[Champion Concept] Regis, the Shadowjacker
Design: An empty shell made of rock, metal, glowing crystals, and various other assorted materials. Inhabiting the shell is a solid shadow creature, with a barely physical form and piercing red eyes. When inhabiting the shell, Regis' feet and arms stick out of the it, and his head poking out of the top. When Regis leaves the shell, it collapses onto the ground, a miniature vortex of shadows keeping it in one piece.
Abilities Passive: Only a Shadow- Regis can only remain a certain distance from his shell. At 1st level, the range is fairly short, increasing as he levels up. If Regis ever exceeds the distance, he immediately is snapped back to his shell and stunned for 2 seconds. While Regis is outside of his shell, he is immaterial and can be neither hurt nor CCed and has a 20% speed boost, but has greatly reduced vision and can't harm anything himself. The shell remains where Regis left it and can be harmed. If the shell is destroyed, Regis dies. (assume for now his range starts at Warwick range 1 E at level 1 and maxes out at Tahm Kench rank 3 ult at level 18)
Q: Shadow Pin Regis tosses a miniature spear made of shadows at a target enemy unit, dealing X(+Y) magical damage and slowing them by 5%/10%/15%/20% for 2 seconds.
W: Shadowjack Passive: Enemies hit by Regis' auto attack or skills are Shadowed for 5 seconds. Active: Regis leaves his shell to wander around. If he targeted an ally or Shadowed enemy, he can Shadowjack them. Targeted the shell with this ability has him return to it. If the unit is an allied champion, Regis stays on them, and is able to attack and cast abilities from them, but not use item actives. 25% of the damage the ally takes is redirected to Regis' shell.(25% after ally's resistances are accounted, but Regis' own resistances do not affect the damage any further) If the unit is an allied minion, Regis can control the minion's movement, attacking and using his abilities as normal. Regis is thrown back to his shell if the minion dies, but not stunned. If the unit is an enemy minion or non-epic jungle monster, Regis deals X(+Y)% of the minions maximum health(max Z). If the enemy dies from this damage, Regis shadowjacks a phantom of it as if he shadowjacked an allied minion. If the unit is an enemy champion, Regis sticks onto them, slowing them by (x%) as long as he's on them. He can attack and use his abilities normall, dealing Y% extra damage to his shadowjack target. Regis can only stay on champions if they're shadowed, otherwise he is thrown back to his shell.
E: Return If in his shell, Regis dashes in the direction of his cursor. If he collides with an enemy unit, they take X(+Y) physical damage and are stunned for .5 seconds. When shadowjacking an ally, Regis knocks them back in the direction of his shell, and they gain a +Z% movement speed bonus when running towards his shell for 3 seconds. When shadowjacking an enemy, they take (same damage) and are slowed by Z% for 3 seconds. This slow is halved if the enemy is running in the direction of the shell.
R: FREEDOM! Regis breaks free of his shell, absorbing it into his shadowy body completely. He gains his Only a Shadow movement speed bonus and doesn't suffer from his shell range restriction for 10/15/20 seconds. Regis can still shadowjack as normal while freed, dropping right next to the target instead of back at his shell when exiting shadowjack. Afterwards, Regis' shell reforms around him again.
Came up with this idea after playing Heroes of the Storm and really liking Abathur. The passive limit was added when I wanted the same Symbiotic "backseat fighter" Abathur offered, but also prevent Regis from just sitting in base all game. He can fight up normally in his shell just fine if he's in either a solo lane or has no support(DC'd for example), but can more safely fight by hopping onto his support and letting them taxi him around. He must also be careful, as Regis shadowjacking alerts enemies that his shell is vulnerable. If he's feeling especially bold, he can ditch his shell to scout around and find enemies, being invulnerable but harmless outside of his shell, and screwed if an enemy should happen on his shell if he's too far away from it. The only ability I'm "meh" about is his E, but that's mostly because the Shadowjacking was the main idea, with Shadow Pin being an easy way to facilitate that happening.
I'm not particularly artsy, but later I might try to MSPaint an idea of what I think Regis should look like in and out of his shell, and when he's shadowjacking. Any feedback appreciated.
