It also has no mouth or nose, or legs, or tails. Clearly it looks better, so why don't we remove those from Ahri's splash arts and in-game model?

Personally I just think the whisker markings are ugly as heck.

Seeing them on her over all the years she has been in all her splashes she has always had them on her. it's something we all see when ahri is picked and it should be a thing that is kept untouched for that reason.

I could understand it if they didn't have her tails, or hell, her ears, but the whisker marks are a tiny detail that nobody will actually notice ingame. I was annoyed that Riot caved last yearw ith Arcade Ahri and gave her the whisker marks despite it going against what the skin represents,and I'm glad Riot didnt cave this time, personally.
In the end, though, the decision isn't mine, nor is it yours, it's Riot's. And Riot can do whatever the hell they want with their art. The very fact that Pug'Maw exists at all is a testament to that
The whisker marks are a very minor detail that doesn't matter to keeping a champion's identity.
SleepyŹoe1 voteswe see them in literally all her splasharts. that's where we notice it most, league isn't going to add them to the model sure, but at least at them where it matters. literally EVERYONE sees the splasharts and that is a part of the game. i don't care if it doesn't even fit the role it's in because it's one of her identifying characteristics.
Enough artist have bitched over this already because they think the same way. it's such a dumb removal that could be replaced by something simple. Mimi gives a lot of prime examples of what riot could have done to replace the whiskers on ahri, or even change the opacity. Some people in the art community are irritated by this change because attention to detail is a important thing to characters. so something as small as this pissed them off
Daedric Etwahl1 votesMeh, like I said before, I just think it's a silly thing to get upset over. But I've never been a fan of Ahri to begin with, too pandery for my tastes.
I could argue about identifying characteristics about other champions, too. Take Sona for example, one of her defining characteristics, visually, aside from the presence of the Etwahl, is her hair. Those long flowing pigtails are an identifying characteristic. And two of her skins completely do away with them. And yet in her art nobody mistakes her for someone else because despite missing an aspect, the primary identifier (For Sona, the Etwahl. For Ahri, her tails) is still there to be seen. (In fact Pentakill Sona is an interesting case because take the Ewtahl away and the resemblance to Katarina is strong. It's even why making n icon for her was difficult.)
It's still unmistakably Ahri, whisker marks or no. Nobody is going to look at that art and say "Oh! I wonder who that is!" because it's so unmistakeably her.
I don't think either of us are going to change the other's opinion here, though, to be honest.

SleepyŹoe1 votesfor all the people who don't understand: The whiskers are a part of her identity. it's one part of the many that make ahri who she is. you can say "she looks better without them" but in reality it's a part of her that we all see whenever we see her splash arts in the launcher/loading screen/ icon wherever. we are used to seeing it and made it a norm that she has the whiskers at all times. the moment you remove them from her most people see it instantly. that's why it's just an irritating thing when they removed the whiskers on this skin.
