It's cool and I hope Riot can do it, but I know they have to go through a bunch of legal stuff when taking ideas from other companies.

yeah I know but Riot still had to go through legal hoops to get it...just like with the other skins that are related to other companies. I just don't know how easy it is for them to do it.

No, they went through no legal hoops for Annie In Wonderland or any of their other skins which are a nod to non-riot-owned properties.

Even if an idea is copyrighted, parodies of it are protected by law. And in spite of what people think, the legal term "parody" does not solely apply to the comedic genre of the same name, but to any work made as a commentative immitation of an existing property, parodies can be non-comedic or even not critique the original property at all. This includes what gaming culture often refers to as "call-outs" and "easter eggs", likenesses from another intellectual property placed into a video game as a nod to the developers or its fanbase being parts of that properties fandom or even that properties status as a wide-reaching cultural icon.

And in this specific case, Lewis Carrol's work are all public domain, they were made during an era where everything defaulted to public domain after a certain amount of time, so no one can stop anyone from using it however they want.

But for real, the skin ivern has is pretty garbage compared to his basic skin (personal opinion, dont get TRIGGERSEED) I know ivern is relatively new but pls, we want dis.
