Hypercarry support - Aethos "fragment of time"

Hi everyone.

I was without my daily podcast on my way home from work and started working on this idea. This concept of a champion feels really fun to me and would add some cool elements to the game.

The first idea that i started working this champion around was the concept of slowing down time. One of his abilities would be like a Maokai R slowing down all champions and projectiles. I also was attracted to the idea of an Hypercarry support. Before i give you my notes on this concepts i just want to excuse my wild use of these : """" I hope none gets annoyed. And i also use question marks when I'm not yet sure if something might not be thought well enough through. (idk if my english is bad, but if it is I'm sorry.)

My notes:

Aethos - Might be something "fluent" a whilte and blue couldy shape. Big model. Something changing as he walks/flies.

Lore - something deeper than Zilean. More to the core of time itself. The champ is thought of by thinking of how we think of time. Time is steady. May be a product of human perception. Imagine all the "time" sayings we have. Change them slightly or use them from his perspective and it is original "Time allways wins in the end" "Only time can tell" smiling "Looks like time caught up to you in the end" "can't escape time" "what would you do without me" "time stays" time flies" Someone with english as mother language would come up with more

Im thinking some Experiment/ascended thing gone wrong. A closed empty location was victim of some magic binding and time itself in this location was cut off from time in its entirety. Some part of time was trapped and while still having the "consciousness", beliefs and values as time he now has his own personality. Time itself only weaker. Unable to return to his previous state - back to his original "form" and to his "friends" as he now has come to call it -he is new to this different role of existence he is curious of his power and his different view of the world - and joins the league. His personality is affected of his previous eternity, all older champions is more esteemed in his eyes since he has witnessed more of them. He has a curios view of the league and isn't afraid to "die". He has witnessed all but not from this new point of view. Has become proud and even though he might "lose" he feels better than everyone else, since "these puny wars don't really matter in the long run". Time is also associated with destiny. What happens happens. and is already predestined. He is calm to the events of the world no matter how shocking the even might be. Is something happens that was destined to happen from the start" and the final "result" won't matter to Aethos either way? He is never shocked but he might feel more favorable towards some events to come.

Is Aethos only "killing time" joining the league? xD

Character built like janna/soraka/lulu maybe? Utility support.

Passive ( ability names might be associated with time ) His resource is time. At the staart of the game he gets 1t (time) every sec. As the game gets longer his resource regen per sec gets higher. His max t gets slightly larger every lvl? Max 50 at lvl 1? 80 at lvl 6? Full resource can give you a whole rotation before waiting for more time? He should have to chose what he needs to do at every time. If he chooses wrong he and the adc should be vulnerable. When Aethos dies time in that aeria is "dead" and time slows down for 10 sec before returning to normal. Initial slow is 70% for enemies and 30% for allies linearly decreasing until the 10 sec are up. The aeria is similar size of Aethos model size.

Q " 8-4 sec cd. ( or less depending on resource regen and balance) 15t SLOW moving spammable projectile with long range. Large hitbox? The projectile speed makes it unable to catch fleeing enemies. More effective at closer range. Close to his body the ability stuns for a short duration ( 0.5 - 1 depending on lvl and ap). Inside the aa zone the ability slows alot and outside it slows slightly. Might be used for controlling aeria like anivia wall more than trying to poke. If you see someone walking somewhere you can try to cut them off with this ability. Or as a disengage. Moves through targets, less dmg per target. Main dmging ability. I would like this ability to be a zoning ability. You don't want to get hit by this, but it is easy to evade. Aethos might even be able to shoot a secound q before the first q has traveled its distance. Though in Aethos' R state these projectiles will move perceptively faster.

As I've thought of this idea so far, this ability could be spammed a whole lot when something happens ( enemy jungler ganks? ) But since he don't have a whole lot of max t at early lvl's he won't be able to use his other abilities if he uses, lets say 3 Q's in a row to disengage from the gank. This might change slightly if he gets more resources at late game.

W.
6 sec cd 10t "soraka heal range"? Prolonges enemies cd on last used ability by 2 sec? More or less, balance it+ dmg?. / Slow enemy by same amount as speeded up as ally cast. If used on an ally or self speeds them up for 1 sec. Scaling from 30% -> 70%?. If used on ally in your R state it cleanses them to be able to move normally themselves.

E. 15sec cd? Halved when in R-State 30t 1 sec duration (very quick reactions are needed if not in R state) Long range Spellshield that can be used on allies. Can also be triggered by enemies aa's ( this causes the aa'er to be slowed )

--

R. Toggle 45t for the first 3 sec 10t per sec afterward. Aethos becomes "channeling" (like xerath ult) and slows time around himself in a huge radius (turret range?). He can still use his other abilities though "channeling". Everyone and himself. Larger radius and higher slow % at later lvl's. he can also use spellsield on himself to not get cc'ed out of his R state. Used to dodge skillshots. If all 4 in a botlane is inside this ult it would be a huge advantage to have instant effect abilities or targeted abilities that can't be dodged. since its slightly harder to hit especially if "time champ" uses W and E to protect his carry while the effect is active. Though his ult cant really help allies directly (exept for better reactiontimes) his ult in synergy with his other abilities can safe lives.

All of his abilities makes his kit very opportunistic. Also with his different abilities he can protect his carry from different threats with different abilities. As for AP ratios i want his utility to scale with ap and not his dmg since slowing time is such a strong mechanic he shouldn't be able to duel people with his dmg +utility.

All or some of my ideas for this concept might be better if tweaked or changed completely. From whole abilities to cd length or range.

Design thoughts:

Pros: -Cool concept with time -Name almost means "time" in latin - Aetas too close to Arthas xD -Concept is unique -Concept fits with abilities -Concept fits into the game(?) -Concept can be easily tweaked to fit even better into the game -Could be extremely epic in animations in the game

Cons: -We already have a time champ ( though this is easy to work around with some interactions. And Rene and Nasus and Azir is kinda similar in lore. more examples -No images or links -Coulve been worked more with everything -probably alot more but I've become blind to my design -Dont have reliable dmg + poke in the laning phase as I've designed him, but then again might be op when a fight breaks lose. -Is it even possible to create the R mechanic in this game? :(

  • No names for abilities yet

Give me some feedback!

If anyone wants to take this concept further i would love some mention in the final result :P That said, nothing would make me more happy than Riot using any or all of my ideas in some champion design of course.

I actually really like the concept of this champion. It adds a unique aspect to the game that hasn't yet been seen before, and I like the ultimate ability. It is a bit like Bard's ultimate, but doesn't completely freeze time, and rather slows it down instead. However, will his ultimate ability work on allies, enemy champions, or both?

I also like the concept of the "hypercarry support" as I haven't really seen a champion like it (Lulu however can be considered a hypercarry support as she is flexible with most roles), and I also haven't seen a champion that is a support and uses no mana. I do feel however that a utility hypercarry support champion that uses no mana would be borderline overpowered. The fact that he can't restore mana with potions however would counteract this.

The abilities are really good (except for the fact that they don't use a mana resource so technically they can be spammed) for a support, and would be useful for making life-saving plays (such as shielding an ally from Ignite or a cross-map/global ult). His W would be useful to counter champions such as Ezreal to prolong his Q cooldown (~3-4 second cooldown on his Q, and if it hits it's cooldown is reduced) theoretically making his ultimate on a much longer cooldown. His W is also really good for saving an ally at the expense of your own health during ultimate. If your ally is being chased down by the enemy team, using your ultimate on your ally/opposing chasers and using your W on your ally, you could potentially "sacrifice" your life to save your ally, and I really like supports who can do that. His Q is good for CC (its relative to Bard's Q) and can turn around a jungle skirmish nearly instantaneously.

In all, I absolutely love the concept of this champion and would like to see Aethos, the Fragment of Time implemented into the game. I feel Aethos wouldn't be a pain-in-the-ass support (I'm looking at you, Bard) and would easily turn team fights and skirmishes around. He looks to be a very promising champion that would help in escapes and engages, and would be a top-pick support if changed slightly.

Good luck on getting this champion into the League!
