Lore Based Tournament
The other night, I was playing a game of ARAM when on a pure whim I bought Ionian Boots of Lucidity. As I spent a large portion of the game starring at the Grey Screen of Failure, I naturally tried to fill my time trying to entertain myself. Lo and behold I remember the little gem at the bottom of my poorly chosen boots. "This item Is dedicated in Honor of Ionia's victory over Noxus in Rematch for the Southern provinces on 10 December, 20 CLE"
What a fun series that was I recall to myself.
Why can't Riot fill our winter months with another distraction from the cold weather that will soon be descending on us? A grudge match, watching the spells fly and swords clash to show that Neither Demacia or Noxus are willing to be regulated to forgotten counties that are no more than places on a dusty and forgotten map. Watch Piltover use its benevolent Hex tech to combat the growing power of Zaun, or the terror inducing Shadow Isle invade Ionia, attempting to complete what others had failed to do.
With such a talented pool of professional players, it shouldn't be difficult to find people to fill the ranks. A growing segment of the community is enthralled with watching the titans duke it out upon the summoner's rift; while another large portion is clamoring for the Lore of Runeterra be utilized for the benefit of the story. With a wealth of grudges, animosities, and outright warfare in the stories of the champions we love, I think there is ample supply of possible matchups.
I leave it to greater minds than mine to decide whether or not this is something that is either feasible or even desirable; perhaps I'm out on a limb with my wild ideas. We have a little time before we jump back into our own personal battles to prove our worth, playing champions who fight for many of the same reasons we do.
