Shards Improvement

I end up renting Champions/Skins and then lose the shard when some of them aren't really the kind i was expecting .It would be really nice if Riot could improve it so players can try the champion/skin out without losing the shard.like try the champion/skin at least 2 days just to decide whether to disenchant it into essence or to upgrade it to permanent.
