[Champion Concept] - Payton, The Soul Binder (Incomplete)
This is my first champion concept so please be respectful of that, thank you!
So, to start off with ill tell you my reasoning behind making this (mostly) unique champion, im getting tired of the same-old same-old mage champions, true we have champions like Xerath, Ahri, and a few unmentioned ones that bring some interesting plays to the Fields of Justice, but nothing truly unique.
Lets get to the spells. (I haven't gotten the scaling/damage calculated and balanced, please give me time with that, this is just a rough description of his power.)
SPELL SECTION
Passive: [Spiritual Clone] (Name for Passive is a W.I.P.) - The first time Payton takes damage after each respawn or after he uses Spirit Sapper, he spawns a spiritual copy of himself with no health. 35% of all damage Payton takes becomes health for the follower. Upon taking lethal damage, if the clone is in a certain proximity to Payton, his spirit goes to the clone, re-birthing himself in the clone with the amount of health the clone has. (Side Note: The clone can NOT do damage, but can take damage, making it usable to block skill shots, also it is controllable with ctrl+right click.)
Q: [Soul Bind] Mana Cost: (60 at all levels) Cooldown: (10s at all levels)- Payton launches a magical beam in a straight line towards an enemy champion, if a unit is in range the beam connects the target with the nearest enemy unit (Targets champions over minions) to it, the champion can not move a certain distance away from that unit for the next 3 seconds and at the end of the duration the bind detonates, (200/300/400/500/600) magical damage and 45% of Payton's ability power to both units.
W: [Spirit Sapper] Mana Cost: (100 at all levels) Cooldown: (18s at all levels) Payton channels for 3 seconds, immobilized. During this channeling he controls his clone completely but can cast no spells and gains 30% movement speed. At the end of this channeling (Or if it is recast.) Payton's clone detonates, dealing (150/350/525/700/760) and 45% of Payton's ability power.
E: [Inner Vortex] Mana Cost: (70 at all levels) Cooldown: (14s at all levels) - Payton pulls all enemies (Maximum 5 units, targets champions over minions.) in a cone in front of him to himself, then forces them forward in a straight line after 0.5 seconds, dealing (60/130/240/360/440) magical damage and 55% of his ability power, if the enemies hit terrain they are stunned for (1/1.5/2/2.5/3) seconds, and they take an extra 50% damage based on their maximum health.
**R: [Phase Walker] **Mana Cost: (140/180/220) Cooldown: (120s at all levels) - Payton launches a concentration of spirit energy in a straight line, if it hits terrain units can pass through it for the next (2.5/3.5/4.5) seconds before it closes. If it doesn't hit terrain it forms a spirit pit that slows all enemies by (40%/50%/60%) and sears their soul for (200%/250%/300%) of Payton's ability power as magic damage over the next 3 seconds.
LORE SECTION
So the story behind Payton goes like this;
Payton once served as a monk in one of the few great Ionian Monasteries. He served under a wise and mysterious master who never revealed face or name to any of his students, Payton grew more and more anxious to unravel this mystery over the years he served for this man. One day, the master called all his students into the grand hall in the very center of the monastery, he looked at his students from under his cowl and told them that they would begin a series of trials starting on that day, and the top pupil will take his place as master. So the trials began, each more difficult than the last. With each trial, the students that could not finish them were banished from the temple, Payton refused to become one of them, he wanted nothing more to become the master. After many weeks of rigorous challenges, it came down to Payton as the only one left, and so Payton confronted the master, closed his eyes, and bowed. His master merely raised his hand, and pressed it too Payton's forehead, and in an instant Payton became infused with all of his master's power and knowledge, Payton glanced into the spirit plane on that day and saw the souls of all the masters of the temple who came before him, one by one he gained their knowledge and power. When he reopened his eyes, they were no longer the eyes of a human, but the glowing yellow eyes of an enlightened master of spirits. He looked to where his master stood only to find a spectral figure of himself, the being then faded into Payton, he now knew that his body is the vessel of countless masters before his own, he had all their power and knew how to use it as well. Payton instinctively became driven to demonstrate the power of this enlightenment to those who would harm the innocent of Ionia, he began to seek out all those who had brought terror to his people, for now he knew their names, strengths, and weaknesses. So he left the monastery, the spirits inside him commanded him, drove him to do so...
INTERACTIONS AND ANIMATIONS
So, now that you know his lore and goal, its pretty obvious that his main enemies are

. So, here are my ideas for his jokes/taunts/dance/laugh/backing animation/attacking/ETC.
Jokes:
Some of the spirits in Payton float out of his chest before they are absorbed back into it. "You know, you guys are like brothers to me - very, very, very, older brothers." "Guys, I have something to get off my chest... get it...?"
--While near Zed-- "Look Zed, I can have more spirits than you can have shadows. Ha!"
Taunts:
Payton floats about a foot off the ground as yellow magic swirls around him before it dissipates. "You will be one with the spirits soon enough!" "I have seen into life and death, you will soon see only death!"
--While near Syndra-- "You want power Syndra? But you're too weak to handle it!" "Come Syndra, I will show you the power of the beyond!"
--While near Karthus-- "How dare you torment these poor souls!"
Dance:
Payton and a spirit lean on each others back and each one crosses their arms while they nod their heads synced to a beat.
Laugh:
Payton hunches over with his hands on his knee and slaps one while laughing.
Recalling:
Payton begins to float while looking to the sky while yellow runes begin to form in a circle at his feet, at the end of the channeling he drops into a portal that is opened by the runes and pops out on the other side at the fountain.
Death:
Payton clutches at his chest as his eyes and mouth open and bright yellow light glows from them, then a horde of yellow spirits blast out of his chest before he completely collapses and his body burns away in yellow magic.
When he respawns, all the spirits that left his chest reform his body at the fountain.
(THESE SAME EFFECTS HAPPEN WHEN HIS PASSIVE ACTIVATES AND HIS BODY FORMS INTO HIS SPIRIT CLONE.)
Auto-attacks:
Payton fires a bolt of magical energy from his hands {He alternates between each hand with every other basic attack.}, similar to a Karma auto-attack yet instead of green its yellow.
When Payton critically strike he fires the shot from his eyes, the bolt itself looks just like his normal basic attack but a little larger.
Casting Spells:
Q: Payton holds both palms out with his wrists pressed together, the beam is similar to Soraka's silence yet like his basic attacks is his signature golden-yellow. The beam then spreads from the first target hit to the nearest enemy unit, the beam looks just like the initial one from Payton to his target yet is constant, and the range that the target can walk from whomever he is chained to is about half of Kha'Zix's isolation passive.
W: Payton claps his hands together and stands straight-up while channeling, yellow magic flows around him and a beam connects him and the clone during the channel time.
E: Brings both of his arms in quickly to his chest, then pushes hard infront of him and grunts loudly, the inital cyclone looks like a reverse Kassadin slow and the push is like Kassadin's actual slow yet in a straight line, not a cone.
R: The concentration looks like a Morgana stun yet larger, and when it hits terrain the portal it creats is similar to Malzahar's AOE burn but on a wall, same thing from it when it creates the spirit pit, yet on the ground and a bit larger than it.
