On the exploration of mechanical concepts

Mechanics in league of legends are the part I enjoy most about the game. Everyone respects when a new, game changing mechanic busts into the pbe, ready to be explored by the first league-comunity testers (whether the mechanic is beloved or despised is arbitrary). So naturally, as the creative and free-thinking individual that I wish I were, I thought up something. When I think of magic, I almost always think of a ritual; this takes a good amount of time or resource to cast (and can fail if done incorrectly), but has a large payout. So what better to do in a fantasy MOBA than make it into a really fun, probably scaled-down mechanic. When discussing this with my friends, I found it generally hard to explain in anything that didn't resemble a paper-kit. So without further ado...

Passive: Auto attacks refresh spell cooldowns by one second. Spell cooldowns are not affected by this if used in a ritual.

Q: Fires a skillshot that briefly slows and passes through enemies. The cooldown is immediately refreshed if cast into a ritual High cooldown, low mana cost

W: Throws a ball of energy at a target, dealing aoe damage. The mana cost is refunded when used in a ritual Medium cooldown, high mana cost -----------------/-----------------------------------------------

E: loses a small amount of health to gain a stack. Each stack gives nearby allies slightly boosted hp regen. Each stack gives the player a little extra damage. At 3 stacks, you heal a little and stacks are refreshed Medium cooldown, no mana cost

R: this is accessible at level one. Casting this creates an altar at the targeted location where a ritual can be cast. If it is off cooldown, it can be used any time during a ritual to amplify its stats by a percentage. Cooldown: lv1) massive lv6) large lv11) big lv16) average, mana cost: lv1) low lv6) lowish lv11) mid-low lv16) average

Possible rituals: Ritual of healing (EWQE)- allies in an aoe get healed Ritual of harm (QEQQ)- fires a large laser in target direction Ritual of thorns (WQE)- allies that come into contact with the altar during the ritual deal a bit of damage back to the inflicter Ritual of aggression (WQQE)- globally, allies get a minor attack speed buff

Okay so, pretty much all of the specifics are arbitrary which is fine. This isn't so much about designing a champion as it is designing a mechanic. It just so happens that I designed a kit around it, like some champions are, in order to highlight the mechanic (examples of champions based on mechanics include but are not limited to: braum-body blocking everything for your team, teemo-watching the world burn, etc.). So what it boils down to is this: I believe that an entire ritual casting system would make for a great mechanic in league of legends. However, this mechanic is a bit odd in that it requires a little catering to be useful in lane and not actually make one miss out on crucial cs. I intentionally tried to circumvent this problem in my paper-kit so you might see how it could be done. In all, I wanted to shine a little light on this mechanic idea that I've been sitting on. It would be great and be an honor to have it implemented into the league itself (assuming its implementation is caused by this thread). Good luck to everyone out there, and Riot, keep up the good work.

Guess the fantasy really is leaving and the "futuristic" stuff is taking over :{

Sad we're going to become League of Overwatch soon in this rate :{

I think the new Ryze kinda does something already like this- each part of his kit save for his Ult has some aspect to it that encourages immediate use of another power, so you can string together multiple castings of different powers to effectively create one bigger, more elaborate spell.
