Lore
In the city of Zaun, lived two brothers; Frank and Stein. Stein, a genius, who liked tinkering with toys, fascinated by the electrical components that made them run. Frank, above average intellect, was more of a fighter than a thinker, mostly getting into tussles with the neighborhood kids. These two brothers, although different in many ways, where always seen together enjoying each other’s company, even when tragedy struck their home. One night one of the chem factories exploded, spilling its deadly toxins in the air, the explosion rocked the southern half of the district, lurching Frank and Stein both awake. They peered out the window and saw greenish, grey smog slowly pouring into the streets. Stein rushed for the breathing apparatus’s while Frank ran for his parents’ bedroom, forcing them to wake. Stein had secured the mask’s rushing for everyone to put them on and leave for higher ground where the dense chemical cloud could not reach. They rushed outside to everyone in their neighborhood in full panic, with most people not having gas masks on, Frank and Stein pulled their family toward the direction of higher ground hoping to make it in time before they where swallowed by the vile smog. Just as they rounded a corner they ran into another family, none of them had mask even the children. They parents of the family begged Stein to hand over some masks for their children, but Stein said they only had four. The mother cried as she hugged her two children, begging to help them. Stein kind hearted nature told him to at least relinquish his mask, but before he could, his parents had already removed theirs and given them to the other children. Frank and Stein both looked at their parents, tears filling their eyes as they both knew what this meant. Their parents hugged them, telling both of them to run, as the smog was coming in faster than before, as another explosion was heard from the chem factory. Stein cried they should run too, but he himself knew that they couldn’t outrun the smog and knew it meant his parents would die from the sickness that followed. Frank and Stein ran for it, with the two other children in tow, and after putting a few paces away from the smog, looked back, seeing his parents hug each other tightly as the Grey took over them, and killing them.
The years that followed their parents deaths, Frank and Stein, researched ways into curing the Grey, but even then it was of no use. What they found that it was basically incurable as the amount of damage it did before you could receive help was too great and irreversible. Even if you did find help before it took over the whole body, it would take organ replacements to fix it, but even then, if doctors didn’t make sure to replace every organ that was affected by the Grey it would still spread and ultimately kill you. In short in order to survive the Grey, you would either need a full body transplant or be resurrected from the dead. Stein decided to research the latter with his knowledge of electricity he knew the bases of how a body functions, but he needed to do more research and have his own lab. After months of searching, Stein and Frank found an abandoned warehouse that suited their needs, with Stein as the brains and Frank as the muscle, they set out to find the secrets of restoring life, with the possibility of restoring their parents.
The years that followed where brutal and took a toll on the young men, even with using the thousands of dead people killed by the Grey, Stein was never close into succeeding in resurrecting someone back from the dead. Frank himself was tired of trying to achieve the impossible and one fateful night he snapped, telling Stein to give up on his stupid dream of bringing back their parents. Stein yelled back, shoving Frank away from him, what he didn’t realize that this would knock Frank off balance and send him falling backwards, and the back of his head impacting the corner of a table. Frank was on the floor, bleeding, Stein rushed to his side, telling him he was sorry, screaming for him to come back, but Frank was already dead and Steins pleas echoed in silenced. His distraught turned to anger as he struggled with his brother’s body, setting him up on experimentation table, Stein closed the head wound on the back of his brother’s skull, secured two bolts to the body’s neck and strapped it in. Luckily for Stein a severe lightning storm raged outside. Stein took a syringe of liquid Grey, something that he found during his research, that the Grey itself was causing cells to regenerate and die so fast, the body couldn’t keep up with the process and would cause internal organs to fail. Stein found out that the Grey keeps up this process even in death, but no longer regenerates, but decays because the body was missing one catalyst: electricity. He plunged the syringe in Franks heart, he pulled on some chains that opened the ceiling windows and erected his make shift lightning rod that led all the down to the table. Immediately lightning hit the rod, sending it’s thousands upon thousands of high voltage into the rod, the table, and ultimately into Frank. Frank’s body convulsed under the extreme voltage, the liquid Grey inside his body sparked its regeneration phase into overdrive. On the inside the Grey was doing its job, healing the organs that where dying due to lack of oxygen, but on the outside was a different story. Frank’s body grew and with each pulse of the more he grew, until he was well over seven feet tall; however, his skin was compensating for the new growth as it tore under the stress, but the Grey was also healing it, along with adding more mass to Franks frame, and in the process started turning Frank’s skin into a gray color. Finally Frank’s eye’s opened, turning electric blue from the process and Frank roared in pain as he was brought back from death. “He’s alive! He’s alive!”
Short Story: Frank and Stein
“Frank hungry!” shouted Frank angrily.
“Yes, yes, I know. Just stay here in this alley, until I come back. The last thing I need is for you to start a riot,” Stein explained.
“Oooookaay, Frank, stay,” said Frank.
Stein peered out from the alleyway, making sure no one saw that he came from there, once he knew no one was looking, he strolled out into the open and headed toward the open market. The city of Piltover was certainly alive today as thousands of people crowded the market, some buying food for the week, while others bartered with the salesmen, hoping to save a coin or two. Stein; however, was just looking for the area where they keep the livestock, he already had plenty of food back home for himself, but feeding his glutton of a brother was another thing entirely. He made his way to area where they kept the cows, ready to purchase for local meat stores to buy in order to provide fresh meat for their customers. Stein made his way to an overly heavy set man, chewing something that Stein didn’t want to know. Stein fixed his white lab coat and gloves before speaking with the man.
“Excuse me, sir, yes, I would like to purchase one of your cows, please,” Stein said.
The man looked Stein up and down, before spitting out a black substance onto the street.
“You don’t look like no butcher, son. Why would you need one of them dere cows?” he asked.
“Well I won’t lie to you sir, but I need them to feed my older brother. He does have quite the voracious appetite,” Stein explained.
“You city folks with dat fancy talk, sometimes its hard ter undastand ya. Ta feed yer brotha, ya say, well if your offerin ta buy, I see no problem. It’ll be a thousand coins,” the man offered.
“What? A thousand? But your sign says 250 a head!” Stein shouted outraged.
“That der is ta the price for ya butcher. Fer someone like you, it’s more,” the man spat back, literally.
“That’s robbery! Ugh, never mind, I don’t have time to barter with a simple minded fool,” Stein said.
Just as he was about to reach for his money a shadowy figure bumped into him, knocking him to the side.
“Oh I’m terribly sorry, sir, it seems I wasn’t looking where I was going,” the man said.
Stein regained his posture before speaking.
“That’s quite alright, no harm done,” he said.
The man sauntered off at a brisk pace; giving the impression he was late for something. Stein merely shrugged as he resumed looking for his money; however, he couldn’t locate it as he patted his pockets and entire body, searching.
“Oh, dear, it seems I’ve been on the receiving end of a pick pocket, if you’ll excuse me one moment sir,” Stein said to the salesman.
The man shrugged, as Stein turned around to see if he could spot the man that ran into him. He spotted him a few ways down the street, making sure not to look back at his made target. Stein ran after him.
“Somebody stop that man! The one in the black cloak, he’s stolen my money!” Stein shouted.
No one paid attention to him, but the shadowy figure did speed up his pace, so Stein ran faster.
“Stop! Thief! I assure you nothing good will come from this!” Stein shouted.
The thief hurried his pace as he turned the corner into a dark alley, the same alley Frank was hiding in.
“Oh, dear, that is not good,” Stein said to himself.
There was a high pitch scream as the thief was thrown from the alley, landing on his back. The ground shook as Frank moved out of hiding into plain few.
“Wait, Frank, go back in the alley!” Stein shouted.
But his shout was drowned out by the immediate screams of nearby people as they panicked by the sight of Frank. Frank, ignoring the screams and people, made his way over to the thief and picked him up by the waist.
“Frank overheard brother, brother said you stole from him. Frank, unhappy,” Frank said.
“Who-o-o? M-m-me? I-I-I didn’t steal anything,” the man whimpered.
Frank roared at the thief, who clearly wet himself.
“Frank no like liars! Frank can smell bothers money! Give back to brother!” Frank shouted.
Stein finally stood at Frank’s side, exhausted from the running.
“Frank! Oh, man, my side. Frank, put the man down!” Stein demanded.
“Man stole from you, man must give money back,” Frank said.
Stein’s money pouch fell to the ground as the thief emptied his pockets.
“Okay, there’s your money, now let me go!” thief demanded.
“Frank, hungry”
As Frank said this he slowly lifted the thief to his mouth.
“Frank, no! I told you before eating people is bad! Put the man down!” Stein shouted.
Frank stopped and let the man go. The thief land on his back, hurried to get up, and ran for his life away from Frank and Stein.
“You see, this is exactly why I can’t take you places, you cause too much of a panic!” Stein explained.
“Frank, hungry”
Stein sighed; it was no use until Frank’s stomach was full. He looked around, noticing the market was now empty of people.
“Fine, let’s get you some food before the police show up, the last thing I need is another citation from Officer Vi again,” Stein complained.
“Frank, happy”
