Concept

Al'Hazid is a ranged support/mage themed around teleportation. His abilities focus on manipulating the positioning of himself and opponents to gain advantage in combat. I got the concept of Al from a character I played in Dungeons & Dragons.

Al'Hazid, the Elocater

Al'Hazid was borne to a vast and learned desert empire colonized on a world far away from Runeterra. Ruled by animalistic guardians, this civilization was dedicated to the acquisition of knowledge. At the heart of this great nation stood the Great Library which served as both a vault of ancient knowledge and the repository of the teachings of the Cycle of Life and Death. Those found worthy by Renekton, the Gatekeeper of the Great Library, could enter and hear the teachings of the enlightened Nasus.

Much time has passed since the disappearance of the Keepers of the Great Library, and those with evil sewn in their hearts gained access to knowledge that had once been forbidden. The great civilization that was once stalwart and peaceful became corrupt with evil. In a time before, Al'Hazid was one of the many scholars learning under Nasus, but when the keepers disappeared he was forced to flee while his colleagues around him either fell into darkness or were cut down. Al'Hazid was forced into the surrounding desert. There, he watched in quiet contemplation as the shining home that was his nation gave way to corruption and death.

Al'Hazid vowed to find the Keepers and return the balance of life and death. In the quiet of the night, A-Hazid slipped into the Great Library and locked himself into one of its many wings. There he remained, studying the schools of magic and penning notes into his journal as this new found knowledge fueled his motivations. Over time, Al'Hazid learned the secrets of teleportation and came to master its techniques. He learned of the countless dimensions that permeated each other and learned to slip in and out of pocket dimensions, moving him from one point to another almost instantaneously.

As Al'Hazid grew into adeptness, his inherent thirst for knowledge grew. He delved into more powerful forms of magic, dancing on the border of the forbidden. Al'Hazid wanted to believe that his dive into the more powerful arts was only a means to a greater end, but he knew in his heart that a lust for knowledge was growing. Before his lust grew too strong to resist, Al'Hazid gathered what books he could and began his journey. He slipped into the Eternities, glimpsing into each dimension for signs of the Guardians.

In the Eternities outside of time, Al'Hazid spent what would have been years before slipping back into the material. He arrived in a climate not unlike that of his homeworld. In the Shurima Desert Al'Hazid wandered, following the trail of latent magical energy left by the powerful Nasus. In time Al'Hazid followed the trail into a crumbling ruin, finding Nasus in his own solitude. He explained to Nasus the condition of their homeworld and the urgency of his homecoming but Nasus would not return, believing that his role on Runeterra was of greater importance. Begrudgingly, Al'Hazid complied with Nasus, joining the League of Legends in an effort to hasten the Guardian's return to his homeworld.

"I cannot help but respect Al'Hazid for all his contributions to a previously unexplored school of magic... But with all formalities aside, he really needs to stop asking me about my scroll." Ryze, the Rogue Mage.

Abilities

Passive: Displacement (Innate) Radius: 800 Al'Hazid's abilities manipulate his allies' location on the dimensional plane, allowing him and his allies to flicker in and out of the Eternities. Whenever Al'Hazid uses an ability, allied champions around him gain 4% movement speed and ignore unit collision for 2 seconds. This effect stacks up to 4 times. [Note: Multiple stacks of Displacement will refresh it's original duration, not stack on to it]

Q:Dimensional Anchor (Active) CD: 14 seconds. Cost: 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 Mana. Range: 850 Projectile Speed: 1600 Magic Damage: 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 / 130 (+0.70 per ability power) Al'Hazid fires a spacial anomaly in a straight line to a target area. dealing magic damage to the first enemy it hits and snaring them for 2 seconds. After using Dimensional Anchor, Al'Hazid can cast Baleful Teleport within the next 3 seconds.

Q:Baleful Teleport (Active) Cost: 40 Mana. Teleport Range: 600 Magic Damage: 30 / 50 / 60 / 80 / 100 (+0.30 per AP) Al'Hazid forces the target of his Dimensional Anchor through a pocket dimension, teleporting it a short distance and dealing magic damage to enemy units it passes through. [Note: Baleful Teleport does not teleport units through terrain, but it will teleport them through obstacles such as Anivia's ice wall or Jarvan IV's Cataclysm.]

W:Planar Instability (Active) CD: 10 seconds. Cost: 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80 Mana. Magic Damage per Second: 30 / 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 (+0.20 per ability power) Range: 600 Radius: 200 Al'Hazid destabilizes the planar resonance in an area. The zone lasts 4 seconds and while inside, enemies take magic damage over time. After using Planar Instability, Al'Hazid can cast Astral Lock within the next 3 seconds.

W:Astral Lock (Active) Slow: 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40% Cost: 40 Mana Al'Hazid anchors the planar instability to the material world. Any enemies who are caught inside of the zone when it is stabilized are slowed for 4 seconds.

E:Dimension Door (Active) CD: 15 seconds. Range Between Portals: 600 Portal Duration:3 seconds Cost: 110 Mana. Al'Hazid quickly creates a portal and dashes in, exiting through another portal a short distance away. Allied and enemy champions may follow him through these portals while they are open (It is a one-way portal, however). After using Dimension Door, Al'Hazid can cast Sunder Portal within the next 3 seconds. [Note: The entrance and exit portals are colored differently to denote the direction the portal travels.]

E:Sunder Portal (Active) Cost: 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 Mana Magic Damage: Total Magic Damage: 60 / 105 / 150 / 195 / 240 (+0.65 per ability power) Al'Hazid tears a rift through the dimensional door, collapsing it. After half a second, the rift deals magic damage.

R: Spacial Flux (Passive/Active) Active Cost: 100 mana Cooldown: 5 / 4 / 3 seconds New Spacial Flux Charge: 9 / 7 / 5 seconds. Passive Range: 650 Active Range: 375 Magic Damage: 125 / 175 / 150 (+0.60 per ability power) (Passive): Each time a spell is cast near Al'Hazid, he gains a charge of Spacial Flux, up to a maximum of 15 charges. Additionally, Al'Hazid gains a charge of Spacial Flux periodically (unaffected by cooldown reduction). Each charge gives him 1% cooldown reduction. (Active): Al'Hazid consumes 5 charges of Spacial Flux and teleports to target location, blasting the closest enemy unit with magic damage (prioritizes champions). [Note: The passive includes spells Al'Hazid casts himself. However, the active teleport ability will not produce a charge for itself. There is a 1 second internal cooldown on Flux charges gained from nearby spells being cast.]

Actions

Dance Tuluk Tuluk

Movement I like to envision his movement similar to Malzahar's, but with a faint, trailing image being left behind. Think of how High Templars moved in Starcraft I.

Basic Attack Al'Hazid slashes with his dagger, creating a little rift in space that snakes it's way to it's target, making a small burst when it impacts.

Quotes

Upon Selection

  • "By my guardian's will. My service is yours

Movement

  • "Progress must be made."
  • "I grow weary of this game."
  • "I find your lack of urgency disturbing." [Distasteful]
  • "Press on, Summoner!" [Impatient]
  • "You test my patience."
  • "What more must be done?"

Attack

  • "So shall it be."
  • "As you wish."
  • "Power overwhelming."
  • "Send them far from here."
  • "Into the Eternities."

Taunt

  • "Don't make me send you home to your mother."

Joke

  • "Uh, well... sometimes only half of the little pieces find their way through. So... if you had to choose only one half of your friend, which one would it be?"

Creator's Note

The concepts of this champion took a great effort on my part and as such, it would be appreciated if my ideas were not stolen. Al has a certain sentimental value to me, being a character I've played in Dungeons and Dragons for many years and manipulating him would be an offense to me and my work. Having said that... I hope you like him!

I'd also like to note that I do not claim the rights to any art or icons used in this post.

K, cool concept. Kit does need work though:

Passive - It's fine.

Q - Doesn't say in which direction it teleports them. If it teleports them to you, it's a worse version of Thresh hook if used at a distance, though it does synergise with E in that you can teleport into someone's face and immediately hit them with this and they end up way behind you and eat tower. This, by the way, is the only way to justify paying 140 mana.

W - I like the idea but it doesn't work in practice. There is no reason to NOT use W again right away because if you wait, the number of enemies in the area is only going to go down, not up. Have the second activation scale with how long you wait so there's an incentive not to do that.

E - THIS COSTS 230 MANA. x( At least there is zero reason to use the second activation; the first one is overcosted but actually useful and may even be worth the mana, but the detonation is a delayed blast in an unspecified area that is only going to hit anything if you teleport into their face and DON'T use Q to teleport them behind you which 1/ is probably more effective at killing them and 2/ prevents them from offloading all of their buttons into your face at point blank range.

R - It's fine, but I recommend replacing it anyway because it's blatantly an improved Ahri ult and a champion based on teleportation should have an awesome ult that turns Summoner's Rift into a five dimensional pretzel. Be creative!

So as it may be clear to some people, and was brought up previously, the art used for Al'Hazid is derived from the Heroes of Might and Magic Franchise. I'd like to look into some other art sources until I can take the time to get some original art for him, does anyone know any good art websites besides DeviantArt?
