Champion Idea: Shin, the Master of Shadows

Hi ya'll, I am here to share my concept of a very interesting and balanced champion.

Champ Name: Shin, the Master of Shadows Gender: Female Role: Mid Lane / Jungle Damage: Attack Damage Difficulty: 8/10

Lore: Shin was Zed's sister separated at a young age. Shin lived in the slums of the village of Gardion, located in the region of Noxus, outside the main capital. Shin was a quiet girl who was abused by those around her due to her feebleness. Finding comfort in areas quiet and dark, Shin always found herself in the shadows of dark secluded places.

One day, merchants and thugs cornered Shin and were prepared to punish her for stealing fruit from a stand. Villagers saw what was happening but no one dared to help her in fear of retribution. With all hope of help lost, but a will to live, Shin became desperate and her mind suddenly became black. Shin opened her eyes to see the bloodbath she has created in the dark alleyway. She looked up to see villagers looking at her in fear.

In the capital of Noxus, reports of the incident reached the council and angered them. However, upon learning about a young girl who could control shadows, a young Talon went out and sought this young girl, for he saw potential for her as an assassin of the Noxian High Command. Shin was at first unwilling to follow Talon, but the promise of a better life and revenge against those who have hurt her and the innocent brought her over. Shin was taught the art of assassination and refined her abilities under the tutoring of Talon.

Now, Shin is an exceptional assassin and a master of controlling shadows. Shin eliminates targets for Noxus, but also enacts her revenge by eliminating those she deems evil and abusive in Noxus. Capable to swiftly elimination those on the end of her Sai, Shin is a formidable opponent and known to all of Noxus as the Master of Shadows. No one knows her name as she works behind the scenes, and those who do see her, never see the next day.

Abilities:

(Passive) Shadow Supremacy: Shin has mastered the ability to control shadows. Attacking enemies stacks 1 Shadow Mark on enemies. Upon reaching 4 Shadow Marks, enemies will hit with Shadow Spears / Shadow Chains after 4 seconds.

Shadow Spears: Deals 15-60 damage per Shadow Mark. Deals 25 - 75 damage per Death's Mark. Shadow Chains: Roots for 0.125 seconds per Shadow Mark. Roots for .25 seconds per Death's Mark.

Click on the passive to choose between Shadow Spears and Shadow Chains

(Death's Mark are from Shin's ultimate, keep on reading!) (Shadow Mark is blue, Death's Mark is black & these Mark's show up in a circle around the champion as squares)

(Q) Shadow Spark: Shin throws 3 needles that deal 10/20/30/40/50 (+0.15 AD) damage per needle. After throwing her first set, Shin throws another 0.50 seconds after. Shadow Needles stack 1 Shadow Mark on enemies (not per needle)

Shadow form: Shin throws a giant shuriken that deals 50/65/80/95/110 (+0.30 AD) damage to enemies. At the end of it's range, the shuriken falls to the ground and creates a circular Shadow Puddle.

Cooldown: 7/6/5/4/3 seconds

Shin stores 1 Shadow Charge every 24/21/18/15/12 seconds and holds up to 2.

(W) Slash Dash: Shin consumes a Shadow Charge and dashes in a direction to deal 40/70/100/130/160 (+0.40 AD) to enemies. Shadow form: Shin consumes a Shadow Charge, becomes an untargettable shadow and dashes in a direction to deal 60/100/140/180/220 (+0.60 AD) to enemies. If dashing into a Shadow Puddle, Shin gains 1 Shadow Charge.

(E) Dark Dance: Shin infuses shadow energy on her Sai's and spins in a circle to deal 60/85/110/135/160 (+0.50 AD) to enemies. Shadow form: Shin manifests shadow blades on her arms and spins in a circle to deal 100/130/160/190/220 (+0.70 AD) to enemies.

Cooldown: 10/8.5/7/5.5/4 seconds

(R) Domination: Shin envelops herself in shadow energy for 3/4.5/6 seconds During the duration, Shin: is untargettable (meaning, can't click her for auto attacks and point and click skills, but still can be damaged by skill shots and AoE). gains 15 movement speed gains access to Shadow Form abilities Loses 20 armor and magic resist

Attacking enemies during Domination inflict a Death's Mark instead of a Shadow Mark (for passive).

Cooldown: 110/90/70 seconds

Role & Gameplay:

Shin's passive enables her to adjust her style of play. With the option of choosing either Shadow Spears or Shadow Chains, Shin is an adaptable champion fit to play the mid lane or jungle. Shadow Spears allow her to deal burst damage 4 seconds after it activates. Perfect for finishing off enemies in a fight and those who run away. Shadow Chains allow her to possess some form of cc that roots enemies for a duration based on the amount and type of mark placed on an enemy.

Shin's ultimate, Domination, is what makes her a very unique champion and is where she becomes most formidable. Domination works perfectly alongside her Shadow Form skills and gives her bonus stats and the ability of being "untargettable"

(Shadow Form) Shadow Spark deals a decent amount of damage but also leaves a Shadow Puddle at the end. To utilize the Shadow Puddle, Shin can use (Shadow Form) Slash Dash to dash towards the Shadow Puddle to immediately gain another Shadow Charge, thus having 2 Shadow Charges once again. Using Domination and having Shadow Form on allows Shin to have exceptional outplay potential and assassination abilities.

Ability combos + assassination (Shadow Form): Use Domination. Use Shadow Spark at an enemy or in the general direction. (The Shadow Puddle allows exceptional positioning) Use Slash Dash towards the Shadow Puddle. Use Slash Dash once again to reposition yourself or to get on top of the enemy. Use Dark Dance once on the enemy. Have (passive) Shadow Supremacy activate Note: Shadow Spark's cd is the lowest of all her skills, enabling Shin to reposition 1-2 more times during the duration of Domination

My Notes: While some of you may think Domination (ultimate) may be too overpowered, I disagree.

  1. Untargettable means she can't be "clicked" for auto attacks and cheesy point and click skills like Brand E
  2. Shin loses 20 armor and magic resist, meaning skill shots and AoE skills will hit much harder
  3. The duration is only 3/4/5, enabling only 1-2 additional repositions if using Q and W.
  4. Champions with similar ults that give a "form" for a set duration are Master Yi, Olaf, Tryndamerer, Nasus and Renekton. I think Shin is balanced with her ult.

Shin is a champion that is difficult to master but very rewarding, hence the 8/10 difficulty. Champs that are able to block her abilities would be a counter as they make it difficult for her to get 4 marks for her passive. Champs such as Yasuo & Malzahar Champs that have crowd control, AoE skills and skill shots would have a easier time against her too. Champs such as Annie, Anivia, Ezreal

Please leave feedback! I would love to hear opinions and I hope Riot sees this if it's successful and welcomed within the community!

Oh boy, a 4 hit passive.

The fact that you can do 60 damage at level 1 and then 240 damage BASE at level 18 is ridiculous. There is no scaling, you're balancing entirely around base damages which is seriously absurd.

The 25 to 75 barely matters because you can't ult before level 6, why does the scaling start at level 1??? Move it to her ult active or something. That is to say, if the ult isn't massively broken like this passive is.

You're allowing an assassin to get a reliable 4 hit passive off that can also root for half a second. The damage doesn't matter if you're getting ganked in midlane, and the cc doesn't matter if you're jungling because you can just oneshot the camp. You're trying to make Shin be able to be played in both roles by giving her a toggle, but the logic gets defeated by the fact that a midlaner will always choose the CC in skirmishes and in ganks, and also pick the damage one for solokilling once ahead. This passive is built for snowballing. And it's not even a passive, it's a toggle. What?

So if you land all three, you get 40/70/90/120/150 + 45% AD in one wave, and then the same thing in the next wave. This is useless as a waveclear option until the later ranks + some damage items and it is absolutely fucking ridiculous as an answer into melee champions. This Q makes no sense for an assassin.

The shadow form really just makes no sense as well. You say end of range instead of at cast point which makes it difficult to micromanage the Shadow Puddle location. 50-110 scaling and 30% AD is also worse than the non-ult Q in straight up 1v1s. What is the point?

Shin stores 1 Shadow Charge every 24/21/18/15/12 seconds

(W) Slash Dash: Shin consumes a Shadow Charge and dashes in a direction to deal 40/70/100/130/160 (+0.40 AD) to enemies. Shadow form: Shin consumes a Shadow Charge, becomes an untargettable shadow and dashes in a direction to deal 60/100/140/180/220 (+0.60 AD) to enemies. If dashing into a Shadow Puddle, Shin gains 1 Shadow Charge.

Wait, there's no cap to how many you can store???

Also, I've never cough heard cough of an assassin cough that has a charge-system dash cough that does damage cough. Also female.

Shadow form W is redundant. Apparently in shadow form you're untargetable anyway...

Dashing into a shadow puddle giving you another dash makes no sense because it's hard to micromanage your shadow puddle because of how stiff your ult Q is. This is terrible design, it shows you have no idea how to look past the surface level of your own ideas.

OH, A SHADOW ASSASSIN THAT SPINS IN A CIRCLE. AND DOES DAMAGE. ON THEIR E. HOW ORIGINAL.

First of all, untargetable means you can't get hit by anything, you're untargetable. Only DOTS work vs untargetable units. Like Fizz E, or Ekko R, or Vlad W.

Secondly, giving 15 flat movespeed to an assassin does nothing. She'll build Youmuu anyway and will likely have Celerity because it seems she's a roaming champion.

Shadow form abilities would be a cool concept if you didn't steal it from Heimerdinger. And it's not even improved on or anything. It's like the champion becomes completely different at 6.

Losing 20 armor and magic resist does jack shit because you're not going to get hit. The champion has dashes on an unknown cap and cooldown, gains more dashes in the event that the stars align and wants to be in close anyway because of the totally original spin attack. Plus what seems to be half untargetability, which is a terrible concept because it means that you're locking away other champions from being good picks into the character. For 3/4.5/6 seconds, anyone who doesn't have a reliable and fast skillshot won't be able to fight her, meaning it's literally just free.

In short, your lore blows and is uninspired, your individual skill ideas would be cool if they had an actual champion core concept to be based around and everything put together is hilariously convoluted and even overtuned.

Try again when you have a better understanding of the game.

Sounds like Shen mixed with Zed's title.

They wouldn't release a champion who's name is literally another champion's name spelled differently. Her name will need to change. Also, it'll be "Mistress of Shadows," as a "Mistress" is a female master.

Name needs to change: it is literally Shen with a one letter difference you kinda need to explain how she and zed got separated change Epithet to the mistress of shadows, due to the Master of shadows being Zeds epithet change the class, we don't need another shadow assassin after kayn and zed I am currently working on a rework for my demacian based shadow juggernaut that I made about a year ago, perhaps yours could be a shadow Marksman?

Another nerf but hard: (Passive) Shadow Supremacy: Shadow Spears: Deals 15-60 damage per Shadow Mark. Deals 25-75 damage per Death's Mark Shadow Chains: Roots for 0.125 second per Shadow Mark. Roots for 0.25 second per Death's Mark

Edit: Nerfed (R) Domination: Duration changed from 3/5/7 to 3/4/5 Attack Damage bonus removed

Realized having bonus ad and 7 second duration is a bit too long. 7 second duration enables Shin to use Shadow Form Q twice, which is 1 too many repositions. Too broken in that case
