, Riot does in fact occasionally, or they used to, look at these forums. Especially when there was this huge buzz over an idea in the forums. The champion concept that was getting all of this hype is now known today as Riven. And of course it wasn't the exact same, but the similarities were so many in number that it couldn't not be Riven. It was even posted a while before Riven came out, and the only real differences were the order of her abilities ( E was Q, W was E, and the Wind Slash part of her R was her E, and Q took it's place), and "she" was the Prince of Noxus. If it's still sounding coincidental, there were even Rioters comments on the forum. On more of a side note, I personally like to think they ripped of my idea of a half dragon (Shyvana), but it's probably not true.

Also, maybe the creator of this thread will read this, and I'd just like to encourage you to put the idea out there, because you will regret it more in the end if you didn't. These forum's were created to allow you to express yourself and share you awesomeness with the world!

Riot does sometimes, yes. the design team portion less frequently, or so I have been told by a member of the design team. :P

Do you have a link, out of curiosity? I'm familiar with almost all of the "this was a player concept" champion theories (pretty much none are really valid -- although Riot HAS used player skin ideas before) but haven't heard of this one.

Given that half-dragons have been part of fantasy lore for decades, unlikely. :P

I honestly would love to give you a link, but we're talking years back when Riven was created, and so it's more than likely removed, along with millions of concepts and ideas piled on top of it, because of how this forum search works. If you would like to try and find it, it should have had the name "Riven, The Exiled Prince". It was posted before her creation too, so it just seems fishy that they would all line up like that. (but how much are you gonna trust my word, a random guy on the internet? :/)

On the topic of Shyvana, a guy can believe though can't he? :D Also, the abilities are all extremely similar, even the lore is decently similar in that I used Jarvan to find out about Decordinotus, The Dragon King (Really weird and kinda cheesy name, I was like 12 though).

Found it (they never deleted the old forums, or any of the content on them).

It's...not very similar, honestly. It's named Riven, but that's an edit added later, and the post HAS been edited after Riven's creation, so it's hard to tell.

The only real similarities are an Exile from Noxus, a jump-slash ability (which functions entirely differently), and a move called "Wind Slash," which isn't really a creative name (and wind-based martial arts in fantasy have been around for a long time as well). Hell, this character even has 2 huge channels, while Riven is all about fast and fluid ability use.

I think this one is honestly pretty baseless, although its true there are an odd similarity or two, mainly in the name (which may have been edited later).

Plus it's almost entirely the creator bumping the threat, and the post is assembled without editing, without good formatting, without thoughts/reasons provided, and with a kit that is, frankly, not well assembled. I don't think this is one that would have caught Riot's attention: this may just be coincidence and editing.

Checked this one out for fun as well. STILL not seeing the similarities, aside from the fact that you have a trail of flames, a ranged poke, and you transform into a dragon that makes you slightly tankier.

Yours is a hybrid-scaling CC-wielding monster that slows everyone around him, snares enemies with an axe, throws projectiles at targets and then leaps after them (on a SUPER low cooldown for a 1.5 second stun -- this is INSANELY overpowered! :P ), and your ult turns you into a true-damage flame-throwing-spewing Rumble that gives you really strange scaling defenses and can randomly execute someone.

So Half-Dragon? Sure. The rest? Not so much. :P

Again, it's really nice to think these things. It's possible that someone read something, talked to a designer, and got an idea stuck in their head that may have been inspired by, say, a Social Media Outreach guy reading a thread and then having a lunch-time conversation with a designer or concept artist.

There hasn't yet been one that can be actually traced back to a community creation though. Whether that's good or bad is up to personal opinion.

Still waiting for the negative and unhelpful posts on my own tbh, I feel so unloved by the critics XD ppl are more like preferin g to ignore these days no matter if they like or not

Yeah ppl tend to steal, my LB skin idea was stolen literally 2 days later, but im stubborn so I posted the original thread where I had shown that skin idea :D So you can do the same if someone tries to steal your idea too

Many people post many concepts, it's not a big deal so don't be worried. In a perfect world they could use everyone's champion concepts.

To be brutally honest, nothing negative will occur if you release your Champion concept. The downside is that Riot will most likely not officially notice it and might convert your idea into an actual champion months later without giving you credit similar to what happened to Dai-Ma. You could probably send the concept directly to Riot's design/concept team and "cut out the middleman" per se and they would be more receptive to it. I would message someone on that design team and ask if they would be interested in a champion concept before you post it. ATM this might not be the best time to do anything due to Kled being announced but I think after his release you can do what you think is right.

Just do it like me, make a huge story and present your new concept in it, after few chapters maybe you'll finally get some interest... Cough, it's fun! I pretty much presented and whole new kit of a champion with my last comment, even if none noticed XD But it's fun you some times get appriciated. Some times ppl just view and wait for more of what you can do, silently. Not caring to tell you :p

P.S the designer team regulary check the boards, even if it doesnt seem so, so dw. They'll probly notice
