[Champion Concept] The Spellbender

Hello everyone!!! Since we dont really have an anti-mage champion (galio and kassadin dont really count) I thought about how can such a niche be implemented in LoL. Here is where the "Spellbender" comes to play

> The Spellbender is based on the consept of not having counterplay and playmaking possibilities and also having clear strengths and weaknesses. In general he's ment to be a counterpick to spamming mages (AD or AP) while being weak against AAing heroes.

  • Passive: Arcane Protection The Spellbender recieves x% less spell damage while also recieving x% more AA damage from champions

> As I said, clear strengths and weaknesses. The spellbender is great at fighting with mages while being really weak vs stuff like Tryndamere , adc's etc.

  • Q: Spell Lock Point and Click, single target, Short range, high mana cost and cd. After a short delay the Spellbender "locks" the latest spell used by the enemy, making it go in cooldown while also having increased cooldown by 1-5 (depending or rank) +(1 per 1000 AP) seconds for 5 seconds. This spell also deals minor damage

> And here we go! Before you go type "OMG POINT AND CLICK SPELLS 0 COUNTERPLAY GG" let me explain the skill and why i think it has counterplay despite being point and click. You can bate the spell with your other spells (eg a Cassiopeia would be destroyed if her E was locked but if her w or ulti were locked it wouldn't really matter) Here is where the delay comes in. If you cast an other spell during the delay that spell get's locked instead! BOOM! counterplay.

  • W: Arcane Charge Linear Skillshot, Single Target, Medium Range, medium mana cost, low CD. The Spellbender stores a charge whenever an enemy casts a spell. This spell gains bonus effects depending on how many charges he has (charges are consumed on cast) 0-3 Charges: Minor Damage. 4-6 Charges: Slow, A bit more damage 6-15 Charges: Silence + Slow, medium damage 15+ Charges: Stun, high damage.

> Think of this skill like Kassadin's Force Pulse, only... better. You can use this spell to poke (although low damage due to no charges), soft CC or even hard CC, but you have to wait untill you have enough charges. The damage delt is also dependant on your charges. Again, great then against spammy heroes, not that great against AutoAttackers.

  • E: Blast of the Magus The Spellbender empowers his next autoattack, making it aoe while giving it more damage (base + %ap) the cooldown of this ability is reduced by 1 sec for each target killed by it.

> Some waveclear and damage for our Spellbender, with an interesting pseudo-reset mechanich.

  • R: Spellbending (Not the most original name, i know) Single target, Ally, High Cooldown, Medium mana cost. **On Ally Cast: ** The Spellbender chanels for 1.5 seconds, creating a shield for an ally champion which lasts for the duration of the chanel. If that ally is hit by an enemy Spell while he has the shield that spell is negated and the enemy champion recieves the effects of Spell Lock (damage amplified though). **On Self Cast: ** same as in ally cast, although the chanel is reduced to 1 second.

> Basically a spellshield which can be placed on an ally or your self, which also punishes the enemy who "broke" it. You can make sweet plays with it if used properly (saving an ally/yourself or killing the enemy with the damage), but it also has counterplay (eg if the enemy ults an ally he has to chanel so he's vulnerable) Side note: the Spellbender must taunt the enemies while chanelling.

Alright, now we're done with his spells let's talk about base stats etc. He should be squishy, with low armor and high base mr, medium mana pool and 325/330 ms Ranged attacks of course, I think it would be cool if he cast his spells with his hands like a traditional mage.

Appearance: I'm not good with drawing stuff, so i'll just describe how i picture him (sorry) He is a tall, old man with a beard who wears clothes similar to the ones the summoners wore in the OG trailer.

Lore: nah who needs it I can't really think of a cool lore, although I'm sure many of you guys here can think of a great story for an old Archemage who uses the magic of the emenies to beat them.

And all done!!! I hope you liked it! Sorry for the wall of text btw! :P Any feedback (positive or negative) is appreciated!

  1. I like the Idea but Galio and Kassadin are Antimages I think there should be a passive where he can sap mana away from champions to really do damage to those who require mana making him be countered by champs like Yasuo Katarina andAkali
