why aren't skins previewable before you purchase (similar to how videos are made for abilities)

currently the way you view skins in shop is basically a edited screen shot that looks NOTHING like the actual skin in game especially at the angle you see it....

for example the new eclipse leona skin in shop looks terrible...just looks like a different shade of armor...but in game she looks amazing as you can see the effects...

the way the shop sells it now is very poorly designed and makes buyers not want to buy...myself included atleast i'm weary til i see the skin in a game...i can't impulsively buy.

well you can kinda of do this with skin shards and renting them for 7 days

yeah but that's completely dif from buying them directly for RP

if i'm spending money i want to know what it looks like right there and then...why rent it and spend resources to just LOOK at what you're spending your money on...?

do you go to a car dealership and get shown a book and told to make your judgement based on photo that has more than likely been edited and to buy right there and then based on a picture?

no, you see it in person, test drive it, etc...no charge...it's part of the customer satisfaction to bring in more people to attract them once they get a feel for it...because once you get a feel for it and go back to what you have you WILL eventually down the line get what you saw or some variation.

similar situation....like the VS AI or blind pick should allow you to trial skins...or give you the option as a one time trial.

The renting them for X days will still be there and viable for people who want to use it in draft/ranked/aram etc...

well renting is free it dont cost you any $$

that would be the test drive

you get to play as many games with that skin you want in that 7 day test drive to see if you like it or not

renting cost resources it isn't free if it cost something....and it's not easy to come by skin shards...you either get super lucky or buy them...

so once again you have to pay to LOOK at something properly or use a resource you have already that can be used for something else down the line.

i get skin shards from gaining capsules from leveling up i disenchant them into BE, i get BE from playing the game

not $1 of money comes out of my pocket for this

first off i don't even think new champ skins drop off capsules til the next patch...so all this skin shard talk for BE is pointless in that matter...second...the chances you get the skin shard you want and have enough BE is another story.

yet the skins are aval to rent for free it just might not be the exact skin you want.

i get that. but to say there is no trial system is wrong.

and you dont have to be the 1st person to get the new skin, they do skin highlight videos and stuff too. get a pbe account where you can access stuff before its released live

New Champs/Skins/Emotes, whatever cosmetics all drop from the chests within the same patch they are released (you just have to be lucky to get them that soon).

You can use Skin Spotlight's Youtube channel to preview new skins. Not only do they show it to you from multiple angles, but also how the skills look, how they sound, and any other animations that are new to it. Why would Riot need to implement something like this into the client when you can just as easily Youtube it? After all, if they DID implement something like that, it would pretty much put Skin Spotlights out of business, and that's not very conducive to supporting the community built around your game if you implement in-client features that actively shit on the hard work that fans are doing for other fans.

and whats the difference between a spotlight on youtube and having it implemented IN the games shop in the same area where they show abilities...they have a skin section...they can implement it there...doesn't make sense...their work is being shown either way...but where it matters...for the people who are buying it.

Skin Spotlights isn't owned by Riot. It's a third party. So Riot probably isn't going to implement a third party youtube channel in the client.

It's most likely not been done because as others have pointed out it's pretty easy to see examples of them before buying. Surrenerat20.net for one shows off images, Spotlights and more for each skin as they are released to the PBE. Then on top of that, there are other YouTube videos of people playing them. So it's just not something important for Riot to put into the game because the resources to find them elsewhere already exist.

still unacceptable when literally every other moba does not require you to jump through hoops and use third party websites to just get a better idea of what you're buying. It is pretty much just anti-consumerism. Not unlike a lot of what Riot does.
