Shaco Rework Thoughts and Ideas Not a Complete Kit

So I am sure RIOT is already working on the Shaco rework and if not a full rework at least an update. He is my favorite champion to play as, but without a good team its hard for him to become viable, that being said I would love to see at least an update for him. Looking at his kit, I almost don't want to change anything because I don't want to take away from what Shaco is; a jester, and his kit portrays that. Anyway here are some ideas I thought of while at training today.

Ideas Passive: (I like his original passive but I think that can be used as part of another abilities passive) How many times as a mid laner or adc has a shaco appeared behind you and you immediately blow flash or use your escape out of fear? Well that's the basis for his new passive allowing shaco to create and place down a clone of his that does no damage but instead makes someone think you are there when in reality you are hiding in a side bush with no mana, and now you made them blow their flash and worry that you are just around the corner. The passive would allow you to place a life like shaco clone from a distance (mid bush to top of mid lane) that is meant to redirect or scare the enemy in using abilities. It would cost no mana to place and would be similar to teemo shrooms in that you can stack up them up to twice. only earning them on 7 small monster kills, 1 large monster kill or champion kills.

Q: Honestly I just believe his Q needs a reset factor something such as, on killing a champion within 3 seconds of using Q you are automatically put into deceive again, with 1/2 cost to your mana bar, it gives him a way to get in and a reward of getting out if you play correctly. the cd of decieve is based on the initial Q so you could potentially keep using it if you have the mana and keep getting kills.

W: I don't have a rework for his w its tough to think of something that belongs in his kit and still keeps his identity the same, write any ideas in the comments below.

E: My thought to change his E is to give him 3 knives to throw it allows him to have more consistent damage. Again this could be something where there is a cd between the knives but you can store up to three charges. Or another idea would be to give his e a reset upon it killing a unit 1/2 cd on minions and full cd on champions and large monsters.

R: Again nothing yet, I'd love to hear what you think write it down below I'll keep working on it.

These are just a couple ideas to start thinking on, I may not be on the right track at all, but as a player who loves using Shaco I wanted to keep his kit close to his Identity, and so far this was the best way I could think of.

in order to properly rework a champion while staying true to their identity is to recognize the strengths and weaknesses a champion has. Shaco is extremely good at ganking and dueling because his kit gives him tools to surprise and trick the enemy. To compliment this he also has good burst damage. His deceive also gives him the occasional escape in certain scenarios. However, he is very poor at sieging and teamfighting because he in inherently squishy, has short range combat capabilities and no AoE without help from items.

Additionally, most of his power budget is concentrated into his deceive (his passive is also strong, but it's real strength is the synergy with Q, W and R clone). Because of this - and because of the way invisibility is countered - his gameplay is also unhealthy. Either he will always get the drop on his opponent with a good second of burst, or he never will. Compounded with the fact that ganking and dueling happens much less often as late-game approaches, Shaco shifts from frustrating to useless.

Obviously the best type of kit is one with clearly defined weaknesses along with clearly defined strengths (which shaco has), but also with ways for the enemy to react and retaliate against your strengths (this is basically just a pink ward) and ways for you to survive in unfavorable situations (teamfighting and getting caught leave shaco with only his Q to survive, which is likely on CD when he desperately needs it). Shaco only has 1 of these 3 things, which leaves him as a 1-playstyle champion with very polarizing levels of success from game to game. Either the enemy drops pink wards and shaco can never reach his targets, or they don't and he always one-shots them in the blink of an eye. If the enemy is isolated, shaco has very low risk for a good reward. If the enemy groups, shaco's risk is much higher for the same reward ( this is a common problem with most assassins, but shaco has virtually no tools to deal with multiple enemies).

In my opinion, the best rework for shaco is one that maintains his strengths, takes away some power from his Q to put elsewhere in his kit to give him more options in combat and to make him less polarizing and frustrating, and to emphasize interaction with his clone for both him and his enemies.

Ok sure but why7/2/2016, 7:03:23 AM2 votes

I think a nice passive would be going invisible immediately after killing a champion.

I think shaco is perfect as he is. Only thing I can think of he might need is a bit of tweaking with his numbers and maybe give his shiv passive a poison or a bleed. It makes no sense for his two shiv poison to be named that when it doesn't actually poison.

Also a reset on his Q would be nice, like maybe after getting a kill or like the next 1 or 2 attacks on a champion reset a few seconds off his Q.

His boxes I'd leave the same, maybe give them more duration or health so they don't die in 1 hit late game.

His R is perfect so don't touch that.

His passive I'd say instead of damage give shaco movement speed if he's nearby an enemy champion that is low health and maybe later in the game increase the % of health the enemy champions have to proc shaco's passive.

Gosh I love the in depth analysis Booleans that was great, what suggestion would you make to keep him, I personally like the passive of reset on Q or the speed up to give him a little more late game presence
