Championship Shyvana Season 4 Skin

Hey Riot and Players, Many of us have known for some time now that we were getting the Victorious Morgana skin, in which I've known each season it has been usually the MOST INFLUENTIAL champion that would end up getting it (if I'm correct here). In which usually a secondary champion with the second most influence in the game has normally received this skin. These champions I have noticed as being the most influential through out the season; Tristana, Maokai, Yasuo, Braum. Which would make sense for the second most influential champion to have a Championship Skin, and while I do like the Championship Skin for Shyvana (I recently began to play her and like her) what was the thought process or what is the thought process that your team of experts put into deciding who gets the Championship skin?

I remember Last season was Thresh as he came in and dominated the SUPPORT scene, and while before it was Riven who was blasting through the top lane, which those made a ton of sense.

I hope to hear back from any players with any reason/theories and hear back from any Rioter's who care to help delve this subject and answer my questions.

Thanks!

They probably just had a goal, made some concept art of multiple champions, and the Shyvana art was the most popular while meeting the goals (like fitting with the new SR VU).

  1. If being a top 3 pick for 14/32 weeks isn't enough, I don't know what it takes.
  2. The Championship skin was most likely selected in the middle of the Summer Split.
  3. They most likely didn't a caster for both Victorious and Championship skins.
  4. Tristana didn't see any play until halfway into the summer split (4.10).

Thresh wasn't seeing much play in S3 due to his permaban status. Riven was a strictly soloQ/NA thing until Faker picked her up during S3 Worlds.

I'm pretty sure they just pick whatever concept artist doodles the coolest skin.

SoloQ shouldn't have an impact on skin selection.

The charts were taken from ongamers. Shyvana was picked every game for most of the season in competitive play in every regions.

OGN Winter / Spring / Summer Shyvana 71.1% / 74.7% / 34.1% Tristana 1.3% / 0.0% / 20.7%

NA LCS Spring / Summer Shyvana 57.1% / 38.7% Tristana 0.0% / 45.0%

EU LCS Spring / Summer Shyvana 41.6% / 41.4% Tristana 2.7% / 15.3%

Lee Sin, LeBlanc and Kha'zix were the other top contenders, they all received a skin this year.

I manually checked the stats page for every split of OGN and LCS. Low jungler variety meant Lee Sin, Kha'zix and Elise were picked/banner a disproportionately high number of times compared to other classes.
