Reworks on Runes and Masteries

So i have a friend who plays league with me and they are upset at the idea of less flexability with the new rune and mastery system, seeing as they dont think theyll be able to do things like adc ahri anymore. I watched the video about this and would like to ask if other people feel like this too and if riot is going to have the new runes be combined buffs from the old ones(at least for tier one).
