Can we get some background on DJ Sona's Development?

First off, DJ Sona looks epic, sounds epic, and (at least for me) was completely unexpected. I thought it would look like the generic DJ, but just with sona, playing old school songs on vinyl. The work put into this skin is just amazing.

So, can we get some background on DJ Sona from the devs? You know, inspiration, amount of time it's been in development, maybe some scrapped features? I remember reading an article on the old forums, from 2011, asking for DJ Sona; Riot responded, saying they loved the idea. 4 years later, the skin has made it to League, but it looks nothing like the original suggestion. Has it been in development all that time? It would be interesting to get some input from the devs about its development. I'm sure a lot of other people feel the same way. Thanks in advance for the input!
