[Champion Concept] Silas, The Governor of the Packs
Hello! Alpha Warwick here with my first champion concept! I'm posting as a contestant for the July Community Concept Open Stage and I am bringing as my concept a character that I fell in love with playing in three different Pathfinder Campaigns. Then I retooled him for Shadowrun, Skyrim, Fallout, and finally added him to my own Pathfinder Setting. So this will be the EIGHTH World my favorite character has visited. I hope you enjoy! :)

##Short Lore##
Silas Blackmane was once a well respected commander in the Noxian Legions, with the unusual tendency to finish conflicts by Trials of Combat or Negotiation. After retiring from his military career with his wife, Silas was granted governorship of a particularly troublesome settlement in the Noxian Hinterlands. The town was overrun by shapeshifting beasts that appeared every full moon. During the full moon when his children were born, his entire family became as cursed as the rest of the townfolk, to transform into vicious werewolves. Silas' strong will allowed him to tame the beast that lives within him and he began teaching the rest of the townsfolk to control their transformations. When Agents from the Noxian High Command tried to claim the townfolk as living weapons, Silas helped them flee Noxus. After wandering around Runeterra they have finally settled on the fringes of the Freljord, trying to scrape together whatever living they can when the rest of the world hates them.
##Long Lore##
Silas Blackmane spent many years in the Noxian Legions, quickly rising to command his own battalion. His skill in combat awed is own forces, and his skill at the negotiation table awed even the most headstrong of enemies. Many battles were finished before they begun by Silas simply telling their opponents that, if they surrendered neither they nor their homes would be harmed.
After a tour of gaining glory and fame on the frontlines of Noxian expansion, Silas rejoined with his unit as an occupational force, quelling rebellious regions and governing them as Noxian provinces. The name Blackmane spread like wildfire, often the rumour of his arrival would cause rebels to shake in their homes. But in any province or settlement that Silas governed there were never any rebellions. As fair in politics as he was on the battlefield, he didn't allow any pillaging of the local territory or unfair policies on the populace. In exchange he improved many settlements, he built many a fort for his troops, helping with the construction of military and civilian improvements himself.
Finally at the end of this third tour, he said goodbye to his unit and retired from the Noxian Military. Silas married a woman he met in one of the town he governed, Lucine, a beautiful healer. For his meritorious service to the Noxian High Command they gifted him governorship of a particularly troublesome settlement. One rumored to be overrun by bloodthirsty beasts that stalked the town at the full moon. Many Noxian governors have died, resigned, or gone missing from the post. Unafraid, Silas accepted the gift and traveled to his retirement position, with his pregnant wife.
Far in the Noxian hinterlands, and nestled in a gnarled forest, lay the township of Nightvale. As Silas arrived, the townsfolk pointed and whispered. As he set about his business, Silas heard more rumors of how monstrous the beasts that plagued the townsfolk were, and how they could transform a man into a monster from a simple bite. More disturbingly he heard rumors of a rebel group planning to overthrow him after the full moon. Unperturbed, Silas went at his work improving the town with abandon. Until the night of the full moon arrived, and his beloved wife went into labor.
The sun was setting as Silas return home with the midwife, curtains were drawn, doors were locked, and the streets were devoid of life. Save for a calm Silas and a near frenzied midwife. As the midwife demanded Silas shutter and bar every window and door, as she frantically began to assist Lucine. Silas did as the midwife said shuttering and latching every window as the sun's last rays sunk below the horizon. As Silas went to lock his front door ,howls and footfalls sounded from every direction. Clutching his trusty shortsword, he shouted to his belabored wife, "I'll be back soon. There's someone at the door" as he calmly stepped outside.
Stepping into the moonlit square, Silas found himself surrounded by hundreds of creatures halfway between wolf and human, the monsters the townsfolk called werewolves. They filled the square and more perched themselves on rooftops, and even the mansion gifted to him as governor. But one werewolf stood out, twice as large as the rest and, balanced on the square's dry fountain and eyes gleaming with intelligence. With a sharp howl from their leader the werewolves began their attack ten at a time!
For hours Silas fought with that mob, neither giving any ground. No matter how deep Silas cut with trusty blade he could see the wounds knit together in front of his eyes. Even with wounds that would fell any mortal man, the beasts would just retreat into the pack and be replaced with another. As the moon past the crux of midnight, Silas began to fight back with increased vigor. An hour before dawn Silas was beaten and bloody, but most of the pack was sprawled in the square unable to fight anymore. Save one.
The leader werewolf sprung from his perch on the fountain, pouncing on the tired man. Standing behind the whole night the werewolf was fresh and vigorous, while Silas's energy was failing after a night of battle. Silas began to give ground, first one step, then five, soon he was cornered with his back against his own front door. Silas's sword was pinned by the werewolf's claws, one bite and Silas would be dead, the alpha gave a victorious growl and moved to snap off Silas' head.
Then Silas heard his wife scream his name, and with a bellow that shook the square, Silas shoved the alpha away. Lucine screamed again. Silas moved like a wild beast, slashing the werewolf's arms and legs, limiting it's movement. A crash from the mansion. Silas with newfound energy, delivered a massive cut across the alpha's chest which gushed blood, and the beast fell to its knees. Another shorter scream from Lucine. With a last choked cry Silas ran the werewolf through. With the moon still in the sky and dawn's first light shining on the horizon, Silas kicked the defeated alpha off his bloodstained sword. Silence, with tired hands Silas dropped his sword and steadied him self, then he heard it, a baby cry.
Silas rushed into his wife's bedroom and found Lucine, and the crying midwife holding two babies, his children. The midwife passed the sleeping babies to Silas then tearfully explained, that Lucine had complications with her birth and to save her and the babies the midwife had to curse them just like the rest of the townsfolk, to transform into werewolves every full moon. Silas nodded, then set the sleeping babies next to their mother, and headed back outside.
The morning sun had rose, and townsfolk clutched to their families, waiting terrified for the verdict of the Governor that survived. As Silas stalked out of his home he walked to "the alpha" now in the form of the self-proclaimed leader of the rebellion against him, and dragged him by his coat collar to the center of the square and hauled him to his feet. Silas souted that if a werewolf could stay in his house and save three of his family members, then the rest of their actions outside were unacceptable. Then Silas lectured all present that if they didn't want to be treated like monsters then they shouldn't act like a monster. The townsfolk protested that they were not in control while they were transformed only an alpha could command them then, but Silas simply said "Let me show you how it's done then. I'd never ask of someone something I couldn't do myself"
The next night Silas joined the rest of the townsfolk as a werewolf, and until the next moon he was absorbed in the wilderness and lore. And when the full moon rose it rose on Silas Blackmane, Nightvale's new Alpha. For many months after Silas perfected his techniques learning to speak while transformed or to transform without the full moon, and he passed his discoveries onto the rest of the town so the could become more than simple animals.
Eventually word reached the Noxian High Command, and agents were sent to collect their new "weapons" for the next conquest. Silas refused, but the agents said that insubordination would get Silas "removed". Silas was appalled, how many years of service and his reward is threats, and treating Noxian citizens like chaff to be scattered in front of enemy forces? Silas could not stand the thought of those under his protection being used like the warbeasts that were kept in pens and fed scraps. So Silas told them that he would no longer listen to orders from High Command.
The agents were prepared for this, all three manifesting a blade of liquid metal from their hands, weapons of magically crafted silver made to kill abominations such as werewolves. Silas dispatched the agents but not without suffering multiple woulds from the caustic silver blades. Thinking the werewolf-killing weapons to dangerous to leave in the hands of Noxians, Silas took the blades, each melding into his skin and adding to a fire in his blood of his werewolf physiology trying to reject the silver.
So Silas declared to the townsfolk that Noxus had betrayed them and that they are no longer considered citizens by High Command. Silas suggested that they leave and find a new home which would treat them with the rights they deserved. Demacia found their werewolf form's abhorrent and drove them from their lands with arrow, claw, and silver. Piltover refused to accept refugees without the proper paperwork, and Bilgewater and Zaun would never be good for them. So after wandering for so long Silas led his people to the fringes of the Freljord, and met with the Queen of the Avarosans. They agreed that Silas' people may have amnesty and a parcel of land on the southern steppes, if they agreed to help defend the Avarosan borders from attack. Tired from their long flight, Silas agreed to those terms, and there they stay.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| | Playstyle & Builds | | |:---:|:---:|:---:|
For Silas I would imagine two different builds being used regularly, a full tank build for Support or Top or a Bruiser-y build for Top or Jungle.
The Tank Build would probably begin with either a Doran's Shield, a Corrupting Potion, or a Relic Shield. Silas's Passive and ultimate provide a spike in damage even while building tanky so a utility damage item could be useful, Such as Iceborn Gauntlet or Titanic Hydra. If you are lacking defense against physical threats Randuins and Dead Man's Plate both provide significant defensive bonuses while giving more utility for teamfights, DMP provides more access to their backlines while Randuins has stronger defense stats and a protective active. Knight's Vow or Righteous Glory would probably be core on a Support Silas, But I would replace those with a Warmog's otherwise.
For a Bruiser Build a Black Cleaver and/or Trinity Force is Essential, Dead Man's Plate allows you to force yourself into the back lines. One of the Hydras would allow for better split-pushing, Ravenous giving healing if you don't fear getting bursted, and Titanic CAN do more damage but provides a better up-front buff to your defenses. You can add a Death's Dance and a Spirit Visage if you want to go full out on Drain Tankiness. But I personally Would Grab a Zz'rot and Ionian boots and become a split-push fiend. Pushing a wave dropping a portal then getting a good flank with your Ultimate could bust a game WIDE open.
For Combo's I'd imagine his Lane Combo's to be;
- AA, Q, AA, E Away. This Would be you most Highly Damaging combo and with the knockback and slow from E, would provide some safety in your retreat.
- Q, E W or Walk in, AA. This can be your safest way to trade, Silas's Q places a mark where it is cast and after the Enhanced Auto Attack is landed you return there instantly, If you suprise an enemy that has Aggression with this combo they should expect a burst of damage with a small trading window.
During Team-fights I'd Suggest; R their Carry, W, E past any frontline, AA, Q, AA. This put pressure on their carry and their tanks, the enemy Carry will likely run in fear, in which case you chase them down with the Movement Speed from Silverblood Greatsword. But if you don't feel Confident in your ability to rundown the enemy back line you can ult a Tank to smash a hole in the enemy lines...
