If Vi is suppose to be a Police Officer why did riot give her a demon skin?

I mean shouldn't the skins NOT contradict a champions lore or does it even matter? (Obviously no but I'm trying to make a point) I'm just wondering what other's opinions on this is. I know a lot of skins have nothing to do with the Lore but when it contradicts the lore it just seems kind of odd.

Skins, IIRC, are like "alternate realities" or just fantasies of a character.

Reaper Soraka, Star Guardian Lux, Academy Ekko, and so on.

From what I see, Vi got a demon skin because her base character is quite chaotic. Sure, she swings toward good (and to Caitlyn, I'm betting), but she's quite chaotic compared to the order Piltover is often seen as. Demons are often seen as agents of chaos, not always just evil, but they lean toward the extreme.

Since Olaf is a serious viking, should Brolaf not exist? Since Vel' Koz is a void creature should he not have an Arclight skin? Since Quinn and Garen are Demacian soldiers, should their Corsair and Rogue Admiral skins not exist? Since Gangplank never actually died should his Spooky skin not exist?

I don't know what point you're trying to make here. There have always been skins that don't mesh with a champ's lore. That's kind of the point of having a skin. It's something different.

Reaper Soraka is the biggest counterargument which I can think of It's a skin, it's supposed to look good(which it does), Lore goes out of the window in most skins anyway.

Demon Vi is way more Halloween than the slayer skins.

Skins represent creativity, and this is Riot's way of delving into new ideas for characters that can shape their lores in different ways. Take PROJECT: Master YiMasterYi for example.

Skins explore other ideas than that of the champions actual lore.

If skins were supposed to be canonical explain the Justicar range as well as plenty of other skins that go against the champions own story.

Riot on Police Brutality.

Very fitting indeed.

But really it's a skin, who cares.

Same reason why Aatrox didn't get a Blood Lord skin - It's RITO logic.
