[Champion Concept] Pele, The Great Awakening

Hey guys, got an idea that came from Legend of Korra's Ghazan. Basis for idea. And more importantly, her ult

You can skip to 1:15, if you're impatient.

I enjoyed what J4 did with his ultimate and thought, what if we had a champ that instead of keeping enemies in one spot, she kept her allies somewhere instead. Not necessarily by trapping them, but by creating a pseudo homefield advantage. In my head, I see Pele as a Jungler or Support. So without further ado, here's what I thought up:

Lore: There sleeps a volcano deep in the crevices of Runeterra. Lost in time. From the beginning - until the end. All who know the story say she’ll erupt when evil finally wins. So Demacia fights to keep her calm. Ionia prays for the same. But the fighting, it continues. And with every hungry roar, the magma burns a little brighter, feeding off such pure energy. Pele exists as a shard of this slumbering beast. An emissary sent to quell the fighting. To stand firm against all the violence and show that anger is not the only way.

But no one listens.

No one hears the rumbling at their feet.

Appearance: Old, tanned woman. Tired of all the fighting, but taking part in it - hoping with her power that peace can be found faster than without her taking part. (If anyone wants to submit their idea on the look, go ahead (: I figured League could do with an old woman champion finally)

Attacking:

“Just this once.”

“Good night.”

“End of the line.”

“Sweet dreams.”

Movement:

“A means to an end.”

“Runeterra wakes.”

“Look alive.”

“Till my last breath.”

“I will find peace.”

Taunt:

“You’re not as hot as I imagined.”

Joke:

“My mother? She was a steamy lava (lover).”

Pele — The Great Awakening

  • Passive: The Warm Up Every (x/y/z) seconds, Pele’s next Mortar Shot is empowered, dealing extra (a/b/c) magic damage. The more allies she has around her, the faster she warms up. However, the longer the cool down becomes.

  • Q: Mortar Shot First Cast: Pele fires a blast of lava at a target location. Detonating at the first enemy struck. Enemies struck by the main hit take (a/b/c/d/e) magic damage, while enemies hit by the blast radius take (x/y/z) magic damage.

  • Second Cast: Mortar Shot can be reactivated any time during its trajectory or on impact to be be cooled. If an enemy is caught in the cooling, they are rooted in place for (x/y/z) seconds. Otherwise, the cooled rock becomes impassable terrain for a period of time. While rooted in her Ring of Fire, Pele gains (x) more range

  • W: Hotspot Pele erupts a circular mass of rock from the ground. Any enemies in the radius take (a/b/c/d/e) magic damage and are suspended for (m) seconds. Enemies close to Pele are also slightly knocked back.

  • E: Center Sense Pele sends tremors through the ground, revealing all enemies in a (x)-range radius for (x) seconds and empowering her next auto attack to deal bonus magic damage.

  • R: Ring of Fire First Cast: Pele coats a (m)-radius circle with lava for (x) seconds, rooting herself for the duration. Enemies on the Ring of Fire take (x) bonus damage from Pele, as well as (x/y/z) magic damage equal to (a/b/c) percent of Pele’s max health over time. Also, enemies caught in the Cool Transition are rooted.
  • Second Cast: Pele can cool the rocks. Enemies on the cooled Ring of Fire are slowed by (x/y/z).

  • Gameplay:

A siege style of play. Pele thrives off of making it to objects early, and staying there. Using Ring of Fire to prepare a zone of operations, her increased range of Mortar Shot keeps the enemy team at bay while also setting up obstacles for your allies to navigate to their advantage. If wards aren’t enough, Center Sense helps reveal any flanking enemies - though only for a short time.

Pele doesn’t do well against hard engage teams. And especially not when they can just zoom through her Ring of Fire. Or call in an airdrop. Her ultimate also hurts the more health she has, so chunking her helps to greatly lower her effectiveness. And since she’s rooted for the duration of our ultimate, the second you see that Ring go down, you know her and her team intend to fight. What Pele has in siege potential though, is horribly lost in mobility. Be sure to capitalize.

  • Synergy:

Works well with: Janna, Xerath, Vayne

Struggles against: Nocturne, Pantheon, Xerath

  • Build:

A Rod of Ages grants Pele more than enough health to have her Ring of Fire truly burn. Magic Penetration and Cooldown Reduction also greatly benefit her quick bursty nature while she has her ultimate up.

Let me know what you guys think!
