Shyvana Rework ideas, from small tweaks to major overhauls

it seems the rumors of spam dislikes are true. this post went from +3 to -57 in 2 seconds. someone must have a bunch of bot accounts they're using to suppress new posts. hope this post isn't killed off by it. thankyou anyone who still checks it out.

Idea #

  1. Adding a .5sec to 1sec fear to the end of Shyvana's dragon form W burnout, or perhaps an even shorter duration to her human form as well from .1sec to .4sec. As burnout ends there would be a slight surge of fire and then all enemies in the radius of burnout would be feared for a short duration that increases with levels put into W. dragon form W currently doesn't have any special effects as the burn trail was removed now she's missing something special for her dragon form of the ability, which breaks with the theme of her kit. This would be on a 3sec - 6sec cast delay on a very small radius, changing in cast delay, and possibly duration fo the fear dependent on if your auto-attacking or not, giving plenty of room for counterplay and would add a lot of skill expression while updating her kit to compete with modern champions who have lots of CC, Mobility, and sustain. it would require both Shyvana and her enemies to time her fear making it very inconsistent but occasionally super useful. Adding even this weak crowd control to her human form would allow her to actually have a chance to gank before level six and I would gladly have this over extra damage vs drakes. Thematically she's spewing out fire one would think you might start to panic if you're set on fire by a dragon lady.

  2. Adding a bard chime style heal mechanic to her W when pressing W while its active consumes a "herb" that you collect from random drops in the jungle and heals a small amount of health. This would help her really unhealthy first clear without adding any significant combat power. Thematically she lived in the woods trying to be more like a human than an animal and one would think she would have learned what plants work as medicine like humans do while she was running from her mother.

  3. Add a short stun to her Q landing on an E marked target from .1 sec to .25 sec. her human form Q is just super underwhelming after its damage was nerfed with the balance nerfs around PTA.

  4. Removing or reducing the movement speed decay on Shyvana's W. With the mobility creep on all champions she doesn't need to have a weak movement speed buff to keep her from being overpowered. there are lots of times where Shyvana can't punish targets after they have made terrible errors simply because she just can't keep up with the overloaded mobility in their kits.

  5. Adding a Mercury Treads kind of tenacity to Shyvana's W, either added to her dragon form or both dragon form and the human form. Thematically when she was in the epic fight with her mother Yvva Shyvana pushed through the terror of fighting the fearsome dragon that was her mother and you could say she had tenacity and overcame her mothers fear and then used twin bite to slay her mother ergo tenacity on Shyvana's W or at least dragon form W. more of a quality of life buff.

  6. Adding a larger vision radius to Shyvana's dragon form because Shyvana's head is higher up from being a tall dragon she should be able to see further into the fog of war.

  7. Change the 30% ad ratio on E to 70%. Really there's no reason why Shyvana has to only build AP for a Bursty carry, why can't AD E blasting one-shot artillery Shyvana work too? if you go all AD you'll still be too squishy to frontline and you'll still get hard countered by CC and being squishy lets assasins burst Shyvana down so it would be fairer to a zed player if he has an actual chance to kill Shyvana instead oh the assassin doing zero damage to Shyvana and Shyvana just running him down.

  8. DO Something to Shyvana's passive. please. 5 bonus AR + MR x 4 dragons is basically nothing and completely ineffectual. and actually even getting all four of the dragons to get a grand total of 20 MR and AR is extremely inconsistent. She just doesn't have a passive most of the game. and it's nice having bonus damage vs dragons but she doesn't need as much damage as she has to be able to solo dragons i'd rather have a more useful passive. Like maybe herb chimes so I can actually TRY and probably fail to gank early game because I won't be almost dead just from my jg clear ehem. maybe give her back the 10 AR MR thing to increase her tankiness so that she actually feels like she gets some kind of buff from taking dragons and make the game when Shyvana is on the enemy team actually about denying dragons from Shyvana to keep her weak and more of Shyvana's gameplay actually about taking the dragons to be a powerful juggernaut like it was originally intended now that the game has room for that kind of scaling power. maybe dragon form could double her passive's bonus armor instead, keeping the passive how it is. Chogath can get 1000+ extra health, Veigar can get 300+ extra ap, Nasus can get 200+ extra damage on Q, thresh can get 20+ armor + 20+ ability power, senna can get 30+AD, 15%+ crit, 60+gold, Draven can get 500+ gold. there are obviously a lot of other factors involved that balance all of these but Shyvana just has a much worse passive stack system than basically every other champion who also has stacks.

  9. The new cloud drake should increase Shyvana's fury generation when in human form each cloud drake should add .5 fury generation, currently, this dragon does nothing for Shyvana except give her her passive, wait Shyvana has a passive? OH Right the AR/MR thing.

Just some ideas from a 1million mastery point high silver Shyvana one trick. the current state of the game currently favors Shyvana more then it has in the recent past and I am grateful for this but these have been ongoing issues with this champion and they are only going to keep getting worse as more champions are reworked and more strong new champions are added and the utility creep keeps getting worse and worse. I know other champions have their own problems but it really wouldn't take much to make me happy and I know that a lot of other Shyvana players wanna have something that makes the champion feel better when playing against modern champions. She doesn't need much just one of these tweaks would go a long way.

Her passive used to be ok. Because technically you could get an infinite amount of dragons before 30 mins of you played it right, so her gaining ar and mr from dragons was actually ok but now that it's limited to 4, it's a really bad passive.

I like all of your changes (not at the same time tho) but a passive change would benefit shy the most

  1. The effect I believe you are going for here is to have an interrupt of some sort or set up. Ornns knock back on her Q would fulfill this without add in too much power. She'd be able to interrupt channels without using ult and set up plays like a Yasuo ult. Thematically it also makes sense.

  2. Thematically this makes no sense, and in reality it's probably just better to add some LS on her E. I think sustain though should be avoided on Shyvana as this is one of her weaknesses that she must buy/build to cover. Unless Riot wants to expunge that of course I'm down.

  3. See #1 same thing.

  4. Agreed Shyvana no longer needs this since she is no longer near the top of the fastest champions. Once a long time ago she was, but this check has been on her and now needs to be removed.

  5. For her main Rework I hope she gains permanent un-stoppablilty of some sort. That Dragon death wing made me want this even more than I did before he was released. As a band-aid she could gain that tenacity now in dragon for just as a perk not necessarily during W only.

  6. This is a cool thing, unnecessary and probably breaks one of the few standards in league, but a cool thought. Shyvanas Model needs to be larger IMO at all levels.

  7. So this is one of those things that was supposed to be "play this if you want to have a good time." Not anything that was supposed to be mandatory or something that you could build hybrid for and benefit from it like item 3124 item 3146. Unfortunately as we know this did not occur and we have an "AP Yi" situation on our hands, the only reason Riot probably doesn't gut it, is because they are working on a rework or AD Shyvana is still too weak. But I agree that AD Shyvana needs more power. I think an HP Ratio would help a lot.

  8. I legit just asked Scruffy this on QGT. (No answer yet.) Yeah her lackluster passive is a big deal and now that they know Shyvana can only have 4 (since she still does not scale with elder like Meddler promised) They know the exact value max that Shyvana can reach. 40/40 is perfect for such a difficult passive. I'd argue 50/50, but that might be pushing it.

  9. A flat 10 is 10% CDR. It's perfect and does exactly what cloud is supposed to do.

Joking, that's cool to see another million club, I need to get to 3 million to pass up the highest. I got a long way to go, but I only Play her in ranked 90% of the time so it's rough and now I have to practice other champs for clash.

I will make it though... one day. XD

Wait how is Shyvana´s first clear bad? If i start talisman+refillable i can consistently manage that clear with like ~80% health left, even without any help on my first camp.

I really do not think she needs a sustain buff.

However i do agree that cloud drake should do something for her and that her passive is too damn lackluster.

However her Q can probably not be buffed that much, scales way too hard into both her E and bloodrazor and itself but it would be nice if it had some actual AD ratio´s back.

And i do like the thought of tenacity on her W, or damage reduction against projectiles perhaps, something about them being disrupted by her fire field.

I like almost all of these ideas. Something she absolutely needs is interaction with the cloud drake though. It's totally useless to her even though she's the best at taking dragons. Which could arguably also be an update to her passive, which she also needs. I would really love a complete rework of her, just don't change her theme, but those are some nice band-aid fixes before then I feel to make her passive and the cloud dragon less irrelevant to her.
