New Fiddlesticks Voice Idea

Fiddlesticks and Volibear: Dev Update #1

So this post is basically 99% for the team at Riot remaking Fiddlesticks Fiddlesticks at the moment, but feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments as it may help them. For those of you that don't know, check Necrit's video on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wSqOfvsgOo

As far as I can tell the team currently working on this are still deciding the details like skin, voice, story etc but I had an idea for the voice that I think would be pretty cool and relevant. The idea I have is that fiddlesticks doesn't have a voice, nor can he produce sound; why would a scarecrow be able to make a sound? However, whatever caused the monstrosity mimics nearby sounds.

Hears how it runs in my head;

  • Example 1: - Fiddle is jungle and decides to gank the enemy Yorick Yorick . - Once Fiddle has clicked to attack Yorick he might mimic the voice line "Fear not... I will make use of your corpse." (pick quote) except the voice line is HEAVILY edited to sound really deformed and more unsettling rather than scary. - If Fiddle gets the kill on Yorick he might mimic again with another quote of Yorick, like "It's your funeral." (Ban quote)

  • Example 2 (where I think it could be most effective): - Fiddle is in the jungle and kills gromp - Fiddle then mimics the death sound of gromp, again heavily edited and very unsettling

I think this would just be a really fun and interesting use of voice lines in League, and could even bring in some old voice lines that are no longer used.

Issues with this idea:

  • Will likely have to load in a lot of voice lines per match, though I don't think this would that much more than the average champion.
  • Taunting, joking or laughing could be an issue, for this I think it should be a random champion in the game (including team-mates, or just the nearest enemy)
  • The way the voice lines run in my head are very broken, echo-y and bass-y which could be a problem when it comes to many sounds playing at the same time and cause it to sound to over-empowering; though this would also fit his character so feature not issue? ;)

I have missed a lot of issues though I feel like most of these would be pretty common issues for voice lines anyway. I'd love to hear feedback from anyone as this is a place for fans to connect and chat! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Its a really good idea but you missed a very important issue. If we went with your idea then it would be possible for fiddle to scout the jg. If he used the voice line of the nearest enemy he could estimate where people are based on that. While this in and of itself would kinda work for his ambush theme it just seems a bit unfair to me. After reading riot's post they said they tried to make fiddles voice an amalgamation of 5 voices at once but it was too confusing. I have two ideas that run on a similar vein.

Example 1: Fiddle has been around a long time so what sense does it make that hes constrained to only the4 champs in league. My idea is that you take one of the voice lines for fiddle and have different voices of his past "victims" say the words. For instance lets say he has a voice line that says "no, don't run away". Have the no said by a scared child, the don't by an angry man, and the run away by a terrified woman. Then tie it all together with one another by adding a sound that would make it seem like the voices are being carried on a breeze.

Example 2: The multiple voices at once was a good idea for an eldritch horror like fiddle but it was simlpy to confusing. What if you had 3 of those voices say the same line or maybe just one of them but on an echo. It would still have that same creepy feeling but it would be easier to understand.

Im sure there are more problems with those but i think they are solid. If Riot wants to use any of these ideas they have my full permission to do so.[slayer-jinx-wink]
