Energy based ADC?

I don't know if it would fit into the lore or into gameplay since I'm just a casual player, but I think a energy based ADC would be cool especially since the ninja/Asian motif in League is neat. Essentially the champ would have a really large attack range, maybe a slower attack speed, little escape since it would be so long range and his/her abilities would be very bursty or hard-hitting. I know there are a lot of bow/arrow or crossbow/bolt based adc's but I think this would stand out a bit.

That sounds neat, but the main reason ADCs have mana is just so they don't end up spamming their spells like no tomorrow in lane. Also enforces them to AA more.

How about a ninja Yordle with a sling? Like David and Goliath up in here? That's one weapon category that hasn't been touched as of yet.

I like the idea of energy japense archer.

And I just came up with interesting skill.

You know how in movies archers put their arrows in the ground and then picking them up they are shooting them. This energy archer coud do just that.

He would shoot some arrows at small spot around which he would gain AS and AD or some on hit effect. Effect would end after all arrows in that spot are gone.

Kind of defensive carry

Would it interest you to know that in season 2 ADC Kennen was a thing for a while?

Well, currently all energy users are ninjas or ninja like, so his/her kit would need to be focused on things like stealthiness, assassination, escapability, etc. I can see this working. If you want them to use a bow, it probably would not be like the one in the picture you showed, because ninjas used much stiffer, smaller versions of traditional Japanese longbows if they used a bow at all, since they were more concealable and easy to use in a closed space.

Asians are actually not the ones who are most famous for their archery. It is rather famous in my nation I think. This champion would need to have 575 basic attack range. His basic attacks would also use energy and have usual amount from AS and AD base stats, or he would have the opposite of Diana's passive (for the attack speed part) and have to constantly rely on his abilities to attack and deal damage. The combination of Ashe and Kalista should be the right place to put him.

At first I thought "cool". Then I realized when your primary damage comes from AA's which have no cooldown/cost and add abilities with little to no cost, it would be almost impossible or pointless to try and balance.

Neat idea, but the gameplay just kinda sounds like Varus a bit - the attack speed.

He would need really big cooldowns or really weak abilities to compensate the fact that he is energy based(at least in the early game). I mean otherwise you could just spam your abilities(and adc abilities have usually a good range, otherwise they quickly end up useless).

Also I feel like just making an asian bowman isn't enough to make him/her unique enough thematically How about something else, like I dunno someone like Hisen-Ko from Darkstalkers(a character with big sleeves who throws a huge amount of different weapons out of that)

Most adc's do best in teamfights/ scale into late game. Generally speaking energy champs will fall of more than mana champs in late game due to the fact that running out of energy in a fight is very real and happens often while running oom late game is very rare. What i mean is thematically for adc's being energy based wouldnt fit for what they are supposed to do (beside push objectives fast).
