EDIT: alright so i was given the idea of the longer range the more damage soscratch my passive and ult ideas

passive caitlyn deals up to 110% damage on her autoattacks at max range at level 1 and that % would scale with level up to like say 200 or 250%

i think one of the reasons caits ult is unappealing to me is the visuals, the weird gear ball thingy looks clunky and i would like to see a streamline shot the ult could follow the same sort of principle as the passive, maybe targets past a certain range from caitlyn take double damage

So the new R is basically a point and click Lux ult (a long range line that damages everything it passes through, with a brief window to dodge it). With that in mind, it seems like it's a lot better at initiating fights then cleaning them up; you want that splash damage on as many targets as you can get your sight on. I think the current ult fits the sniper theme a lot better; it's good at executing people and cleaning up, not whaling on tanks to get to their squishies. Overall, i think both Cait and Lux's ults are pretty healthy right now, since they have a decent amount of counterplay each (skillshot or interception); fusing the two really removes that option.

That said, I agree that Caitlyn's passive is a little boring; however, the new one really isn't different. You wait awhile, then shoot for more damage. Maybe something like your basic attacks gain crit chance with distance? That keeps the idea of a single devastating shot from long range. Anyway, this is just my opinion.

I feel like currently Caitlyn is in a really good space. At least, your ideas aren't really moving her towards a better sniper identity. Her passive applies more damage to minions because they won't dodge the headshot as well, ignores armor because there's less armor on the head and charges quicker from the bush because she's a sneaky sniper lady. These all make thematic sense and offer some interesting gameplay. Your idea is a timer that every so often lets her BLOW A HOLE THROUGH HER TARGET. That's not a single target precise sniper rifle, that's Tristana's rocket cannon. Same for the ult. There's a lot of gameplay behind taking a bullet for your ally that a Lux ult would just erase altogether. Does a sniper really need to line up a perfect shot if it can pierce through the hearts of any opponent in the way? If anything, these changes remove some of her identity.
