Champion concept; Yod, scourge of Noxus
With this good old new champion Kayn being released, it got me thinking that there aren't enough badass Noxians. There also aren't any Noxians who don't think Noxus is strong enough. The lore based idea of Yod is to create a champion too badass for Noxus. The gameplay concept for Yod is to create a hybrid between melee asassin or bruiser and ranged carry that can deal modest damage at long range, or at close quarters string together long chains of abilities interwoven with shots from his cooldown resetting shotgun. If you don't want to read through four paragraphs of cheesy amateur lore just skip to the bottom where the kit summary is.
Yod is a man of Demacian origin, who at a young age took interest in Noxus. He saw it as a much more interesting bastion than had qualities that Demacia never could due to the restraints of honor and valor. He loved their supposed strength, ruthlessness, and hatred of Ionia. The horrific tales told by Demacians only intrigued him more, to the point where he eventually, secretly left Demacia on a journey to Noxus.
Upon his arrival he saw that on the inside, the great nation did not nearly live up to his expectations. While there were guilds of talented individuals and extremely powerful warriors, the everyday man was weak and disorganized like a barbarian, and the commanders were terribly arrogant and devious. On one particular mission in Ionia, after a particularly bad call from his commander, he rebels against his company, slaughtering the commander and all who resisted him. After successfully completing the mission alone, he was arrested for betraying his commander and was placed in prison to be sent to the gallows.
During his imprisonment, he had a vision of the darkin of war offering him a blessing if he were to escape, so he used his strength and intelligence to escape his cell and elude the guards. Upon his escape from capture, a bounty was placed on his head, and it was only a matter of time before he was bested in combat. Within the week he was beaten within an inch of his life and captured by a posse of skilled warriors, Aatrox himself confronted him, seeing the potential to make a bloody war within Noxus to feed his hunger for chaos.
Using his newfound power, Yod rose from the ground, grabbed the nearest weapon he could find, and beat any opposition to the edge of the city to a bloody pulp. By the time he had reached Noxus's borders, not only had his slaughter completely healed his wounds, but the average man did not bother to face him. His travels led him to Bilgewater, where he commissioned a personalized weapon to suit his particular tastes. A double barreled rifle created in the style of a darkin weapon. He pledges to return to Noxus, overthrow the black rose, and lead the nation to a new height to become the dominant force on runeterra.
A character of this type could have many interactions with characters all around the world in possible stories. One may wonder what would happen if he returned to Demacia, or what fate would befall him on his return to Noxus. Perhaps he would be captured and forced to fight Draven in a gladiatorial ring, or start a guild of soldiers to make Noxus great again. He may even ally with Kled, since they both identify with the lesser peons of Noxus and hate the ruling class. More importantly, his hatred of Ionia could make for some very interesting stories involving vastaya or the shadow cult or a meeting with Yasuo or Riven.
But none of this matters. What matters is the GAMEPLAY. In this section I'm not including exact numbers most of the time because I have no clue how to balance a champion.
KIT SUMMARY
Yod's passive is Dual Darkin Yod's weapon, titled the Dual Darkin, is a double barreled shotgun. He has a fairly short attack range, likely similar to that of Vayne or Draven, but every shot of his gun fires two bullets. One behaves like a normal ranged auto attack, but the other fires like a thin straight skillshot towards the cursor, similar to Lucian's q. This skillshot deals 50% of Yod's AD and has about half (or less) of his attack range. If this skillshot hits the same target as the auto attack, it takes a short chunk off of all his cooldowns (Except that of his ult)
Yod's q is Tactical Reposition Yod rolls a short distance, resetting his auto attack timer. This ability would likely have a somewhat short cooldown and possibly get more cdr from his passive.
Yod's w is Quad Cartridge When activated, Yod's next auto attack triples the effects of his passive, firing three skillshots in a cone instead of the usual one. Each bullet deals the same damage as the normal passive bullet and has the same effect on cooldowns. Would have a moderately long cooldown of around 10 seconds early game.
Yod's e is Faulty Ammunition Upon activation Yod throws a damaged cartridge to the target location. The cartridge leaves a small pile of gunpowder (Only targetable by Yod) at its destination. When cast within a short range of Yod, the circle of gunpowder becomes slightly larger. 1-3 of these circles can be out at once, scaling with ability level. When re activated while the cursor is over a pile of gunpowder, Yod will throw a spark at the pile, causing it to explode, dealing a damage over time and blinding, slowing, and silencing any enemies within the circle for a short duration. Touching circles of gunpowder will ignite at the same time, not increasing damage, but increasing area of effect. The circles of gunpowder disappear after a time limit, and the ability runs on a charge based cooldown similar to a Caitlyn w or a Gangplank e.
Yod's ultimate is Darkin's Blessing Passively, when below 66.7% hp, Yod gains the buff Darkin's Fury, which has no effect of its own. When he is below 33.3% hp, he instead gains the buff Darkin's Bloodlust, which has no effect on its own. Upon activation, Yod calls upon the power of Aatrox, cleansing all crowd control and gaining 10-20% lifesteal, 5-15 lethality (maybe), and 25% tenacity for about as long as a vayne ult. If Yod has Darkin's fury, he instead cleanses all crowd control, gains 15-30% lifesteal, 10-25 lethality (maybe), and 50% tenacity for about as long as a vayne ult. If Yod has Darkin's Bloodlust, he cleanses all crowd control, gains 25-50% lifesteal, 15-35 lethality (maybe), and 75% tenacity for about as long as a vayne ult.
- This kit causes Yod to be able to effectively be very dangerous to poke down as an adc, since if he is engaged on but not killed he will immediately be able to kill pretty much anyone in his path for a short duration. He effectively becomes a melee adc late game with the ability to peel for himself using his ult and high damage and kiteability at the cost of range. He would also be viable as an asassin using these ways, being able to potentially be played mid or top viably. This may have some bruiser related balance issues similar to how graves and ekko fared, but I'm sure that would not be too much trouble to fix. The passive gimmick of this champion seems like something the folks at riot games would appreciate, so the majority of the concept is just based around that. It would be really cool if this somehow magically got turned into a champion though, weather it's just the idea for the gimmick or the idea of a new world order Noxian that wants to destroy Ionia at any costs.
I'm just an idiot so if you see this please tell me if I'm an idiot or if this concept is cool.
