Noxian Malphite: Idea for a new Malphite backstory.

So Malphite is clearly up for a lore update. Magic Mountain from a different universe just isn't going to last long. So I was randomly brainstorming up ideas about where they could go with him. And it struck me: What if Malphite ended up being the Noxian counterpart to Galio? Sounds weird, I know, but bear with me.

Imagine Noxian soldiers attacking Demacia encountering Galio. Clearly Noxus isn't going to allow their most hated enemy have a weapon that powerful without an answer of their own. So any chance they get, they are going to seek out something that can match Galio's power. So in the process of their eternal expansion, they encounter a mountain with a magical semi-sentient stone (the Monolith). They rip a giant chunk from of the side of this mountain, discover that it possesses a unique sentience of its own, and enslave him to serve as their own Noxian version of Galio. Malphite serves Noxus to protect the rest of his mountain, following the Noxian doctrine of conscription or destruction. Understanding that peace can only come when everything is one (a concept that he understands from being part of the larger Monolith, the mountain he came from), he serves the Noxians with the hope that once the world is united under their banner he can return home and become part of the greater whole he was torn away from. He resents the Noxians for taking him from the larger whole, leaving him confused, and isolated, and angry at a world he doesn't truly understand, but sees their success as the only way back home.

Mechanically, Malphite is supposed to be the anti-physical attack tank of league. Galio is supposed to be the anti-magic tank. They have similar ults, although Malphite's is more offensive, and Galio's more defensive. There's a weird mirror symmetry to both, which I'd like to see extended to their characters.

I could see this as being a little too similar to Skarner, but ultimately, there are going to be some similarities between living rock creatures.

Anyway, this is just a rough concept I came up with in 5 minutes, and it obviously needs flushing out, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

OMG I would totally love to play either one of these guys and duo with someone who plays the other. Counters to both AD and AP, and some cool utl Combos.

Malphite engages with hils ult while Galio ults Malphite. Malphites CC's keeps everyone in the zone for Galio to crash down and start wrecking faces. They can theoretically 2v5 with a plan like this.

Where are the streamers that will try this.

As for the lore update, it sounds interesting I'm all for it. At least its better than quite a few of the lore changes Rito made over the years.

While I see where you are coming from, since Galio and Malphite share some similarities, making him the lore counterpart for Galio doesn't work for me.

Biggest concern is that in the lore, Noxus does already own a counterpart for Galio. I am talking about Sion, the zombie who has enough power to throw Galio over.

I agree that Malphite needs new lore (but this will wait til he gets his VGU). I wouldn't tie him to Noxus, more like making him an independant natural force.

I think Maphite will go to the Shurima or Mount Targon in his VGU
