Most children attend school at ages as Early as 4 nowadays. 5 is the standard entrance age.
Especially considering you live in the same region as myself, it's almost impossible to be 16 and not be in highschool unless you're held back.
That's pre-school, which can start anytime before a child turns 6 and is usually more of a glorified babysitter more than anything (more so than primary school), and is not to be confused with primary schools.
Primary school typically starts at 6 yo, as per the say Australian law enforcing children are to be in primary schools no later than 6. As far as I know, most nations start primary schooling at the age of 6.
Onwards, most people finish year 9 at 15 yo. Early starters may finish at 14 and by the same token, late finishers for whatever reason may finish it at 16. I wouldn't say the latter is something so impossible to warrant a genuine surprise.
......
And if there's some parents crazy enough to throw their kids into primary school as early as 4 yo, I feel bad for the kids. There is a reason why the primary school age are defined to be 6 years old, because children before that age is simply not ready for school, both mentally and physically. A child at something like 4 years old is simply next to impossible to consistently withstand school where they're bombarded with information for an entire day for 5 days a week, and countless both mental and physical activities starting as early as 8 AM each day on average (Australia starts like 8:30 or 9 or something, but then we have like US and Taiwan and whatnot that starts at 7:30 which is completely bullshit especially we KNOW that kids NEED MORE SLEEP than adults), their mind and body is simply not ready. And it shows, all of the researches show a clear correlation that early starters are performing worse than average and not the opposite.
Good job putting your kid behind since year 1, just because you have some extremely misguided notion that entering the school as early as possible is an advantage or some shit.
